- How to better organise your bike bags? Packing and unpacking is my least favourite part of bicycle trips. Therefore I try to do it as fast as I can! A year ago I stumbled upon the new Ortlieb packing cubes and commuter insert for panniers. I tried them out and share my thoughts!

Loved that you showed the camera equipment in the insert. Makes me feel a little better about getting one and bringing my gear with me!
I have got two inserts now, one for a bag on my handlebars (Ultimate 6 Plus), one for my trunk bag.

I use the strong plastic courier bags to put each item or two into. I write the contents on the exterior to know what is in each one and waterproof, too.
I never thought of writing down the content, but it makes so much sense, thanks!
For my photo equipment I like the Ortlieb Office Bag L with the Tenba Camera Insert BYOB 13. it fits perfectly, is very stable and it looks more professional to clients on location.
Thanks for the advice, great, also that camera insert. Might be a bit too small for my trips, cause I am mostly on the road for several days, but definitely looks professional.
I like how the dimensions of the office bag match up with the BYOB13, makes it a perfect combination. I use sport roller panniers on the front, with a camera insert bag sold by Newwer that also fits in perfectly.
I agree that packing/unpacking and attempting to find stuff is one of the biggest downsides of biketouring.
I did a bit of organising by having a backpack in one of my rear panniers... so kind of like an insert.
My fork-bags took effort to detach to i used them for stuff i would only need during camp (tent+sleepingbag and sleeping-mat+waterboiler)
The insert looks ok, but not like a game-changer. I guess i will try the commuter insert.
I use Ortlieb city bags today (both touring and daily), but in someway my old cheap panniers where better for organizing, the had side pockets + a rear place to put you thermobottle
Instead of the inserts you could use any kind of bags of course. These do fit nicely though. I use them for my clothes: one for my jacket/rain gear, one for underwear and socks, one for my (other) clothes. It does make my packing ritual quicker. I am on a longer trip in France now and finally seem to have a good system. Like you I have my sleeping stuff in the front bags now. I already lost some things on the way though, it seems to be inevitable.
The problem I have is the hooks damaging the clothing and getting caught up in them.
I might look at having a velcro flap that goes over the top and modernising mine

Definitely! I have got a 16” now! (Macbook Pro)
Do you have any idea if the commuter insert would fit inside Ortlieb’s velocity backbag?
I am not sure, but sizewise they are not that different, so I guess it would fit. I do use the commuter insert in bags of others brands as well, although it is not a perfect fit.
Next video...show us how it all looks when attached to your bike. I haven't figured out how to get this much stuff on mine.

That is what I have for my gear (cables etc), very handy!

I can’t find the exact bags. But these are vacuum bags with a ziplock. Or go for vacuum bags with a small travel pump. Just don’t get the ones that need a hoover. ;)

😆 I play the violin 🎻 , and own two of those guitars, but can’t really play them. The man in the house plays the piano and guitar. We met when I started playing in his band, in Ireland.
