"There's always something better, and while you're chasing that, you can't enjoy what you have"... well said man! Just ordered a copy of The Shining BCE with S19 gutter code ... started to feel sad that it wasn't the "real deal" but then realized how freaking cool it was anyway. Thanks for helping me appreciate something really cool that deserves appreciated! :)
I'm so glad you feel that way! That wraparound artwork is really nice. And you can find a really nice BCE for a good price that has that artwork and looks the same on the shelf. It's a very nice item, particularly with that early gutter code - very very early to the first edition!
As someone who’s getting into collecting Stephen King this is the perfect video. I appreciate your openness about what editions these are and seeing the reproduction dust jackets are giving me ideas I never thought of. I also didn’t realize the book club editions have normalized sizing to standard hardcovers. Great video! I’ve enjoyed going through your channel and it’s giving me tons of ideas for my collection. Thanks!
Very cool. In 1983 I worked in Manhattan one block away from Doubleday. I too picked up all early editions of the first 5 Doubledays. I do have a second state salems lot, but aside from that I love my early Doubleday collection.
@@SKFirstEditions I'm not sure if these are in videos that I have yet to watch but The wind thru the keyhole and Charlie the choo choo from cemetery dance publications. I really wished I would have preordered that one years ago. I did purchase The Dark Man: An Illustrated Poem and I think that one is potentially in the same format. I also sent you an email question about a SK book and cover art.
@@Brian_STL19thanks for the suggestions! Wind through the Keyhole is definitely coming up, but I hadn't thought about Charlie the Choo Choo. That's a great suggestion! And I sold my copy of Dark Man a few years back - I can see if Noah has it to show and talk about.
@@cathygonzalez5079 wow nice! The first printing was R49, so 49th week of 1976. Yours was printed not too long after that - Spring 1977. Same price, too! Cool item - congrats!
Cool! The early book club editions were all the same size as the original firsts. They look nice on the shelf, and can be found for a fraction of the price of a first!

That's awesome! Congrats!
please don't stop making these. I'm learning so much from these videos.
Thanks so much! Is there anything in particular you'd like to see?

Um I always thought my copies were fake cause they had no barcodes… huh.
