I've piloted a Targa 46 with flybridge, and found it a wonderful sub 50 foot flying machine both at slow speeds and at 30+ knots. I took this boat from London to the channel Islands on my own and it was a completely amazing experience, which I would love to be able to replicate ASAP! A great tour of a lovely boat.
That must have been an excellent trip! What was the sea state like? If you get the chance to do that sort of trip again and you need a deckhand then let me know 😉 thanks for the feedback re the video - I appreciate it 🙌
@@YachtBuoy I will stay in touch, if I get to go over there again I will sometimes need a bit of company, oh the sea state was calm and I didn't exceed 10 knots as the owner didn't need his boat urgently.
I'm inclined to wish they didn't give us so much outdoor space, in exchange for a bit more interior. Bad weather sailing means spending a fair bit of time indoors, and there would still be a good bit of deck space to enjoy if there were three feet less cockpit and more salon. On a 46, you need all the interior room you can get. But she sure is lovely, and she looks as if she's as seaworthy as they get.
Targa boats in my opinion are very suited for users who normally go from marina to marina. You can drive them to easily punch through bad weathers before reaching your destination, but their spear-like shapes could not provide enough stability at anchor. Those boats are born for motion, not for static use.
They're heavy boats, and sit deeper and more anchored in the water than many boats of similar apparent size. The 46 does appear narrow for its length. But the ones in the 30 range, are not noticeably unstable at anchor. They're not cats nor Florida Bay Coasters, but feel like a traditional seaboat. I wouldn't be surprised if they could find a way to install a gyro in something as big as the 46, if you would insist on one.
I went to the Southampton boat show in 2019 and when I saw the 46 I couldn't believe it. My gf was amused by the fact there were bigger and expensive boats. I explained to her as she herself owned a range rover that this was the equivalent of that and was the 4x4 of the sea. I was shocked to see a 46 as there was no videos on you tube of it so it was nice to see it up close and personal. I had only ever been on a 27ft before hand. Broke my ankle on the day trip 🤕 not so much fun lol
I'm really coming to like this yacht in the sub 50' category. Like another commenter mentioned, I would like to see an option for a larger salon and smaller cockpit, though given the engine hatches I'm not sure that's possible. That said, one thing I think that could be do-able is get rid of the forward single berth and aft single berth, add additional fuel tankage, a water maker, and give the boat a true trans-Atlantic capability.
What an awesome boat and so much space. That's awesome. Those mats for beds don't look that comfortable though. I'm sure though that you could get better ones. I've often found the mats or foam pads on boats and even some yachts, are horrendously uncomfortable. With the advancement in hybrid bed technology and getting comfortable mattress with or without springs in them, I find it so odd that some manufacturers will put in such high end appliances like Miele, Bosch, Viking, Furuno, Garmin, Raymore and then the beds are just a cheap foam mat that was cut into shape to fit. I was on a Heesen 60M superyacht and the twin berth guest cabin had Those beds that looked like these. It blew my mind. A $30M ship and the mattress is junk, and hot. It doesn't breathe. Anyway...I'm ranting. Sorry. Excellent video and boat sir.
No. But they make a 30..... From 30 and up, I feel you're mostly buying bloat..... The second head in the 40+ ones, I suppose. Makes bringing guests less awkward. Beyond 46, you'd likely start to lose the tightly wrapped, supported-everywhere spaces which makes them so practical for real world high'ish-speed travel.
@@mrwoozie1735 Both Targa and Minor(which is what Sargo was called before the name change) started building these kinds of boats in 1976. So not sure I’d call it a plasticky rip off.

How was the boat at anchor ?

Cracking little boat for exploring the Scottish islands

The wider beam makes all the difference

seakeeper will solve this problem and there are systems that wuld probably fit in a sargo or targa
Wish this came with larger fuel capacity. I am sure they could put larger tanks on request?
I got no doubt about that Targa 46 is the best for fishing and going around ❤️👍🏼💪⛵♥️

They really did a fantastic job making this ship feel much bigger than it really is. It's very well appointed and screams outdoor fun.
The guy who owned this one is a chap aged in his 80’s who still takes it out single-handed

I would love to see a transatlantic model of one of these
A coastal cruiser but not a rough weather boat!
All that glass and not much reinforcement.
Gorgeous
What stunning boat. Do like the way you show them and all the information 👍

Thanks for watching 🙌 glad you enjoyed the vid 👍 sounds like you had a great time aboard the Heesen
Great and informative video, Glad you enjoyed the T46! :)
Thanks! Glad you like the video! Will you be at SIBS again this year?
@@YachtBuoy Yes! Wessex Marine will be there this year as well with some of our boats.
I win the lottery, this is the boat I buy.
Good choice 🙌
Built for the bay of fundy.. nice
My first thought was..."Do they make a 90 footer"?
A lot of great boats under 60 feet that make you look for their bigger brother
I would love to see a 90ft Targa 😍

Good vid mate, she is a great boat. Did you get a little ship vib from her?
Thanks shipmate 🙌 100% - it feels like you are on a much larger vessel - especially when you are walking around on the upper-deck
I love this off shore boat!
Me too! Would love to take her out in some rough seas!
Can the dinning table in the saloon be lowered to make an additional queen sized bed ?
Not as far as I am aware. Thanks for watching 🙌
Yes, it can be lowered to fit the mattres that fits on top. So in this spec 46 you can sleep 8 people.
I would love to see you at sea with this wonderful seaworthy boat. Do you know why this ship has not achieved CAT A status?
Me too - I would love to take one of these out in a North Sea gale! She isn’t designed to be a Cat A but rather an offshore cruiser
@@YachtBuoy what significant changes would be needed to make such a vessel CAT A status, is it range, hull strengthening etc
I feel Sargo 36 and New Sargo 45 is also up there with Targa!
Yep I think Sargo is just ahead in space useage
So, you would prefare the more plastic looking and more expensive rip off? ok...
I love that Targa put guard rail,a must for dogs!
Sargo and Targa, both Made in Finland.

If you get caught in extremely rough Seas with this boat you are still going to have your hands full
Sir plz.mention the co.'s name and add.with tel.no.
Thanking you.
Too little boat for price
