I think you changed your fate around on that mirror. You should get 7 years of good luck now! Today was so helpful for me on this extreme piece i am doing, i wanted to put some pieces and parts over my decoupage paper to make them flow better together, but was hesitant until i saw you do this. My back is blown out too right now, bought the perfect little piece for the group project for 5 bucks and carried it myself to the car. You always feel good doing these things at the time but a new day reveals the damage you did to your body and you pay for it with days of healing back up. Lupus is so frustrating!!!!
It's true something not very much one day has you in bed a day later.... Why is it your back is always the icing on the cake when your unwell.... Arrrgghhh All my live Dar we better keep on trucking 😂😂😂
Endless creativity and finding inspiration in broken glass. Amazing. Love Sunday mornings, Lel, Marty, and my latte. Secretly, I watch to see what color Lel's hair will be? Fact! We all need a Marty, but he's taken. 😅 😊 ❤
Such a great use of bits and bobs ( in my Southern Mississippi drawl Scottish accent). The music at the end with the horns was perfection. You and Martyn have endless creativity but I also like the love and humor between you too. That part of Martyn getting you to see the right edge of the paper was sooo cute. Half way around the World, I almost hollered “that’s it!!” Thanks for this terrific tutorial!!
There’s nothing you can’t do! And Martin, great music and video skills ( plus seeing how the decoupage paper fit). 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻you feel better soon. Take a week off Lel, we completely understand and love you too much to have you suffer! ❤️❤️❤️
Such a treat! Love the mirrors and molds-great idea. The gold stencil is delicious and subtle. Years ago I cut up a bunch of art glass to put on a mosaic, along with beads and a spoon and whatnot. It was really fun. The only problem was I did it while sitting on my living room couch… I may have had eye protection, but I didn’t have much protection against all the shards. What a silly goose I was! I still love that piece though and it was one of the most fun to make. 😂
I think this is so creative and I just love the way it came out. Just love watching your videos. I just know there is no way you will ever have 7 years of bad luck. I think it’s going to be 7 years of really good luck❣️thanks for sharing your ideas with us!
Another great tutorial full of inspiration. You can make ugly shards of glass beautiful! NOW that’s true artistry!!! What stamina you have to be creative while feeling lousy!!! Hope your feeling much much better!! Will be waiting for next week.
Loving this piece! Very clever striking use of the mirror! A beautiful mixed media masterpiece and your matching of the paper was the best tip ever. You and Martyn are the best team and always bring huge smiles. Get well soon. 🩷🩷 xxx across the miles!
Thank you for all the training. Since I've had Lupus for years, my whole family knows the phrase..."Enjoy the good days and live through the rough ones." BTW, I had a Martyn of my own who helped me every time I tried to paste on the wrong side of the paper. HeeHee. I'm glad you appreciate Martyn, like I appreciated my beloved Don.
I'm sorry you lost Don.... I do appreciate marty and it's good he keeps me right. Yes lupus.... A miriad of symptoms on day and gone the next or weeks of illness then nothing your right you just enjoy it when you can x x
Thank you for providing us with another amazing creation! And please take care of yourself. Life can get hard with ongoing illnesses. Thank you both again.
What a perfect project to watch today. I have a small stash of broken mirror glass and have always known I would do something with it, but wouldn't have thought to cut the triangle pieces with that handy dandy tool. I was just going to tap the pieces with a hammer and put them together with the pieces of a broken favorite vintage plate. A mosaic, but nothing special. Would I have trimmed the pieces with clay? Doubt it. Would I have added decoupage paper? Doubt it. Would I have thought to use safety goggles? Absolutely not. You always manage to take things to another level, then to another and another. Your creativity knocks my socks off . I've seen your Nellie paper; pure 60's psychedelic. I was more of a romantic flower child and wouldn't have thought to use that paper. You made it look like stained glass that wouldn't be out of place in a church. Love the gold stencil on the bare wood sides. Weren't the sides painted blue when you started? The little green glass tiles outlined in red paint are beautiful. Just when I thought the piece was finished, you added tiny leftover bits of a transfer then a scrap of inlay😲😲😲 Glad to know you're keeping this little delight! Great music Marty. ❤
I enjoyed the music on this one today, I hadn't heard it until someone commented, so I went to listen to it. Yes, Im Glad you have broken mirrors Elena there a handy thing to keep ..... Good job we are a pair of hoarders 😂😂😂
Wow, I was not sure how this was going to turn out, but I always trust your judgement to turn whatever you touch into a treasure. This one is really cool! I'm not sure I would have the patience to score and cut out all the glass pieces, but the effect is so cool. Hope you're feeling better! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Lel, this was a beautiful nod to using yet another medium to create a one of a kind piece! Hope you get to feeling better soon. You are just magic!!
What a great idea with the broken mirror. It's a really fun piece. I didn't notice you had the wrong piece of paper. Eithrt 😅. Hope you feel better soon.
Awesome project and Martin's music for the reveal makes it a party! Your work is incredible...watching you cut glass made me cringe though, you did good!!
This piece is awesome! I only wish I had seen this video before I tossed a mirror that had broken a few days ago. I'll definitely not make that mistake again. Thank you for sharing yet another inspirational tutorial.
Lel could you please remind me which gold paint you used for stencilling? I'm not liking the effect I get from mine (liberon) and I think you said yours was water based? I admire your determination to keep going when you're feeling like s***! Get well soon.
I'm not sure what is more terrifying to me...a snake or 7yrs bad luck. I can't afford for too much more to go not so right in my life 🤣🤣🤣. But I love doing mosaics and what a way to save landfill🧡🧡🧡
I just finished writing a comment, long as usual, when it disappeared and took me to someone ordering me to read the 50 most important books in the world.😡😡😡 I'll come back.
Before I forget to ask... I've been meaning to ask how much you are willing to pay for a piece of furniture. (dresser - cabinet - desk/vanity) Vintage pieces are quite popular these day in home design and I have found that the cost has gone UP! Even pieces that need work. It's a problem. I think I need to search out yard sales where people are looking to get rid of stuff rather than in thrift shops and second hand stores. So, how much do you pay, or are willing to pay before you pass on a piece???
Yes I would agree sydni even in the uk the pieces I used to buy are harder or much more expensive to find and buy. If it's an antique I will pay a little more if marty has checked it and it is structurally okay. However I have been stung before as I've bought things I have not seen in the flesh from auctions and when I get them they are riddled with woodworm. This can be treated but it's a lot of hard work and effort. And I never fully trust them so a few have had to be burned which is heart breaking. If it's vintage which is still very old I will pay up to about £80 but like you they are hard to find antique pieces I will pay more and pine no more than about 20 pounds. This all said we get lots of people donating to us who call us up to come pick up things often they are beautiful sometimes I take them but don't want them as they are to far gone to repair. Broken furniture marty cuts up as either wood to use for building or to make other furniture repairs. I think more people upcycle now which is great for the planet and sad for bargain hunters like ourselves.
I Used to sell antiques and refurbished items. Our rule of thumb (United States) was three and 1/2 times the amount you paid for the item. If you know it won’t sell for that, leave it alone. Also, if you are putting money into it, gas for searching out an item, repairs, painting, refurbishing, whatever you’re doing you have to add those costs. At the end of the day you should get 3 1/2 times the total amount. Sometimes you’re going to get 10 times that amount! Sometimes you’re going to go in the hole 😩 , as we all make bed bets, but if you keep the rule of 3 1/2 it makes it kind of simple for you. Also, I found that buying from an individual is always cheaper than going to a resale store. However, you can’t rule them out because people go into this business and go out of it all the time. Why? Because they put too much in and get to little out. My husband and I did 90% smaller items and it was mostly just fun for us after retirement. But we still managed, after cost, to make a profit every month, when it stop being fun, and we quit making money, (because of illness), we quit. I gave away my standing inventory to a gentleman who was in the same mall, with us and had been particularly kind to my husband during his illness. So it pays to be nice to all the other dealers as well. you never know what gifts they may sell or give you.
I think you changed your fate around on that mirror. You should get 7 years of good luck now! I know those shards had me nervous just in case the kids had bare feet and stood on them, I was paranoid I made marty hoover twice 😂😂😂😊
Once again Martyn to the rescue. This is what makes the two of you the perfect duo. As usual great creation
