Yes, definitely. I use the combination of those two modes in my space ambient productions, and it's a pure heaven soundscape.

Oh yes I can definitely imagine that! It's something I will need to tryout.

      Man thank you so much
I make music since 10 years and I really like your format. Short, to the point, intuitive, with example with chords and melody and with your sensitivy.
Somehow I dont have time to make music these day, looking your videos is a way for me to keep the link to my music.
Best from France, thank you for sharing

Thank you Robye. I work very hard on each episode so it is really very satisfying to hear that you like the format! I'm glad it's helping you to stick with music in your busy schedule.

This is awesome, exactly what I needed to watch to inspire me to create a new track. Great also to see you subscriber numbers growing, you deserve much more.
Tried this out this morning, didn't sound that amazing until I added an arpeggio on top of the Ionian / Lydian chord progression. Sounds so much better and exciting. Brilliant.

Sounds great! Yeah it can take some time to tweak it and to make things fit. Especially if you want it to sound natural and intuitive. But once you manage that, it's worth the effort right? 😀

    Holy crap!
I came up with a chord progression just like this
    C Major D Major F Major.
And it sounded like see was the tonic chord but I couldn't figure out why it worked and why C felt like the resolution chord.
    NOW I KNOW!
And what's better is I know how to write a melody and how to use it now!
Moods are so much more interesting and powerful when they're mixed with other modes.

Great examples, especially the D major chord progression. Now do one that has borrowed chords from both the lydian mode and parallel minor :)

2:25 what is producing that melody? I love that sound but can’t tell if it’s a voice with effects or a synth, or a combo of both? Beautiful.

I mean.. it's a really great video but that diminished thing is completely pointless, because that chord progression completely sounds like aeolian.
