Thank you, thank you, thank you for your stream!! Commenting from Oklahoma USA. I love your loose style and all the “talking to yourself” that you do. That’s how we learn.
You are the best.my friend.you shrw your talent to those who cant afford to go to a school but learn the proper way to paint and be great like you..god bless your kindness.and big heart.
The pink building is a wonderful example of the viewer's eye (& brain) filling in the details. I watched you, SAW you paint that building, with shadow & a few squiggles of dark paint. Voila, a building with all kinds of detail around the windows!
Shirley you are the best but I have to say that I enjoyed watching the little bug run around the white edge of your photograph, really very cute and relaxing. You can be silly like me, so it was fun. No worries, you still do the best teaching on line !
I go to the same art shop Shirley, tfs your methods, the lighting is great, after painting for awhile it's amazing the colours one sees that others don't.
I am intrigued by the amount of detail you DON'T include rather than what you DO include, which results in a fresh painting which shows so much more and allows the viewers eye to engage in the scene. I am in the process of doing less to achieve more!
I love your tutorials! Many many thanks for what you're doing for us. And I enjoy the moments you say "Done. No more! .... hm... a little bit of white here... Ok done! ee.... maybe this could be done like this... Ok definitely done... ... ... except this maybe..." And also at the very end I enjoy your smile when you realize that the piece is awesome and you like it so much!!! And so do us. Thanks again!
Beautiful!! I really like your idea of trying some inexpensive paints and see how to make them work. We are retired now and i don't have the disposable income to buy really good artist quality paints. Sometimes when trying to layer a wash to get a deeper color orcshade, I get a flat lifeless color or worse yet , mud. Doesn't stop me from trying but I do get frustrated. Thank you ...I really enjoy watching you wirk!
I plan to buy the cheapest paints I can find, and video my efforts with them. It will be interesting to see how they perform. Especially on budget paper!
This is lovely ❤️ such a clever technique to get the photos proportion transferred thank you for sharing this with us 🙏 I enjoy watching you and learn something each time. You give me inspiration 💗
Thank you for yet another great tutorial. I always enjoy watching you paint, and always learn something new. I am trying to figure out what the larger quill-type brush you used for most of the painting is. I looked at your list of brushes, but would like to know the exact brush and size as I really want to get one exactly like yours (I know I won’t magically paint like you though, lol). If you could let me know, I’d greatly appreciate it. :-)

Hi Shirley, another excellent teaching . I think you've raised the bar for the others. Just a suggestion , couldn't quite see all your left pallette , it's a benefit to see you mix colours .... Can't have too much information . Love the way you did the wash on the left and the cobbles and the light and the people and the shadows . Wonderful thank you so much.
Thank you for watching, and noted! I'll try to include all the palette area in my next video. But this means that the painting will be further away. I'll have to reconsider the angle maybe. Cheers
Hi Shirley Im new to your channel. Love your paintings in the background. What mediums do you paint with? I am trying acrylic but find them too flat and hard to blend. I hate that they dry dark. What would you suggest for a beginner?
+Alicia Garam I use oils for large paintings that need blending. You should use oils too. Acrylics are the hardest paints to use! If cost is a problem, try just buying: burnt sienna and ultramarine blue, and white. Do some paintings with these three colours. This was a beginners exercise at an art school I attended. Fun.

Thank you for this demonstration. It is wonderful to watch you build up the watercolor. I learn a lot just by watching. 😊
Thank you. That’s good to hear.
Very nice! What is that brush you use for most of the painting. It has a lovely point but it’s.a big brush.
Brushes are listed below each video. You might be referring to
