I was just watching a different Thome video thinking the same thing . So underrated it’s not even funny. Over 600 HR’s. So many clutch hits. NEVER accused of PED’s actually during the PED era. Tribe was lucky to have him all those years.

I just went to see my favorite all time player get inducted to the hall. It was one of the greatest events of my life. No one is more deserving than this humble, kind, and giant of the diamond. You were the best Jim, and you would have made Gehrig proud. Thank you for giving us 22 years of thrills. Welcome to eternal greatness
Not an Indians, Sox or Twins fan but much respect to Thome. Rare to find a masher that deserves full respect and wasn't juiced or selfish or whatever. This guy was a beast.
Cleveland had some of the great announcers on tv and radio they made it even more magic

One sunny afternoon as I had the radio on I yelled and told my son you just listened to a future hall of famer hit a 3 2 pitch walk off home run and it was his 500th! Love Jim, wish the Sox could have won something with him. There are so many stories of his generosity. He was so kind and humble when he met my sister and others we know.
April 2001 went to that game as a kid with my mother. Those memories stay with you forever
As an Indians fan who idolized the 90s teams, it's crazy to think that only Thome wound up making the Hall of Fame. Manny is clearly deserving, but likely won't because of PEDs. Albert Belle would very likely have been a 2-time MVP and on his way to at least 500 HR when injuries cut his career short. Kenny Lofton was the best leadoff hitter of the 90s and a borderline case, but there are many less-deserving players already in.
Kenny Lofton will eventually get in. I think the Veterans committe or one of those extra committees will vote in Lofton. Easily top 5 lead off hitter of the 90s and was a key offensive element of a dozen postseason teams.
I forgot he played for so many teams. Jim was seriously one of the greatest of all time.
What a monster. There are actually people who think he isn't a Hall of Famer. Not only do his numbers clearly support him in Cooperstown, but he was a guy you went to the ballpark to see.
Buster Olney wrote a column years ago saying no. Probably been sucking up ever since.
And I like Buster as an analyst. And his reasoning was probably that Thome only won one home run title, only led in slugging and OPS once, wasn't Keith Hernandez(or Brooks Robinson if you go back to his 3rd base days), defensively, etc. Thing is, he was always in the top ten in so many categories - WITHIN the steroid era, while never being linked to anything. As a power hitter, he was absolutely stupendous, and had that Mark McGwire-esque mystique of not just hitting homers, but hitting huge country mile bombs lol. Thome also had incredible longevity. Over 70 career war. Any case against him being a first ballot guy is a really weak one lol.
Not only a first ballot hall of famer, but also extremely underrated. Probably only 2nd to Ruth.
Not only the requisite HR numbers, but wasn't a free swinger. Higher OBP than Gwynn, Rickey, Carew, and Morgan among others
I grew up in Cleveland in the 80s and 90s.. I went to the park to see him and Albert Belle! What a great time to be an Indians fan!
As a Thome fan since 1995, I got to hear some of the greats call his home runs; Tom Hamilton, Harry Kalas, Hawk/Stone, Blyleven/Bremer....dang, those are some damn fine memories.
One of least talked about greatest home run hitters of all time! Dude was a beast! One of my favorite all time ball players.

In about 1995 my wife and I got tickets from work - the sales guys didn't use 'em all, which was unusual, and we were up next on the "free tickets" list - so we went to a game up in Cleveland. I hadn't really followed the Indians for years, because during my youth in Cleveland in the 1960's I'd kind of picked up the sad truth that the Indians weren't going to win the World Series, the pennant, the next series, or tonight's game, so I kind of lost interest. But 30 years later they were doing a lot better, and getting tickets to a game was a pretty nice benefit. Anyways, we get there and we're in the lower deck just behind the 1st base dugout - and just down the row from us there's a guy who was on Thome's back all night. Screaming at him, telling him he sucked, couldn't hit, couldn't catch - and then Thome knocked the ball out of the park.
So I always remember that guy screaming, "Thome, you bum!" a hundred times during the game, and then watching him deflate as the ball sailed out of the park.
He had my 2nd favorite all time swing. Behind Ken Griffey Jr
I love Jim Thome, that home run in the one game playoff in 2008 vs. The Twins was one of the greatest baseball moments of my life.

I met Thome back in 2019, i was nervous to met the guy that I watched him as a kid, it's like meeting a living Legend like feeling of meeting Eli Manning or Joe Montana. Although it was Allstar week .

I'll never forget watching Thome in a Twins uniform welcoming a new reliever for the White Sox. It was the kid's first time pitching in the show and he's facing Jim Thome for his first batter. I don't remember which pitch it was but Thome blasted a shot over the flag poles in right past the entry gate. All I could think was, "Welcome to the big leagues kid."

Candy Banks probably because he was always in someone’s shadow. Early in his career Belle was having 50 HR/50 2B seasons and when he left Manny started hitting 140+ RBI’s every year.

I want to say he finished his career with 607 home runs. Great player, person and teammate. Congts on your 2018 HOF induction. No doubt in my mind he belongs there.

It's crazy he didn't hit a walk off for 5 years from 02-07. He didn't hit any in Philadelphia until his last year in 2012

2002 was a crazy year for Cleveland, started out 11-1, then went 63-87 the rest of the way. Literally had like 15% of our wins in two weeks. Aside from Bartolo, pitching was atrocious, then we traded him for Sizemore, Phillips and the other guys. And Branyan had 33 hits 8 HR and 20 RBI in 50 games and we sent him to Cincy for Ben Broussard (an act I never forgave the Indians for, I'm a massive Branyan fan for some reason), oh and we didn't move Thome in his contract year in one of our dumber front office moves ever (he's why we trade everyone early now).
