- So its been a while since the last E30 video and its because we've ran into a huge issue which has the build completely on hold, we cannot get the manifold to fit around the steering knuckle, ive tried absolutely everything and im at the end of the line now.. we have to make some drastic measures.
But firstly.. we have fully rebuilt the entire rear end on the car, so lets get that together and back on the E30!
Dont worry about the manifold flow... there is a great episode of Engine Masters where they dyno tested a V8 with increasingly crushed, dented and flattened manifolds and it made bugger all difference and its going to make even less difference on a standard tune road car engine.
Is the clearance issue because RHD?

Lee honestly, mate get a custom tubular manifold on will also give you more power, they will be able to bend it around the steering arm 👍
Personally I'd be spraying everything as it goes in haha the arms ect 😅

Credit to you or anyone who works on cars themselves day in day out, done many things myself but mainly things that are considered easier jobs.
But for you to do this or work on cars as much as you do I don’t know how, I’ve finished doing springs on my Meg 3RS today and I was ready to set the fucker on fire 🔥 (French, obviously as you know they never make it easy)
Have you compared the ls400 with soarer manifolds? Pretty sure they're slightly different.
If the sparks from cutting the manifold are really orange , its cast, if the sparks are light yellow , it's steel/ stainless. Now if they are bright white, it's titanium.!! 😬
I'm a welder/fabricator and I wish we were closer because I would enjoy problem solving with the manifold

Lee mate I know you ain’t scared but do yourself a favour give the car and engine or any parts your working on a clean outside with a jetwash to save yourself getting so filthy 🤣 side note your welding skills are definitely getting better! I can see your enjoying yourself in videos more again aswell
Weld the pipes facing down mate. You could also place a silencer anywhere even at a side exit. Full systems are pointless and knock like fk mate.
man just bring stuff up another level take a little more time clean things up and paint nice new painted rear subframe bolting crusty manky stuff on looks rubbish

3uzfe or lexus ls430 exhaust manifolds. They hug the block and are a direct fit. Easy fix
If you can, you will be best not joining the pipew together as then you are running 4 cylinders through one small pipe. Keep the two pipes you have tacked on as separate lines and run them both into a flange which then increases the size. Basically how it was but move the flange further towards the bulkhead out the way of the knuckle? So in theory your just extending the two pipes.
