Don't think it's "homemade" fuel. That's just the method for distributing it, in old soda bottles vs a gas station. Alot of people ride motorcycles, the soda bottles hold enough for them and since they don't use much fuel, not worth it to drive long distance to reach a pumped gas station. This method is common in many countries where motorcycles are popular.
Huge countries keeping small countries poor! Why do we have different value of money? How come that your 1 dollar could buy a kilo of rice in our country and our 1 peso won't be able to buy anything in your country?
OMG..I can’t help but wonder how the spitting is effect the spread of COVID in India Thank you for these amazing videos. I’m disabled and your series makes my world so much larger.
as a brazilian, and as a person who enjoyed carnival in my younger years, i can't deny the relief of not having carnival this year, as bad as it is for workers involved in it. carnival represents what brazil has of most dysfunctional.
The worthy part is the beginning about the mining in Indonesia ( the history of tin mining is the history of the poorest countries in the world, and some of the richest insurers and bankers. Bolivia used to have more tin than anyone else ... owned by British companies and ... capital. It is still a fourth world country).
Those houses are like the ones that keep appearing all over RUclips, where you have 2 people digging with primitive tools and making those amazing mud houses that have pools and slides etc etc
Great start to the documentary saying the workers are "knee deep" in mud and show not even up to ankle, then say the guy's house is sheet metal when it's wood with a metal roof. Did the commenter even see the video as he commented?
That spitting problem is also the same problem some barrios here in the Philippines. We called it "nganga." There are times that we experienced shortage of the leaves used in nganga.
ive a neighbour here in east tn. their house is mostly underground. i assisted with its construction about 15 years ago, actually its a pretty cool place. we recently installed quite a few lcd tvs along with cameras to mimic windows. works pretty good. and set it up so they are notified when someone is approaching.
Omg id love to live in a house like the Chinese under ground. That looks amazing to be fair. And did I hear right he lives with his parents children and grandchildren how old is his parents then he looks atleast 70+
I used to watch this same mining in Malaysia in 70s, obviously nothing has changed then, we used camp on the old mine tailings, especially important as for our support bases and helicopter landing zones way out in the jungles,
As I’m watching them work I’m beginning to think there must be a more organised and safer way to work their allocated area . I can’t believe this is how tin is mined . It just shows you how many people put their lives at risk to make little money to survive . I once on my travels visited a village called Matmarter in the African desert . The originally nomadic people there live in very large holes in the ground due to the heat. The Star Wars production featured their village in the first film. As a result they were all paid handsomely and had electricity via generators installed then luxuries like TVs were bought . Now they have tourists visiting because of the movie’s success and feel embarrassed about their moves into the 20th century ,so for the times when the tourists come they hide the cables etc . All those years ago this was all very new for them when I visited one family of a young friend. He was explaining that it was all happening too fast for some of his elder relatives but he was pleased that his view of the world was so much bigger now .
I love this episode! Is there a way to contact Ivan? My heart goes out to the individuals who have to live on those kinds of conditions and still have to work because it's the only real job that makes money.
Ya it’s hard to watch, tough conditions. They had the bad luck of being born into that situation. Certainly doesn’t seem fair. These guys just want a decent living, no different than anyone else..
