I have a ledger but haven't tried it with Ledger live. Personally I keep the ledger as full cold storage so I make it a point to not trade or connect to anything with it.

You can withdraw you stake whenever you want?
That's the plan, but withdrawing any staking rewards won't be available until after the ETH Shanghai update.
