im not korean but just reading the english translation of Mino's rap.. it was already deep but to hear yall explain the wordplay of the korean words. it's even deeper. TT People who say that his rap was trash they dont know kpop ong
i loved the lyrics interpretation, i want to add more hehe
1. the "spray raindrops on the cheeks/clown/entertainer" part also relates back to the rusting umbrella shielding the members from negativity thrown at them by people
2. the "sun setting" part could also mean Taeyang stepping down for a while to raise his kid and build his family
This is why this cover is so pleasant at least for me. Yoon and Mino don't change the emotions from the original version. Even though the voice color is different and the way they sing and carry the rap part is different, we can feel the same extraordinary emotions as we did in the original version. Kang Seungyoon, I have repeatedly acknowledged him as a singer because, aside from his unique voice color, he is always amazing at bringing a song he sings to life so that his emotions can be conveyed to the listeners, and this is not the first time.
And I believe this is why he has won the position of King in Masked Singer six times, because even without people seeing his face, he is very good at conveying emotions through his nonverbal cues and how he sings a song.
I'm not going to say anything about Mino because I'm just speechless, he’s just too perfect on this cover hahaha I'm just glad that you noticed how the emotions were conveyed in this cover version.
Oh, and I have a suggestion for you to see: Seungyoon has appeared on several occasions at events in South Korea, perhaps you could make a video to react to him. I'm confident you won't be disappointed, and I'm confident you'll understand what my words about Seungyoon and how he conveys emotion on every his performance. My two favorites are when he sang Haebaragi's old song "With Love" and when he performed "My Love By My Side" on Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook. I would appreciate it if you could respond to these two performances, because I believe that more people should be aware of Seungyoon's talent.

that's why Mino is known as a "lyrics genius" cause every lyrics on his rapp will definitely have a double meaning. Mino is very good at playing words and Yoon is very good at bringing songs until we can feel the sadness of this song..

Yoon & Mino's Cover of Still Life is probably the most emotional & meaningful cover because it not only gave us all the feels Bigbang left with that song, but also if you think how close #Winner is to their #Bigbang Sunbaes esp during those good & bad times, it makes their interpretation even more personal. They know what happened and they saw the aftermath, they suffered along with them. So yeah, I can't get over this. Mino you are such a lyrical genius! And Seungyoon, you own that "storytelling" genre of singing at this point T_T
This subunit put two completely different artists but makes them work perfectly.
This is absolutely the best Still Life cover hands down. Yoon's vocals capturing both Youngbae and Daesung's soulful and raspy powerful vocals. And Mino doing his thing by putting his own spinoff w/o disrespecting Jiyong and Older Seunghyun's verses. This is why you can never beat WINNER when it comes to covers

This is why it baffles me that some VIPs are not happy with Mino adding his own verse. I mean, it's a COVER. They think it's disrespectful. Isn't it more disrespectful if Mino raps the same verse even if it's not his own story? He even added references to BB. Your interpretation of Mino's rap is beautiful. I don't know but I've been crying the whole time. It felt like there was a gaping hole inside me. I'm a VIP and an IC. I have seen what my boys from both groups go through over the years. I was a silent spectator. Big Bang has their imprint on Winner. Mino is just on another level . He is at the top of his game and one of the best Rappers in Korean Hip Hop field. His lyrics are always so beautiful poetic fun and interesting. He's not only genius at word plays but also good at Diction Flow Rhymes punch lines. He is a gifted producer too. His compositions are just so creative and unique. Such a rare &talented Musician.

might be a reach but one of the korean comments that i google-translated on their cover video says that the 'dot' might also represent the big crunch. it's one of the theories on how the universe will end by, according to wiki, contracting and collapsing into a dot that gets smaller and eventually reduce into a "state where it began"―to initiate another big bang

Thanks for taking the time to explain Mino's lyrics because we do lose a lot when reading only the translation. After hearing your take on it, I believe the first verses are definitely about BIGBANG but I think the second part is about MINO because of what he said in that show about being depressed when he was the most popular. He's still struggling so I'm guessing he regrets not having fun at that time like BIGBANG did when they were at their prime or even now. And you can just tell he is sad BIGBANG is no longer at the top and won't be for a while.

This cover was just a masterpiece honestly, they kept the vibe and feel of the song but changed it completely as a whole . I honestly am just a casual listener of WINNER maybe but not a fan, it's just a matter of preference, i know they're talented as frick though (i do love YOON though) but little by little i'm starting to get into them, and MINO as a rapper wasn't exactly my type but when i gave his music a try and tried to genuinely listen (plus you and Form Of Therapy's song analysis) his artistry just hits so hard! He is really something else
Hearing this cover for the first time, the feelings they conveyed alone brought me to tears, without even understanding the lyrics properly TvT Yoon's raw vocals and emotions, MINO pushing and pulling with the beat/flow is reaaally interesting and he makes it work so well, it sounded like poetry... Idk if it's just me but YG artists are a different breed, we have a saying in Arabic that goes smth like " Suffering creates creativity" i feel like because almost all of their groups went through some serious sh*t, their creativity and artistry is unrivaled, their thought process and wisdom is astounding ^^
