Hi, Dr. Ryan! Your vids are so helpful for a post-grad student reviewing for boards like me. Regarding this series, when will the mandibular molars be uploaded?

The last one was uploaded today! I’m so glad they are helpful for you 😊

Hi, Dr. Ryan! Thank you so much for the effort your videos are very helpful. Regarding the cusp sizes, you mentioned that the distobuccal cusp is the smallest however, in the dental decks it says the distolingual cusp is the smallest of all 4 cusps as it can even be nonexistent.

You’re welcome, Aya! You discovered one of the frustrating things about dental anatomy that I don’t want you to worry about too much. The cusp sizes are not always consistent! Sometimes the distofacial cusp will be smallest, and other times the distolingual cusp will be smallest or even nonexistent like you mentioned.

Hi Dr Ryan, I am a bit confused. Some resources say that 3 canals are more common than 4 canals for the max 2nd molar....

The maxillary first molar definitely has 4 canals more often than 3. For the maxillary second molar it is a lot closer, and different sources say different things. I still subscribe to the numbers I’ve reported in this video, but you are right to say that it is a debated topic!
