Hi, I’m going to try to give some developer comment here.
So Real-Scale Mass Recall. This is part of the Real-Scale 2.0 series, and all extra options in Real Scale 2.0, such as different scaling options, kill/death counters, unlocking extra units and all units, are also available here.
I have also done QoL adjustments to the base MR campaigns, such as fixing the hotkey conflicts in base MR. I also made almost all cutscenes skippable. Cutscenes were not skippable by default because it actually takes work sometimes to make them skippable and clean up correctly. As such cutscene skips might still have bugs that need to be discovered.
One big change I did was to drastically nerf Mass Recall’s difficulty. You always start with more and better stuff than in the original campaign, and the AIs could actually run out of money. Many missions have already been tested in brutal. They are still a bit harder than base sc2’s brutal difficulty, but definitely not as hard as original MR.
Now to the specific things in this video.
First you might notice that in mission 2, Raynor’s survival had become a bonus objective. Basically, in most missions if the heroes aren’t needed for the objective, you are allowed to lose them and continue the mission.
In mission 3, I made the player start with a factory and spider mines researched to encourage the use of vulture. I also tweaked the vulture’s weapons to fire before turning to making them great kiting units like in SC1.
The spider mine and sunken colonies display bonus damage vs Capital Ships, because they deal “explosive” damage. Since there was only 3 different damage types in Starcraft 1, I decided to make them consistent so that all explosive damage is doubled against capital ships. Essentially things like spider mines, sunken colonies, and siege tanks display bonus damage against capitals just for consistency, they do not actually fight capital ships.
(By the way, the famous problem of corsair dealing low damage against mutas was not because of armor calculations, but because tag-based damage reduction stacked additively with splash runoff. This meant Corsair’s splash doing 50% of main target’s damage combined with small units taking 50% less damage resulted in -100% damage, meaning the splash damage always dealt a minimum damage of 0.5 to mutas regardless of armor. Base MR did try to make explosive damage the same way as SC1, but it was actually pretty tricky with splash and it seemed the MR team never really figured it out.)
Thank you for your awesome work! This is gonna be SUPER fun to watch and eventually play! ^v^
Changes here all seem smart amd well executed, which is already fantastic. Can't wait to hear about more on the later missions! ^v^
Not a player, just a grant video enjoyer, but just wanted to thank you for continuing the real-scale legacy and the beloved work of people's favorite modders! I look forward to seeing your work in the coming grant videos :)
Plz tell me this will be added to base MR as a QoL mod? This fixes a lot of things with MR and it be a shame it be lock behind a mod
@@JimRaynorRaidersecond this. I would install your mod just to play "original" mass recall with your improvements, if you can disable the actual "real scale" stuff.
So, why is the max range fore marines all of fifty feet? How is that “real scale”?
I've noticed one interesting but very important detail - instead of "Raynor must survive" main objective, you have "Keep Raynor in the Frontline" bonus one.
Great catch! Love to see it!
What can we say, he is a man of action
It sounds less gamey like "Raynor can respawn" but also less punishing of "Raynor must survive"
@@Qchaos.Sounds like a plan. Time to man up !
We Death Korp of Kriegs now bois, shoot your commander if they aren't within 500ft of the frontline for COWARDICE !
Me seeing the title of the video in the notification: "YES THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!"
Legit my response “WHAT?! HELL YEA LETS GO!!”
17:57 - Grant's relationship with Starcraft begins to move in an entirely new direction
It's me playing Devil May Cry 5
Such collision courses
That was very sexually charged.
I liked the random combination of Grant: "I have an issue where", Firebat: "My Goose is getting cooked" into the Ultra appearing.
Can't wait to see Mengsk's battle cruiser fleet in that one mission.
Ok, ok, hear me out.
_Nukes._
Yeah, sheepyards are cool, but... Siege of Korhal opening in any scenario. That oughtta be EPIC.
12:50 Wow, it's WoL Real Scale all over again. Grant has a decently big army and pokes at the zerg, runs into his first ultralisk which proceeds to eat half his army and then gets swarmed by the rest of the zerg defenses and loses almost everything else.
Also, if you want to really break your habit of moving your mouse to the edge of the screen to look around, you can just disable "mouse scroll" in options under "mouse and keyboard".
If that's what the base UltraIisk does, I'm scared to see what the torrasque does in "To Chain the Beast" in real scale. You won't have a whole cargo ship full of whoop ass, you'll be getting a full fleet
that plus 3 armor upgrade and 3 attack upgrade, an absolute beast
Look how the ultra does splash damage, torrasque gonna 1 shot groups of marines/firebats/medics and it's gonna be wonderful
Me: "Finally trying Mass Recall"
Grant: Welcome to Real Scale Mass Recalll
He´s always one step ahead of me, darn
"If you are interested in more real scale mass recall, say so"

Knowing how brutal Mass Recall can be, this actually might be scary, and cool! (Can't wait to see Eye of the storm)
That Ultra was actually scary at that size.
Also hope you give Winter Assault another try, or at least the Good Campaign.
i was wanting to rewatch the mass recall series, but now this is coming out.
I'm genuinely so excited to see this, it's going to be so intimidating in the later story when high tech units show up at large scale looking like SC1 models. Insanely cool stuff. (Also I love how readable Mass Recall is, because the SC2 scaling and movement looks so much better than the lower visual quality of the original)
The only issue is that the lightning really interferes with readability. Sometimes it's really hard to tell what's actuall happening on screen, it's just too dark.
Grant, a great tip to unlearn edge panning is that you can deactivate it in the options. Afterwards, when you get forced to use the middle mouse, it's just a matter of playing a few customs to make your brain get used to it.
Yo, this is awesome! Can't wait to see how they handle SC1 big boys like capital ships and ultras in those classic SC1 corridors and canyons.
That ultra on the bridge gives a great indicator, spooky big boys! O.O
2:20: Great job, Grant, perfect Spider mine placement.
5:10 And just like that, Infested Terran got even more terrifying.
12:53 My goodness that is so freaking terrifying!
Yeah, love this mod already. I seriously can't wait for air units to come in, especially Battlecruisers and Carriers. Those are gonna be massive.
Excited for Starcraft 2 Real Scale Azeroth Reborn Mass Recall Footmen Only Deathless!
through this whole video youve got this silly grin on your face, like this is bringing out the kid who became hooked on the og Starcraft and i love it.
I cant wait to have all 3 campaigns in the SC2 engine with real scale, what a time to be alive
I know that the damage values are going to be different from their vanilla counterparts but I still hope that the mod makers fix the math error in Mass Recall's upgrades.
In SC1 explosive damage deals 100% to large, 75% to medium and 50% to small. However, weapon upgrades give a fixed increase against all unit types, so +1 damage is one extra point of damage instead of MR's +1/+0.75/0.5 damage,
Similar thing goes for concussive damage (firebat, vulture and ghost) though it's 100% to small, 50% to medium and 25% to large.
I was afraid something like this wouldn't happen, glad to see sc geetting the real scale treatment
Wow, that's awesome, someone actually made a mass recall mod, mod within a mod, mod-ception
This is a thing of beauty. Eclairtle is my hero.
This is what I suggested so long ago when you did your playthrough of regular mass recall! So glad to finally see it!
I was thinking how awesome this would be but assumed it was too obscure to happen. Im hype!!
something that you should also learn is setting camera locations. this is something i still dont even do, but it genuinely can massively improve your play. most of the time you set them to base locations. its not as huge in SC2 as it is in SC1 because you can select more than 1 building and add them to a hotkey, but it's still important for things like larva injects and being able to quickly jump around the entire map without having to click on the minimap
petition to call this Starcraft: Mass Real-Scale
I feel like the spider-mine's "Capital Ship damage" is because some ground units in Starcraft 1 were BEEG and have thus been classified using the Capital Ship system..... although honestly, outside of the Reaver, I'm not sure what else would count....
Grant just casually mentioning he hangs out with Scarlett. :P
I mean it was probably an RTS consulting thing but still.
Seeing this video come out last night was a very welcome surprise! I'm incredibly excited to see what real-scale has in store for SC1 after all the joys it brought to the SC2 campaigns.
Hey Grant,
Please take a secound to place your Spidermines with intention.
They deal friendly fire and like the 3rd spider mine blew 20 others streight to hell.
Interesting in the series btw.❤
It's cool to see Mass Recall and Real-Scale meet. For added authenticity, you should limit yourself to only commanding 12 units at a time!
That sounds horrible. Completely, utterly unplayable.
All I can think of is the Dylarian Shipyards…
I’m really excited to see more of this series!! Thank you for doing what you do by the way ^-^
Can't wait for the Science Vessel.
Also remember: The terran fleet in SC1 uses the Behemoth Class Battlecruiser (as opposed to the minotaur class ones in SC2).
And they are bigger. The hyperion is a Behemoth Class Battlecruiser.
*This is where the fun begins.*
@@bass-dc9175What about the Overmind? Wouldn’t he just be a giant, capital ship sized building in the middle of the map?
@@sssddd4812 "Real scale" doesn't do real scale buildings because you can't do real scale maps. Kinda amusing how StarCraft 2 isn't built to even have the possibility of full real scale so it looks like a boxing match in a sandbox. Kinda sad that nobody finds this whole "real scale" thing worth the effort of bothering to use SupCom, the game built with real scale as the point, as a base.
@@sssddd4812 Overmind is, like, Mothership-sized
No, chief, they ain't reworking Eye of the Storm to be Eye of the Swarm
I haven't even watched this and already know this will be the greatest thing. Thank you so much for making it
This series is fascinating! I never played mass recall, but your series was really fun. A revamp seems awesome!
14:15 Grant momentarily turns German.
I am not sure what the economic cost would be or if the modders you employ would be willing... but have you considered employing a good amount of them to actually make a true polished Complete SC1 campaign in the Starcraft 2 engine? That actually is balanced and high quality and even get the two-three player coop treatment? SC1 on your channel is truly an untapped resource. I binge anything you put out SC1 related. Would love to see SC1 get a mod treatment it truly deserves as well as provide a huge amount of content to your channel. That is multiple new massive series between a polished version and potential coop playthroughs with Jay or Ace. While Mass Recall has been a breath of fresh air in terms of just being able to have it.... we really need a true version to do it justice...
Yoooothey actually made Real Scale Mass recall. They kept saying it would be a bunch of work and denying it would ever happen... They played us like fiddles and its gonna be good I bet.
7:39 It was at this moment I noticed the Adjutant peeking from behind Grant. It scared the hell out of me.
Didn’t expect a halo joke but I appreciate the “this is not a natural cave formation” reference
This is such a good idea can't wait for this to be available to play
2:52 Dont think we didn't see you peeking at us like that Adjutant 😂
I'm super excited to watch this series, thank you for the quality entertainment as always Grant! Hope you're taking care of yourself too.
Really interested in real scale mass recall and i hope you manage to play as much of it as the modder can make for it!
Also, i know it's 10 centuries too early, but can i already cast my vote for disabling zerg responses for the zerg campaigns, because i'm fine with them being disabled and they're loud
Yes, please! More of this! I love seeing mods to modded games!
middle mouse panning is SO good, it feels way better too
This will be SO interesting and amazing
I cannot wait to see how it goes
This is great! I hope the entire SC franchise can become real scale.
Thank you for showing us this new mod. I would love to see more of it. Have a wonderful time
This video makes me so very happy. Thank you :)
You know, something I would like is a SC Original and Brood War story campaings but with modified missions and bonus objectives, so it works more like SC2. Samples to get zerg and protoss tech for research, credits for completing objectives and upgrades to buy, things like that
Very excited about this, I’ve been thinking that Mass Recall was untapped opportunity. My fingers have been crossed for some race swapped mass recall campaigns!
BroodWar ultralisks were MUCH smaller than the ones in SC2. They were actually pretty fast for something so big.
If you put the real scale sc1 ultralisk side by side to SC2 ultralisks, they are indeed smaller. Although there actually isn’t a consistent scale for sc1 ultras. Their size relative to marines and vultures should be correct as shown in the brood war cinematic.
It will be cool to see the changes that has UEDAIP in this Mod of Mass Recall
This is going to be great!
Oh fuck this series is gonna be good ! broodwar campaign with mass recall is gonna be fun
Y E S M O R E R E A L S C A L E
I would love to see more of this, it seems pretty fun
09:19 inb4 Kerrigan is classed as a Capital Ship
Yessss! I was hoping for this one since the first Real Scale mod!!
I was quietly excited and anticipating this
Real scale mass recall? Oh grant you bring us the greatest gifts
Can’t wait for the next video! It’s great to se Grant so happy!
Oh yes, I for one am excited for Real-Scale Mass Recall Brood War. The fights will be so fun, also that title is fun to say!
YES. OH MY GOD I'VE SO BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Mass recall and that too real scale!! All right, BRING IT ON!!
I always played WC3 in a window with the top bar and task bar visible, which made edge panning unviable on the top and bottom direction, so I learned to middle mouse pan. When Dota 2 was still in beta I played and always used it, and would comment any time I spectated someone who I could see was also doing it. It's nice to see it get some love!
This series is so much fun!
This looks so fun. I cant wait to be able to play this!!!
Grant over here talking about breaking their edgescrolling habit by using the middle mouse, meanwhile I never knew about the middle mouse either and went right into only clicking on the minimap to look around.
Petition to rename the mod to Startcraft: Massive Recall
I'm certainly looking forward to Norad II mission
Always happy for more real scale!
Oh fuck, the crossover we needed!
Oh, here's something I never thought would happen. Cool! I bet Episode 3 is gonna be one hell of a ride lol, not to mention New Gettysburg and.. I forget Ep1 mission 10's name, but that one.
In regards to the middle mouse button thing: I actually used to only use edge-panning or the minimap to move my screen, until relatively recently. But, because middle mouse button is so intuitive, even without me trying to, it ended up becoming the primary way I move my screen around in many RTSes. I'm pretty sure you'll mostly switch over in like a week.
You guys are so nuts!! Love your work!!
Im excited for this going live to the public.
I can't wait for Real Scale, Mass Recall: Zealots only.
Clearly, the Spider mines will either stack on top each other to reached the capital ships, or start doing web slinging.
This series is gonna be great!
You know what's funny?
I have a tic. When I'm overly excited, I keep tapping my head rapidly, seemingly to releave tension or stress. And right now, I'm playing a heavy metal drum solo.
Woohoooo!
Thank you for upgrading to 4k!
So detailed :D
Cant wait to see the protoss in here, they'll be huge compared to the terran and zerg
HERE COMES THE GANTRITHOR
@@sssddd4812 OH FUCK
The N64 version of Desperate Alliance is always the superior version of the map compared to the PC original.
I will never understand why Lard disabled the "kill the hatchery" trigger for PC.
Grant, Spider Mines do friendly fire, including other Spider Mines
An' 'ey don' do nuffin' if they're destroyed this way
Spread them out, mash them, put them in a stew
Wow! Looking forward to that serie!
WHATTTT this is really a thing? awesome!
This is incredibly cool, I can't wait to play it!
The instant the ultra popes out i said dont you wish you had stim now. I then died when grant said you know what if thats going to happen we might want stim
The cinematic lighting and the size of the mariners makes it a bit hard to see what's going on. I'm still hopeful for this series. But if there's any way of improving that, that would be highly appreciated.
edit: Never mind. For some reason my video defaulted to 360p. I haven't seen that happen since the late middle ages.
Wow, that adjutant skin is so pretty!!
If ultras have splash area damage, I hope the BC's got their rapid fire attack, and hope so wraiths are good as wings of liberty real scale wraiths, making a trash unit into a really good one
Lore accurate spidermine almost killing jimmy
A delightful surprise - let's gooooooo
This is awesome!
Please continue the Real-Scale Startcraft: Mass Recall series! :D
This is going to be great. Im so excited to see what they did with the BC attack. Is it gonna be like a tank spash? Or will it continue to be hilariously bad at killing marines.
good fun, more real scale mass recall!
