I interviewed the Golden Gate Quartet in the south of France a few years back. They were really nice individuals to talk to. And their music is of course wonderful!

These ones just imitate the real Golden Gate Quartet. Since Wright retired they are a shadow; no talent.

Le gars chante faux et manque de présence sur scène. Vous n'avez pas dû vivre les beaux jours des Golden Gate, Madame. Regardez les vidéos du vrai groupe; vous verrez que l'équipe actuelle est dépourvue de talent, à l'exception de Franck Davis. Comment s'en étonner, quand le chef en est Paul Brembly, qui lui-même en manquait, même s'il chantait juste. C'est par son oncle, pourtant brillant (Orlandus Wilson) qu'il intégra le groupe.
Luckily seen this GREAT BAND several times in the past and hope to see them again in the near future :)

Nice imitation of the original GGQ but if you ever have a chance, listen to some original GGQ records from the 50s and 60s you will be blown away.

(Not at all one of the best formations from a legendary group and name, that is disappointing to listen to.) Para nada una de las mejores formaciones de un grupo y nombre legendario, que es decepcionante de escuchar.
Somehow you the only one who finds this performance disappointing...This is not the original Golden Gates but this is still a very good performance, in my opinion.

They should not have sung St. Louis woman. This is a gospel group. I don’t want them doing secular music.
They've been doing both for many decades. They had a radio show in the 50s where they would do secular music every other episode, and religious music for the other episodes.
À part Franck, ils sont tous à phone. Aucun son ne sort de leur bouche. Le niveau n'est vraiment plus à la hauteur depuis le départ de Clyde Wright... paul est toujours aussi ridicule et dénué de talent...

Good to know I'm not the only one thinking that, though I would put it differently. I have always been annoyed by Brembly shaking his head in every single song. After Wright's retirement they don't measure up.
@@megsjlv7358 Paul learned it from the best, from his great uncle Orlandus Wilson. Clyde Wright's voice never blended in the group's sound. The best second tenor the Gates had was Henry Owens, of course, but after Owens it was Calvin Williams.
@@andrejjanjetovic5198 I might agree with you in respect of the great Orlandus Wilson, a great arranger and musician. I still hold Clyde Wright to be one of the best 2nd tenors in the history of the GGQ - indeed a great singer. I know of singers who were inspired by his talent and performances. About Michael Robinson and Paul Brembly, they lack soul, personality, maybe talent, as soloists. This personnel of the GGQ and their arrangements just don't measure up.
I’m just glad they are keeping the spirit alive, I hope it continues for many years.
