Exploring Mysore (Mysuru), India's Charming Royal City 🇮🇳

- I spend the day exploring Mysuru, formerly known as Mysore. This leafy and charming Indian city contains some of India's most prestigious royal history - the Mysore Palace being the second most visited attraction in India after the Taj Mahal.

I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and RUclipsr who's been to 60 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017.
I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This marked the start of my efforts to turn vlogging into a full-time job.
After that European trip I explored much of Asia: visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan.
I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine.
I've travelled to North America just once as a RUclipsr, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.
In 2022, I took my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting Kenya and Tanzania, before heading to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai and Lebanon. Europe followed, covering both the Greek and Turkish sides of Cyprus, and afterwards going back to Italy for the second time to cover Milan and Sicily. I then visited the Caribbean for the first time, covering the Dominican Republic, before heading to both Brussels and Amsterdam, then covering Taiwan and the Philippines in Asia. I finished off the year with a trip around Morocco.
I started my travels in 2023 by finally visiting Paris, taking the Eurostar from London. I then headed over to Qatar for a few days, before heading to the south of India.

Wow! I just fell in love with Mysore (Mysuru) from watching your video Jason! I love the architecture, the Palace, and the more 'laid back' feel of the city! I want to definitely visit Mysore!
One of my favorite cities in India, people are too honest.
Proud to be a Mysurian!❤🥺
Mysuru is not overcrowded or overwhelming like other indian cities, very nice to see mysuru❤
Thank you Mr Jayson for visiting our Mysuru as a Mysuru citizen I am so happy by watching this video and thanks for showcasing our city.
Hi Jayson, India spent a week in Bangalore 2013 done some tenders for Amazon even back then what was the financial district was amazing, offices buildings hotels were so clean it was unbelievable, the people ultra friendly pubs were great, as i am a curry lover got to say the taste and flavours totally different to what i was used too back in the UK great videos thank you.
Just a point Mysuru is not famous for curries, the vegetarian food variety is great here.
Great look at Mysore!! I didn't go there on any of my trips to India. Just too any amazing places in the country!!! Cheers Happy Travels
There’s just so many places to see in India - there’s always a future trip possibility
The markets are so lovely as are the official buildings. The noise level would drive me crazy! It is interesting seeing cows roaming around the streets. It seems very busy, even at night.
I like your video of Mysore. I like your laid back, non judgmental approach to your commentary. India is a country of paradoxes. Yes the honking, and the crowded places annoy lot of people! The thing with India is that you either love it or hate it. The locals are not bothered!!
Thank you for showcasing our city and appreciating the yoga from its origin 🧘♀️🙏😊,
Mysore has some rich history of our country, thankyou for sharing it
Some amazing architecture and public gardens!
Mysore has been once voted at the most cleanest city of India.
Just noticed it much more cleaner and organized comapred to other cities in India.. ❤
yes our mysuru is always in top 3 cleanest indian cities
Will add this to my IT when i visit India ❤️
You are right, I can see one of the cleanest city in India.
Fascinating vlog. Thanks for sharing this journey. Really interesting. Seems like a chilled place 😃❤️
It’s a comparatively chilled city, yeah!
I like the fact that you have always done your homework and have lots of facts to share.
I don't understand the popularity of some of the big travel bloggers who just walk around and talk to a few locals, will eat something they don't have a clue about, just because another travel blogger did it, and got lots of views.
To prove my point, let me give you an example of one of these very popular vloggers, named Luke. He visited a beautiful huge palace perched on a mountain top in India, but had no clue about the place??? He said he couldn't pronounce the name and didn't bother trying either. He then refused to pay the entrance fee because he claimed he was being 'cheated' because India charges more for foreigners than locals to visit these sites.
Most of these vloggers do not understand that it costs a lot of money to maintain these sites. The Indian government invests a lot money, which is really the money that locals have paid in taxes. So the locals have paid their fair share towards the cost of maintaining these attractions.
(This is the same thing as when an Indian student goes to university in the UK, USA or Australia. They pay three times the fees of a local. And again the same argument holds true, a lot of tax money in these countries goes towards maintaining the universities).
But all these travel folk offer nothing, they just walk around these places, like The Walking Dead, with absolutely no clue of the history or the any background information to share. What baffles me is that have so many subscribers??? And maybe I am missing something??
Just a simple Google search could have provided them with all the interesting facts not just for themselves but for their viewers. Unfortunately for a lot of them, they are solely doing it for the views, which is sad. They are going to regret it, later in life. It is clear you have a passion for travel which an inspiration for others to follow.
Thank you for doing your research and always providing a lot of substance in their videos. It is clear traveling is in your blood. Keep up the great work in making not just entertaining but also very informative videos! Bravo!!
ps..sorry, for the long essay.
Thanks Dan. It’s nice to be appreciated for this - though I wouldn’t do it any other way. I feel it’s my responsibility to know what I’m talking about (or at least make an effort to learn). I enjoy that process too. Without any idea travelling to these place would be stale, with no context.
Man, this is great! Exactly put into words how I feel when I watch a few of the other travel bros. Bravo!
You are right brother. They do all that drama and still get a lot of Subscribers. The main reason behind this is the mentality of Indians (most of them, not everyone). They tend to appreciate foreigners who are critical of India's situation. This is all due to the Pro-colonial narrative that is being fed to them from their childhood.
Hey again Jason looks like a lot of fun there Mysore and lots of energy and movement. I like the antiquity of the city and especially at the evening golden hour when everything lights up.
Thanks again for all your hard work its greatly appreciated .
Cheers and Peace
I love Indian Food too.
It’s a cool place - not too intense
Wonderful video take of Mysuru streets n markets n buildings.. Thanks🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊😊 and your commentary is appreciated😊❤🎉

Excellent video! The city looks beautiful.

Lovely. I dont remember much from my visit in 1996. Great video.
Cheers for a cool video,,,peace and happiness
i would love it if you could talk a bit about the connection of mysuru and yoga and maybe interview some people that are studying yoga there, that would be amazing! this video was a really nice introduction to the city
You should come and stay in Mysuru to explore, it is harmless place.
Omg that very amazing... Im always support for u 😊
The Wodayar royal family still controls the palace. The 10 day dasara festival is the main festival of Mysore in which the palace and city will be illuminated. The royal family does not have any political powers but respected by the people as they are part of several cultural and religious ceremonies
InsyaAllah someday I will visit Mysore
Warm welcome to India :)

mysuru is a very spiritual place. it is the birthplace of Sadhguru most famous Guru in the world. Jason billiam also seems to be spiritual soft spoken gentleman just like typical South Indian men.

I am headed to Bengaluru next month and am really enjoying your journey through India!
I don't know if you have covered this. But, how do people feel about you filming/photographing in the streets? Is there any rules and etiquette you recommend following in this part of India. I have seen you avoid faces where possible ( this is always good. Anything else you would suggest?
No such rules. May be in some temples and museums have restrictions
No such rules!
But don't snap pic inside running Temples..
Sir i am from mysore i watched ur mysore vlog its nice to see our heritage city
Hello Bro ❤️🔥 as I moved for a job in Dubai. I am from six months here in Dubai. I was missing my city. Thank you for showing me that beauty Mysore. Love you bro. Lots of love

ನಮ್ಮ #ಮೈಸೂರು💛❤️
ನಮ್ಮ #ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ💛❤️
Most interesting -thank you, Jason
I often wished, dating back to 2010 or so, that I could visit Myore aka Mysuru, I guess, that I could visit an ashram or take Ashtanga in the yoga district, as you called it there, with the old Sri Pattabhi Jois (now deceased). I caught the yoga bug here in Philly when the 'scene' was at its prime. Vinyasa Flow, though. Ashtanga does have a school here, but it is a bit expensive.
Nice video 👏👏
Love Mysore ❤
Nice seeing you Jason
India is so green
Come to Rajasthan state city Jaipur. Jodhpur and udaipur and Kota and chittor city visit bro
Maharaja of Mysore has zero political influence he is just a ceremonial figure.

Devaraja market Mysore was the first planned market of india
While you're in India have you thought about trying to contact Karl Rock? That would be an awesome RUclips cross over
Gosh the weather in Mysooru will put Hawaii to shame
Love your work, you need to do something about the audio though
How long u travelling india for?
Great video. One of the things i noticed was how many men walk around with no shoes on. Thats not a judgement rather an observation
I think there could be a temple or ritual in which people have to walk bare foot.
Jason, you are probably in Hampi at the same time as your mentor, Gabriel Traveler's...
Nice.
6:58 then how can i collect it because its looking great for me
Hi 👋 Simply 😊😊😊! ! ✌️
❤
mysuru citizen here AMA
I dont say anybthink but i love my india,
hello visit hyderabad good to see you in maysore
Bro welcome to kerala next🌴
Wow
The Mysuru city layout and planning and main buildings were built by Raja Wodeyar. Its not done by citizens ! The average Mysurean is not that smart .Raja Wodeyar did it. He deserves full credit 😮
Those fried items you ate in the breakfast are called "aambode". Mysore Brahmin classic
That 200 rs. was double the actual fare
Task 1 done
Please come to Kolkata
Tbh India is really a great country however they have a problem with crash
Tab ke time pe sirf koi choti si baat thi ab Musuru ka sarvanash ho chuka hai communalism mein... Going back three years time I'm not sure I made the wrong decision here...
I'd say that grabbing street food anywhere in India, is not the wisest thing to do. The chances of getting sick are very high, as we travelers to India, several times over, know.
Why targetting India..street foods are not wisest thing to opt in other places of the world also..
@@GaurishankarDutta I'm not targeting India, but be realistic! Everyone gets sick in India. Yes, it's not wise to eat street food in many other countries also.
ಜೈ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ
Why so many random cows walking around?
That’s normal in India - farmers let them roam free when they’re no longer able to be used for dairy reasons I believe - they’re also considered sacred in Hinduism
We will be very happy if you come to Bangladesh
GOOD NIGHT.SWEET DREAMS.
สวัสดี
Over population has killed India
This city looks clean and neat like my city chandigarh which was once so clean and green but now is being destroyed due to traffic

Hi. How much is supposed to be the price for locals for that ride/ distance? Thnx!
Tuk tuk drivers not good
0 political influence. Mysore maharaja. It's only cultural practice now.
