Were you wondering about the guy sleeping on a parkbench? The translation is actually correct. What they mean in the lyrics is, that there is no need for homeless people to sleep on parkbenches anymore, because there are no more homeless people. Sleeping on parkbenches thereby becomes a choice. So if you see someone on a parkbench, then just because he is on a date with a girl.

I'd say it's a super political song. Well maybe not political but challenging the system. By singing about how great everything is once the world ended they're basically telling you how bad everything is right now and why.
Burning down McDonald's and chasing away Nestle as a symbol of both unhealthy mass production and capitalism, cooking in soldiers helmets instead of wearing them in war. There's basically nothing in this song that's not a F the system massage.

KIZ used to make very critical statements on todays society, even if they usually are waaaaaaay rougher with the words they use. This song is the most suitable for minors I ever heard from KIZ. Because the Background of the song. How I would interpret it as german with my knowledge about politics and economics:
They criticism the politic but also the kind of the society cause their believe in money and other goods like gold. Also they paint a picture about a world without hunger, homelessness, overwork, genetic manipulation/industrialization of food, religion and society constructed believes about sex, relationship and in the state itself. In my view the text is mainly attacking the capitalism and its endless greed for MORE. More money, more values, more working hours, more controll, more power...... and so on.
You could say the song is pretty socialistic more then it is anarchistic. Cause in different points its showed "hey look it the world would be a paradise if we just share everything"
To your Questionsmarks about different Words and the worth of money:
The paperplane is made of a 100€ note its about 108 US$.
"Hooray this world is ending" I think a better translation would be "Hooray this is the end of the world" word by word translation would be "Hooray the world is going under". The main point is any kind of disaster happend and the society, nations, values are gone.
"Swinging on vines over the Heinrichplatz" - Heinrichsplatz is just a place in the city of Berlin, the point with the vines just should submit kind of a feeling nobody cares if the city are taken over by nature.
The line "Please Lord, forgive them not, for they know what they do" is pretty good translated and with the deepness it was meant. That belongs to the point I made above for critic to politic and society.
For the line with the "moss-covered halls of the Reichstag" I guess I found a slightly more understandable translation "C'mon, let's go to the moss-covered
Capital halls for an office chair race" The 'Reichstags'building is the parliament building in germanys capital city Berlin. Here is also shown that there is no use for this historic building anymore also no concept of respect for the history which was made there (Useless side knowledge which has nothing to do with the song: the Reichstagsbuilding was redesigned from 1995 to 1999, it has since then a glass couple everybody can enter the couple and look down to the parliament, it should symbolize the people are above the politicians and that its made out of glass should symbolize the work of the politicians should always be transparent to the people. )
Ott and Talva: Ott comes from the turkish language and means Grass or Herbs. So yes its used as a other word for weed. Talva is the a version of Backgammon which is played in Turkey and Greece. (Background: the turkish community is really big in germany so it influenced in some subcultures the language)
I hope I catched everything what was unclear. (Also I hope my english was kind of understandable)

Yeah, they're talking about this shitty version of the world ending, hence "Hooray, this world is ending". Basically critisizing corporations & capitalism. This pretty much lines up with Henning's world view. He's political, but not overtly loud about it.

  • @NaniqueArt
    @NaniqueArt 8 месяцев назад +17

You are absolutely right, it's not moving but makes you think about todays standards that are sometimes a bit controlling. Money, big corporations, banks, religion - even po*n. Hennings part "Auf den Trümmern das Paradies!" meaning starting new, building a paradise if you tear down these structures. Great reaction.
I would like to see you react to KUMMER - Der Rest meines Lebens (Live aus der Wuhlheide) - feat. Henning May -- maybe it's a bit more relatable. At least for me being over 30 it is and I really like Felix Kummer since I first heard him sing with his band Kraftklub (which has a lot of great punkrock songs, too!).

I am always touched by the child's line. This is how the world could be, even if there is money. Simply without the desire to take anything away from each other or to have more than others. Wealth is always based on the poverty of others. Sometimes they are in other countries. I'm curious to see whether the Supply Chain Act improves this, even though the law has been massively weakened.

The paper plane he threw was a €100 Euro note, so like $109. Not that different. Without looking up the current exchange rate I would've guessed more like $120 or $130, so I guess the dollar is strong at the moment.

Henning always mentions this track as an example of how he occasionally sang with a Cologne accent in his early singing years. When he sings "welt" for the second time, the "l" sounds very soft and rolling, more like "whelld", as a Cologne native would say, and not like the crisp and hard "velt" in standard High German.

I feel the translation doesn't do it justice. While it is technically correct it is also lacking the imagery and extravagance. e.g.: while fighting for housing is a correct translation "Häuserkampf" is a military word for urban warfare and also refers to famous squatting protests. The phrasing on some of the sentences is shortened in English which causes it to lose it's significance.
Paradise on the ruins is again a correct translation but it is phrased as "on the ruins the paradise" eventhough pradise on the ruins would be a working phrase in german as well. The symbolism of this phoenix from the ashes transformation is lost IMO.
And Ott is another word for pott, it's turkish I believe

As word order in german is changeable, I don't know, if this makes a different for you. But I would say 'On the ruins of the paradise'. You also could say 'Hooray, the world goes down', down or under is unter in german. But it hits the meaning 😉 As you said, it's a song about, how the world gets better after everything goes down😊

Just trying to help a bit here / Versuch nur ein wenig zu helfen:
Probably you mean "On the ruins, the paradise". Little misspelling there. / Du meinst wahrscheinlich "On the ruins, the paradise.". Kleiner Schreibfehler ("of").
I wouldn't translate it with "going down". / Ich würde es nicht mit "going down" übersetzen.
Maybe because of the popular phrase "Black Hawk down" it seems to be similar but "going down" is more associated with "sinking" or "falling down". / Vielleicht ein Misverständnis wegen der bekannten Assoziation zu "Black Hawk down", aber "going down" bedeutet eher etwas in die Richtung, dass etwas sinkt oder herunter fällt.
"Coming to an end" / "ending" hit the tone better because it can mean destruction or failure. / "Coming to an end" / "ending" trifft den Ton besser, da es auch Zerstörung und Scheitern bedeuten kann.
My personal preference would be "The world perishes." / Ich persönlich würde es wahrscheinlich mit "The world perishes" übersetzen. (Die Welt geht unter / zugrunde, Die Welt stirbt / verendet, ...)

Yeah the song has a post apocalyptic theme, the video reminds me of the post apocalyptic movie "Waterworld". The lyrics are mostly positive, because after the bombs dropped the world became a better place, those that survived have no need for money to survive, so they also do not need to work that much, they have more time for their kids, no need for drugs, at least not to flee from the everyday troubles, no Corporations like Nestle turning fruits and other food into tasteless stuff full of bad stuff like pesticides, so the apples taste like they should. Yeah and calling a Shelter a "Vault" give me Fallout game vibes.

For me this song is a geopolitical or socially critical song. The point is that currently, before the bomb, everything was seen and done only superficially and commercially. After the bomb, it's "just" about living your life without the social constraints and obligations like earning money to afford an apartment/house that you don't live in because you're always at work to do that to earn money for it. So you do something to have something, only to then not really have it. I hope you can understand what I mean.
I think this song is really successful and has depth.

    Fun fact to this song:
K.I.Z. was really irritated by Henning's part while recording because when he sang it for the first time, his dialect came through thick. He is from Cologne where the local dialect is "Kölsch" and you can still hear it in the way he pronounces "Welt" - he tried to "fix" it and sing it in "normal" german, but he couldn't and K.I.Z. just accepted it xd

The line with the "the elders talk about the struggles for houses" is I think not perfectly translated. The german word "Häuserkampf" is more like a violent fight fought in or about a house. So it is not just struggle but an actual fight.
