I had a blackbird that had moulted bad in August 2020 but he got new feathers by October. I think a heavy breeding season makes moulting worse. The blackbird is still around but he moves around garden to garden. I have never seen a woody moult. Blackbirds keep a low profile during the moult season.

Wood pigeons can be horrible bullies to normal pigeons.
