  • A few a Clearwater County's commissioners are on a mission to bring a fair to the county. One of those commissioners is Chue Vang - the developer of Johnson's Creek - who has even offered land for the grounds to the county. And though the largest cities in the region are skeptical of the idea, the rural communities band together to bring the plan to life.
In today's episode, we'll build this new fair grounds by combining most of the parks in the Parklife DLC with assets from the Concerts Mini-DLC. We'll also add in custom assets to nail the feel of the fairground, and combine assets to create our own completely custom pavilions. We'll also add amenities that will make the massive park useful year-round. And by the end, we'll have a fair grounds that is completely custom, completely unique, and a gem of the county.
    Enjoy!

Speaking for myself, I'd be totally cool if you focused more videos on your CS1 regions while some of the bugs in CS2 are worked out! Like, has Chuckle's theme park been abandoned? It would be really interesting to see how the community would respond to such a loss in their economy! 😱

I feel like the concert stage and the bleachers would switch places realistically. Having the lake and not a smelly highway behind the concert would be real cool just for the experience itself of course, a nice view, but I bet bands would find it to be a cool location to have their live performances filmed.
Alternatively both could have a sideways orientation to the water. If I remember correctly there is a popular amusement park in Stockholm, Sweden that has a concert venue on the waterfront? Someone from Sweden could probably correct the specific location, I just remember shows from there being shown on Swedish television when I was in the country.

Ahh shoot - I totally see that now! I think I had a bit of tunnel vision there but you're right. Come to think of it, in Grant Park in Chicago where I've seen a few concerts, I think they are mostly to the side>. My guess is that it might be the right approach here as well to preserve vehicular access to the rear of the stage. I didn't mention this - but that was something I was thinking about with the placement.

You are probably thinking of Gröna Lund, an amusement park founded in the late 19th century. It is the oldest amusement park in Sweden, and is indeed also a concert venue.
It's a much smaller site than the one here in Magnolia County, and is basically built along the lake shore of one of the larger islands of Stockholm.
I haven't visited it much, since I dislike crowds, but it is a beautiful site with a great view across the water.
I would link the Wikipedia article, but RUclips tends to delete comments with links.

Wow! That was a real eye opener. I’d forgotten how incredible the mods made CS1. Spawning Points, Anarchy to smash buildings into one another, the variety of vegetation and assets, BoBing away the tiles, the lighting, etc, etc.
The park you created is a piece of art. So brilliant and unique.
CS1 has its faults but it is so flexible. I would love to watch an ongoing series in CS1 in parallel with some CS2. The latter would be to highlight new developments as the existing game is quite limited now.

In the park maintenance building I could see that being the Exhibit Hall that every county fair i have been to seems to have: competitions for the best pickles, blue ribbon home preserves, flower arranging. All of which sound quite sedate, but behind the scenes has its own small-town drama.

Phil, those red barns instantly takes me to the rural country areas here in Sweden, you'll see those *everywhere.* Some of these farms are open to the public and make extra money as tourist attractions, like the ostrige farm in the neighboring county.

How it feels to be back in CWC... like the comfort of an old familiar chair. I also wanted to add that I think a good inspiration for this and kind of what the build reminded me of was the NYS Fairgrounds and Lakeview Amphitheater area in Syracuse NY. They sit on the side of Onondaga Lake, but the parking borders the lake and they have a pedestrian bridge over the highway and shuttles that run from parking to the gates of the fairgrounds.

Missed Classic Cities Skylines so much! What a great return, and the build felt very evocative of my county and state fairgrounds.
The only changes I’d think would be suitable are swapping the big parking lot with the park maintenance building (all the traffic could bother the prize-winning animals, plus parking would then be closer to the main gate), and reversing the orientation of the concert so the lake is the backdrop instead of the highway.

Spent the last few days myself back in CS1 and I forgot how immersive the game is when you are just trying to build that perfect High School or Shopping Center. I enjoyed this. The open grass area would be cool to see some Vendors, police, and more tents to give off other seasonal and fair displays. But other than that, i really enjoyed the county fair. Also cities need more traveling ride and a wooden Coaster. That would be the one thing that they would make permitted fixtures in the fair. Also around the maintenance buildings, put in campers, semi truck and trailer to give the temporary ride, structures, and fair staff a place to stay during the fair. Also need a restroom at camp grounds.
If the Ride area feels temporary, you could bring in more events, Farm equipment show in that area, boat and RV show, classic car show, lumberjack games, tractor pulls, landscape expos and maybe a Rodeo.

It’s good to be back in Clearwater County. Still so much to do and places to see! I think the concert venue would look great if it was incorporated with the lake. It would make for a beautifully unique experience.

Great to see this series making a return! Going back to CS1 after playing CS2 myself feels so surreal, because at this point it is a much better experience. The only things I’m really missing from CS2 are the road tools tbh. I’m really excited for CS2 to live up to its potential, but If I’m honest I think it will be another 5 years for the game to be significantly better than the first one

I missed CWC! I'm glad you brought it back. What drew me to this series and your channel was when you constructed a Walmart in Ashland. As an Arkansans, that spoke to me for some reason🤔. Anyway, since then I've been a fan of your content since, especially of CWC. I'm glad you're back there so maybe we can find out what you're going to do with the fort, lol. I love your CS1 and CS2 content. Just remember that since you're going back to CS1, put your pipes underneath the road, right where they belong! Thank you!

I think a more realistic venue feature would be to replace those bushes with some chairs and separating those small squared areas with some fences to make VIP zones, with maybe a small bar if it'd fit. Also, more bars around the general crowd area cause those people need beer ! Love the videos

I have missed Clearwater County! It does feel weird, but OMG, the fact you can build something like a county fairgrounds so detailed and with so many assets shows how limited CS2 is really! Sure, the distruct tool is a little clunky but wow! How amazing and i lived near a faurgrounds like that as well, though the fair was only once a year for two weeks. I used to work at a petting barn thete where kids could pet animals and i would skeep in the hay loft of the barn to watch over tge animals. The fair I went to always had the swinging boat but thr log ride and thr roller coaster is too much. Ferris wheel is a must 😊 great work sir! Fantastic, fun build!!

@CityPlannerPlays I spent 4 years at the UWMC somehow. I live the exhibition building you put together. It's my favorite building in the park. I was hoping the whole time you'd make it.
Now if only there was a model train 😂

Having also been one of those kids whose family camped at the fair, I loved this build. I feel like the only thing you might have missed was police/fire coverage - we usually had a little temporary police building at our fair.

The rides at a fair really depend on the county. I grew up on NE Ohio and the county fair in Canfield is MASSIVE, 350 acres, average daily attendance of 60,000. It does have a rollercoaster and a swinging boat ride, along with numerous other pendulum rides, a few Ferris wheels, a couple of fun houses, and a few dozen other rides.

Omg!!! CWC is BACK!! Been waiting so long 😂 on a side note I think you should have added the equestrian center to the fairgrounds … they have horses at every fair here and speaking of zoo… I think it’s time the county found some land for that project! Great video as always!

Happy to see we're back in Clearwater County!!! This was a very interesting build and would be a great place to have nearby in real life.
I do have to take issue with all the gravel - it's the enemy of "accessible" for folks who rely on wheels to get themselves or their children around. I'd especially not like to sit/stand on it for an hour or more during a concert!
(I suspect it could also be a "danger" should there be unhappy concert goers...)
Edit: You put in a fire tower, but a police presence is probably needed too!

I think you shouldn't be afraid to add more rides. I grew up in a small town that has a festival once a year, and they had the swinging boat, a roller coaster, a gravitron. Lots of great rides! It isn't unusual.

Most every larger county fair (which this definitely feels like) I've been to has had a swinging ship. Most also have demolition derby/mud bog/ tractor pull area. Just some thoughts from someone who lives in the area you're building in 😉. Great stuff as always Phil

    • @patrikhjorth3291
      @patrikhjorth3291 3 месяца назад

That's interesting. I've been to a few demolition derbys, a cousin of mine used to drive in them, though I believe they work a bit differently in my country than in the US.
It's not the sort of thing I've come to associate with a country fair or amusement park. The ones I'm familiar with focus more on vendor stalls, rides and concerts featuring local talent, and not anything related to vehicles.
Not criticizing, it's just interesting to note the differences.
