An interesting observation that many people miss ... during the second line of the lyrics which are "Inviting and inciting me to rise" ... Richard actually sings "Inciting and inviting" and David sings it "Inviting and inciting" you then see David turn and look at Richard with a slight smile.
Fantastic. That is golden. 😀😀 hahaa
I just love the live between the two of you! It shows in the way you lokk at each other the gentle touch the small gestures it's just beautiful!
@@bettyb1313 thank you so much for saying that. It’s completely authentic and it’s something that is even stronger today, years after we’ve done these videos. It seems just like yesterday that we were sitting side-by-side in front of a camera and sharing the love of the music and each other with so many. It’s great to hear your comment today and it just lifts us up even more knowing that those moments continue.
Much love and appreciation for you
KnR ❤️🙏🏽👊🔥🌹🌹🌹
Totally agree, The Gdansk version is Richard & David at their best! My wife and I saw them that year in Oakland! It was amazing!
I remember, i was a kid (maybe 9 years old at that time) I watched TV (only 3 channels at the beginning of the 70s) and there it was: Pink Floyd live at Pompeji. At the first moment i was disgusted, but went on listening and watching this....my heart started pumping faster, i was curious about what will happen next in the concert and begann to love this music. It was my first experience of modern Rock-music at all and since then i love it. After all this years (yes: 45 years since the first experience) i still enjoy this shit.
For me it was The Wall first. I was lent it. A few minutes in I was disgusted, horrified, and yet totally captivated. I stuck with it to the end. I'm so glad young me did that.
Really great needs to be at least a little bit edgy and uncomfortable, I think.
The first event at that ancient amphitheater since 79 AD when Vesuvius destroyed Pompeii.
I was waiting for you guys to do Echoes! My #1 Pink Floyd song (enough so that it became my license plate) I remember first seeing this video back in '98 - my girlfriend (now wife) got me the Live In Pompeii video (on VHS), we smoked a bowl, had some pizza and just went interstellar! This version of Echoes just blew my mind, the fullness of sound, the groove, the vocals. Don't get me wrong, the album version is sublime, but they took it a few notches further with this! Great reaction vid - thanks! Indeed, PLEASE do the Gdansk version - besides this 'live' treatment (which has some studio noodling to clean up the sound), the Gdansk version has the best sound I've ever heard (love to play the DVD on my surround & just blast it!), plus it also stands as a tribute to one Mr. Richard Wright, who passed not long after the video/album's release. RIP Rick!
I always loved the setting, as if they're playing to an amphitheater full of ghosts.
They were
@@rogerk55 true dat.
Actually the concept was originally a concert for the Greek gods instead of mortals
Roger Waters claims that Andrew Lloyd Webber stole the main rift of this song and used it for his song "Phantom of the Opera". He decided that in the end it was not worth the time and money to sue over it.
It is shamelessly obvious that the motif was lifted verbatim by Weber. He didn't even attempt to rework the motif into something new and unique. What a charlatan.
Max Weber, @@openmusic3904?
And the piano lid goes down and breaks his fucking fingers....It's a miracle......
And Waters gets a jab in on Weber in one of his solo albums... can't remember which one tho...
It's great to see the love you have for the music and for each other. Thank you and keep it up.
After Rick ( keyboard) died Dave said he would never play this again. he always thought Rick and him were talking back and forth
Come on dude, don't you see nick Mason break his drum stick and he took another stick without missing a beat. Thats perfection on another level.
Absolutely. Love that they did not edit that out!!!
Dave explains the "seagull" effect.
"We discovered it as the result of a serendipitous accident that happened in about 1969 or 1970, when a roadie had plugged the wah in the wrong way, and I stomped into it and got this incredible screaming noise."
You two are great!! Thank you for the reactions to some amazing music!!
Speaking of if you love Pink Floyd, if you get a chance to see Brit Floyd, just WOW. GO! Saw them here in Knoxville and it was a jaw dropping show. And they are spot on in every way.
You really must try David Gilmour's Gdansk live version, it's sublime.
I second that... It's recorded so much better than the Pompeii version
Albert Hall is better
@@rupbhatt Pompeii = 4 Musicians. Gdansk,AlbertHall = 6 musicians + light show.
I prefer to Royal albert hall's version
Could not agree with you more. A HD masterpiece. Unfortunately one of the last times David Gilmour and Richard Wright played together. R.I.P. Rick.
Fun fact; David Gilmour sings the high parts on the first verses and Rick Wright does on the final ones
Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!! Keep this beautiful music alive! For most people it takes patience. So good. Dave Gilmour launches this part in to another realm...with the help of Nick in particular. Sooooooo timeless. Keep it up you crazy kids!
You need to do "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" from the same film. It's criminal how this is overlooked. #painintheask
Great reaction. I saw some of part 1 but not many do part 2, which I feel is better... those transitions are so powerful. Love to see the love of the music and for each other.
huge floyd fan and soft hearted lover and a scorpio. have to say you two make a great couple. ❤️
THAT was the best reaction I've ever seen!!
I love your chemistry. My GF fucking hates the "long" PF songs. Tho, I'm determined to win her over because I used to feel the same before I really delved deep into their discography after first hearing this very song. I think everyone's a PF fan and just needs that one song to draw them in.
#painintheask avid PF fan since early 70's. Only got to see them once in Raleigh, NC May '94 pulse tour. The early days were skipping school, a little smoke, headphones, and a girl if I was lucky...but not often. Still good listening music without the smoke. Some of the best love making music ever in my opinion. I still get goose bumps when listening sometimes and I love watching people's reaction that never heard their music. Following a few reaction couples and individuals doing this. Shine on!
From what I understand, Gilmour won't perform Echoes again since Wright's passing as he considered it to be a conversation between his guitar and Wright's synth, what a legend, such a pity, and I agree, the Gdansk version is also outstanding
You are correct, sir
It was mainly written by Wright according to David with a about 15% of input from the others. Royal Albert Hall is a much better version than Gdansk
I consider it to be a conversation between Nick and Roger.
I think you two need to get a room lol
Yeah, another ten minutes I think we'd have gone to x-rated
I was gonna say that... ahaha
Thing is, they already HAVE the room... and we're watching it. :D
Y'all should be so lucky to have a woman look at you that way and sit and fall into great music with you. It's a beautiful thing.
Put it on Hamster Please !!!! Lol : D
I had the same thought as the ending of the song was setting their mood beyond reactions hahaha....I had to get up and walk around whew hahaha...
It would have been a privilege to have been at Pompeii and witnessed that performance.
Watching the bits of them in the studio working on DSotM and knowing what would come from it is like seeing musical history being made.
Thanks for sharing......what band plays live without an audience in an ancient amphitheater? Only a great band like Pink Floyd. Great pull Rich and Kel is definitely impressed. So is your audience who has followed this band from the beginnings including Meddle album. Fantastic stuff!!
pink floyd live at pompeii-saucerful of secrets
Echoes masterful work of Pink Floyd.
Those were the days and times. :-)
Part two is an echo of part one. See what I did there?
when I saw the whole concert in a theater right after the show in Pompeii they made a pint of showing that the venue was empty except for the band and their personal...the were playing for all the dead of Pompeii. They were asked by the offstage interviewer about being to dependent on drugs and technology...David replied "No, I don't think so." The equipment that can be seen on the stage, and the film equipment would have been considered extreme at the time...but if you look at "Comfortably Numb" from the "Pulse Show, one could ask ,the same question and probably get the same answer.
Apparently they had video issues at some points in the Pompeii version, so they filmed the band later in a studio and superimposed it over the audio. Cheesy, but this was 1972.
you so cute so cool kel an rich you drove me back to special gorgeous memory thank you both honey 💕💕😊😃
My friend used to do their ( the Machine) sound, HE now does the sound for YES, and is YES sound man and is the program director.
Spiritual journey begins brothers journey begins
Plz don't forget to react to Great Gig in the Sky, Comfortably Numb, Young Lust, Time, and One of These Days... Rock On you two. Kel - you're gorgeous. Lucky Rich. ;)
That was sweet at [3:00] when Kel looks like she's trying to peek over the amps to see the band
You guys don't have to wait for the song to finish you know...you can leave now...the Bedrooms behind you
Somethings are just too good. It’s always a tough call. Have a super day and thanks for the chuckle. Rich
You should lay back, close your eyes, relax and give yourself 100% over to the ambient part and only open your eyes (and cuddle again) once they start singing again. Intensifies the experience more than dubbble ;) Also find the whole 2 parts in one song the transission is very smooth
#painintheask Love your reactions. Please react to Alice In Chains- Love Hate Love, live at the Moore 1991. You'll love it, I promise!
Pink Floyd Sing me lullabies Pink Floyd makes me close my eyes 🤟🏼
Trinity is also Canadian...
Well, the actress is...
Small furry animals gathered together grooving with a Pict is my favorite...
Rich W is amazing as well. Oh yeah....Roger keeps a good beat on the bass as well😘
Rich was the heart and soul of PF's amazing sound... without him PF would have been just another band.
This of course was before M TV or music videos in general. As I remember though, there is a video, a film realy, probably 70mm, that was taken from an airplane flying across planted fields at a 45° angle. There was no part of the airplane visable so it seemed that you were on your own flying. And then to make sure you experienced some altered state, they would slowly change the tint of the militarily standing rows of planted crops. Quite nice.
#painintheask Have you tried any Disturbed other than Sound of Silence? How about The Vengeful One - official video? Lyrics have a great message and it's heavy, unlike sound of Silence. I know the video won't be for Kel to watch but it's pretty cool.
My first time listening to pink floyd. was, uma guma driving around with a friend smoking some electric lettuce .
Pink still live on in the form of Brit Floyd. They are excellent. I believe Dave Gilmour had them play at his wedding... or some other function. Try their concert at Red Rocks and close your eyes. A.Maze.ing.
HELLO!WHAT ABOUT WHERE IT WAS ,HOW IT WAS FILMED BACK IN 1972! It was a MASTERPIECE!
PINK FLOYD..........LIVE FROM THE.... DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER.... TOUR 1988.....SORROW AND DOGS OF WAR... THERE BACK TO BACK ON THE DOUBLE LIVE ALBUM MIND BLOWING PERFORMANCE !!!!
A trip into our DNA which is space itself... Probably a different dimension... 🙏🙏🙏♒🕉️🔯✝️☪️☮️☯️
Echoes part 3 banging headboards and bed spings 🤣🤣
Hi Guys!!! Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil...
I love both of you.
If possible, react to ATOM HEART MOTHER. or my broken english
I'd love to see kel reacting. And Richard as well.
Sorry for my broken english.
Só os fracos se desculpam
@5:58 I always wondered why David gave that stare? I kind thought while listening a few times over and over maybe Rodger had his bass volume up too high for a few seconds lol....
If you haven't seen the last segment of 2001 a Space Odyssey with Echoes its definately something to check out. Stanley Kubrick asked them if he could use the Atom Heart Mother Suite to use as the background music for Jupiter and Beyond the Infinate segment of 2001 but Pink Floyd (Roger Waters) turned him down. When they went to see 2001 they thought dam we should've done it. A few years later Echoes is made which is ironically the same length that the last segment of 2001 (Jupiter and Beyond the Infinate) and provides some really interesting sounds to accompany Kubricks film. Anyhow put it on the big screen, turn off all the lights and check it out for yourself ruclips.net/video/OSOnYrF_Qgo/видео.html
That's interesting because I thought about the movie 2001 while watching this reaction and thought "man, wouldn't that have been cool if they used Pink Floyd's music in that movie instead".
Check out David gilmours version live from the royal albert hall
1. You guys are adorable. You should have a bunch of babies so we have a lot more adorable people who love PF in the years to come. 2. I'm surprised Rich didn't tell Kel how David came up with the dolphin/whale sounds on his guitar. It's a great story and shows the genius of Mr. Gilmour. 3. I'm gonna have to watch more of your reactions, keep up the great work!
I feel like i should look away while you two are at it.
I agree on that
It's got to be ghadansk it's deffinettly the best version no question you will both be in seventh heaven basically David gilmore and Richard Wright doing echoes together live for the last time its hypnotic and wonderfully moving its a show of respect and deep affection for each other fabulous enjoy kel and rich
Agreed.
Rich
It was recorded before the compression wars. Very fancy, side chain, cut and boost frequency’s,all in the aim of making the recent lps made louder than last years. But you can tweak compression, but the action of a comp, boosting low signals and clipping high ones, started to take the balance and dynamics out of music Pink floyd resisted it,and always kept the dynamics
Good ending reaction that really sets to mood I suppose.....
Also, I must see Kel's reaction to Comfortably Numb Live since it arguably has the best guitar solo of all time in it: ruclips.net/video/vi7cuAjArRs/видео.html
Brit Floyd is the best Pink Floyd tribute Band in the world
You guys should watch the entire feature in it's entirety together.
i am already high without smoking something.
Seagull sounds courtesy of Mr. Gilmour and his Strat. 😲
And the Cry Baby wah pedal. Let's not forget the roadie who plugged in the pedal backwards by mistake.
Would love to see you guys do a deep dive on Pink Floyd. Rush, Zeppelin, Stevie Ray, etc etc, are all awesome, but there's Floyd and ... well, everybody else. May I suggest Comfortably Numb on the live Pulse CD (way better than studio version) as the next Floyd reaction. Best Guitar Solo Ever....
I think they would suit a full sitting of dark side, wish and the wall. Obvious afficionados and would do it justice. I'd watch
💚
Good choice!!!
You two are so cute together!
Set back kal and enjoy
Nick Mason loves those crash symbols
awww.
I know this is old, and you may not read my comment, but Kel, you should really just watch the whole film. It's set up for Echoes to bookend. Just doing part one, then two, you miss out on the artistic structure.
We will. I’m saving it for her.
They cut off the ascension at the end!
What a romantic finish!!!
that's good baby making music
i hope to listen to Narrow way p.3 ummagumma album
One hundred thousand years later.... K+R still in love and listening to Floyd...
#triumph. Blinding Light Show/MoonChild. ruclips.net/video/Pnvu7URpBBY/видео.html. time to react to a Canadian Classical Rock Tune. Kel should enjoy the symphonic classical Rock sounds of another three piece band from Toronto. who came up at around the same time as RUSH. Rik Emmett on Lead Vocals and Guitar/Spanish guitar, Mike Levine on Bass. and Gil Moore Drums. From the 1979 Rock n Roll Machine Album Enjoy. its a permanent playlist add for me, always has been.
You two are gonnae need a room😂😂😂👍👍
An ad break in the middle of the outro? Seriously???!!
I don't mind you talking or snogging over the track, but to be interrupted just when the closing melodic pings are starting to rise with "TOP! GAME!! CAN! YOU! LEAD! A GROUP! OF MIGHTY!! WARRIORS!!! TO..."
Eeeuuck.
Fair spoilt my whole evening.
awwwwwww...........
Kel-roy was here
Nice Floydian couple 💓
those are not whales, they're space elephants!
#Painitheask Riverside Escalator Shrine+Coda
Imagine being under water and the sounds of whales singing
Couldn't take my eyes off her chest 😁
Jajjaj genios 👍
s2 one love
Comfortably numb
yall two need to go to your room !!!!! lol
Ahead of time. Floyd
Whatever happened to being modest about PDA?
Overrated!
@@Kel.N.RichReactions it's just decency.
@@frankfjm88 like most things, it’s subjective. Look up “Johari’s Window”. There are no universal laws around what ‘things’ are or are not. To us, showing affection to one another is a good thing for the world. You may have noticed that hostility and conflict outweighs respect and love in the media. Most of our fans appreciate that they can tune in and be offered displays of genuine love and care.
React to the nine of bethoven there begging the music
Why not the original version on Meddle ? Perfection - better than this one.
A lot of people would beg to differ
Ok.....too much. Your PDA creepiness is almost cancelling out the brilliance of the performance. Seriously, save it for the swingers club........✌️bye Felicia
I must say I could do without the displays of affection.
