I really appreciate how you have captured the 'game' part of role playing game. Most RPGs out there seem to focus on story or simulation and tactics. I like the style in which you are trying to capture the experience and the simplicity of setting and resolving challenges. This is why I make time for table top RPGs.

One of my hobbies is playing role playing games. Another one of my hobbies is collecting role playing games and evaluating their mechanics and settings from a design perspective, and I have to say with over 110 games in my library, that this looks Awesome. Lots of games have made a D&D like experience more fun, but few have done it from a GAMIST perspective. I am mostly a story/narrative based guy, and normally I hate, Loot, Hit Points, Miniatures, rolling dice too much ect. That being said I have had lots of fun with board and card games and can appreciate a gamists game, I can even appreciate Pathfinder,,,ALLOT when put together by the right group. But Most gamist driven games make me hate life. ICRPG looks like it will change all of that. It is one of the first Gamist's games that looks like it A. has everyone on the same page about the play experience (So no special taloring of the GM and group/ group perspective) B. Makes the vagaries of loot, advancement, inter player balance, and player challenge balance easily and easily improvised. C. Creates valid play outside of killing things (as you put it chopping down trees) that is gamist involved and rewarding. D. makes a gamist game that is quick easy rewarding and something you can put together rather easily. Fucking Brilliant. I am checking this out in the most awesome way. PDF already bought, card bundles and hard copies on payday, and future products put on the reminder list. Good SHOW sir!

Thanks Hank!! Been trying to get back into D&D and fantasy rpg for awhile and decided to give your method a go and I will never go back to traditional..this is the future! love it. Being a creative person myself I totally dig the diy feel in it too. lots of potential in that realm. Thanks for making rpg fun again and simple enough that it doesn't scare the others off I am trying to get into role playing.

I really dig what you've done here. Moved to the top of my list.
ended up grabbing it. Hillman's belt seems insanely OP for a starting item. Liking it otherwise! Made a huge mistake and didn't grab the soft cover with my pdf :(
A few sessions in I think you see that OP item is nerfed by the dice gods. I greatly reduced all hard copy prices to absorb early pdf buyer's investments! That means 1E icrpg has a built in 'rebate' when you buy :D
If I wanted to stream/upload a game using your system to my channel would that be cool?
Based on what you've shown its very mechanical to a point where you can home brew and pick and choose what you want. The pictures are enough to break away from walls of text which is something you've talked about in your book reviews and it just seems easy to absorb and dissect to what you like. I love the heart concept its very Zelda and seems so easy to track. I'm curious on the fantasy races and how different are they from classic D&D.
Just bought and downloaded. LOVE IT! I wish we would have started our current campaign under this ruleset, but I will be implementing a lot of these concepts. One issue is the character sheet keeps failing to download :(. Other than that, perfect.

Just Bought, Artwork looks amazing, Book very clean & clear. Hoping to run with a group who's only experience is Mantic's Dungeon Saga.
One thing that struck me was value of hearts being 10, was there a specific reason for using 10? The only reason I ask is that a 12 is divisible by more numbers without remainder (1,2,3,4 & 6 rather than 1,2 & 5) might be less brain think, fraction wise. Also this then ties in with a clock face (effort count down to task completion). Maybe one heart is 6 and then heroes start with 2 hearts? I often wonder why classically we adopt decimal for lots of things when hexadecimal seems just more functional (maybe its all the fingers?). Sorry for the ramble. After I've got some games under my belt might give it a try.

I bought your game and am really excited to try it out! I'm a publisher on Wargame Vault, a sister site to drivethrurpg and love that you use it exclusively! You are so right about the community. One idea popped into my head as soon as I saw the effort dice. Do you think it would overcomplicate the process to have different classes use different dice for various things. For example, if a fighter would maybe use D8 for combat and D6 for magic, while a mage would use the original dice setup. Maybe a thief type could get a D8 for Thieving type skills. I know the loot is designed to do this as you decide what direction you want your character to go in and it could be that the loot you take and milestones you pick already give the characters their different roles in a party. Whats your thoughts?
Yeah, I mean the simple way to do it would be imbue desired dice with the already-described effect...so thieves always make magical attacks..thus do d8 weapon damage. You know your table best, so if all those upgrades and class-customizations are fluid and fun, and fit your players' style i say go for it

Looking for some assistance. I picked this up from drive through RPG the day it was released! Awesome art work, great concept. I'm super excited about this. After I downloaded this, I was able to access all the monster, pcs, traps, etc, but I'm having a hard time finding the introduction, class descriptions, game mechanics. What am I doing wrong? Please help

i dont know if i'll ever use it but i think i'll just buy it for the artwork and ideas.
I would assume that the 'scrolls' work similar to a D&D mages spellbook. You would need to keep it to maintain the knowledge. If they become 'tied' to the character -- then I would say that once the spell is memorized that the paper becomes useless and can be discarded.

@Runehammer any merit to hidden targets or hidden rolls. Such as the death timer ? As in players dont know how long before their friend dies.

no section on traps, except those listed in "CURSED LOOT".. as for specific locations, they are bundled into the adventures.

I'm asking because I'm really in a hurry to rip into the PDF of the whole thing, but I intend to buy a physical copy down the line. I think it's common practice to have previous buyers to pay printing cost + shipping when they order a physical copy later. I've done it with a couple of products on DriveThru.
Is the book with the 100 extra monsters released yet? Oh and btw ... do the 2e of the core book includes the stuff of the ICRPG Worlds?

sure.. ICRPG is super hackable/ takes stat blocks from dnd/pf easily

I think that spell users should have a spell book to put all spells in, so they don't have to carry so many scrolls.
YEp, that would mean just extending the WIS POWER carry rule to INT casters. A fine tweak!

Hey there! Your game looks great. Are you considering selling it through Amazon, using Createspace? RPGNow/DTRPG charges and absurd amount in shipping charges to my country -- 40 dollars for the printed book! Amazon is way better at this, even though they only do softcover POD.
