- The Godfather is a crime novel written by Mario Puzo, originally published in 1969 by G. P. Putnam's Sons. It details the story of a fictitious Sicilian Mafia family based in New York City and headed by Don Vito Corleone, who became synonymous with the Italian Mafia.
The novel covers the years 1945 to 1955, and also provides the back story of Vito Corleone from early childhood to adulthood. The book introduced Italian criminal terms like consigliere, caporegime, Cosa Nostra, and omertà to an English-speaking audience.
It formed the basis for a 1972 film of the same name. Two film sequels, including new contributions by Puzo himself, were made in 1974 and 1990. The first and second films are widely considered to be two of the greatest films of all time.[1][2]
The cover was created by S. Neil Fujita whose design featured a large Gothic-style letter "G" with a long curl at the top emphasizing the first three letters of the title, accompanied by the hands of a puppeteer holding a set of strings over the "father" portion of the word.[3]

I love you 🙏
Listening to this for the second time. First time was last year. Enjoying it again. With some audio books the narrator has the wrong voice, but not for this. Great choice.
GF is an absolute masterpiece, however, I would’ve loved to have all of this on film, to hell with it being 9hrs
I’m admittedly an audiobook nut, but this is some of the best narration I’ve ever heard, what an absolutely epic story, thank you for uploading 🫡
Thank you for the wonderful narration
Thank you. It has been a wonderful post.
The history of how the mafia came into being in Sicily is so good , most enjoyable story telling ,thank you.
This book is fiction, dude. Much of what Puzo wrote he made up.
@@Serai3 Is it? Is It really ?
@@timfremstad3434 Yes, it is. Some of it was BASED on real people. But it's fiction. Please get a dictionary, because it seems you really need one.

Joe Bonanno’s book “ A Man of Honor” tells the true story of the formation of the mafia in Sicily as well as America.
The Sicilian,by Mario Puzzo is a stunning book also. The voices are spot on also...
Excellent job
Very interesting. Lots of different things from the movie. I enjoyed listening to this whilst travelling
What a story!
thank you ✌️😊
Shame they didn't do Al Neri justice in the films.
Want some high quality entertainment: not to mention a fascinating story read expertly...try this-- you won't be able to stop listening!
its like my 3rd time. Its an awesome book!

That was an awesome narration. Thank you.
I am loving this book, well speak and said but I am almost at the end of part two .
God this book is a masterpiece
absolutely amazing every word was genius thanks so much
Love this book. My only complaint with Mario is too much Johnny Fontaine
I agree. I've always felt that he should have been more in the background.
WAAAAAAY TOO MUCH.
What about Lucy’s ginormous Italian clam??
Yeh I felt like he wanted to make some sort of commentary about the hollowness of fame etc, but he really seemed to over-egg it, his character didn’t actually go anywhere really, it felt like his whole story was background, but it didn’t amount to anything.
@@benjamin_hartman 😂😂😂😂 That was the sub-plot I would have NEVER expected from watching the films 😅
Thank u
The best, simply the Best book which detail the genesis of the Mafia overseas.
Gomorrah by Roberto Saviano is a similar read.
The book was great and surprised how much of original dialogue was in the film. But then Godfather 2 has the complete story of Fredo
Luca was cold. I didnt know how cold
He had his newborn thrown into a furnace.
@@sunnylife7934If he were MAGA he would have thrown his puppy in also…to show his strength.
Kay… Wasn’t even in the same ballpark as a Apollonia… imagine the movie if she would have lived
Appolonia was a far better wife than Kay was.
Kay, lame character, knows all along Michael is a gangster. Almost as annoying as Carmella Soprano...
@@nanab0z0I only learned a few days ago Edie Falco’s connection to Ed Falco. It makes so much sense now why she was perfect.
The movie was great. The book was better. I'm glad I watched the movie, first, like a normie, because I wouldn't have liked it as much if I had read the book, first.
Still, I've gotta say the movie was one of the better book adaptations.
Wish this had chapters
A rare example of the screenplay being infinitely superior to the novel. It wasn't a bad novel but the things that were cut out made it into a masterpiece. The hatred people would have felt for Lucha, the unneeded characters in Vegas, unimportant details and background of minor characters all these things were much more important than just time cutting.
There's no superiority whatsoever mate, they are two completely different forms of media. They are both masterpieces in their own domains
Lovely ending 😅❤
👍👍👍👋👋👋🙏🙏🙏
I like Michaels character more in the book then the movie, he’s more like dl the the Don in the book

Kay was way more likable here than in the film.

No! By no means.

who is the narrator?
I dont know, sorry.
Peter Graves?????
@@billdeblaey6078I don’t think it’s Peter Graves
@@billdeblaey6078I just googled this audiobook but the AUDILE version is narrated by Joe Montegna. This definitely isn’t him. I going straight to AUDIBLE to listen again, read by Joe
Very good, thanks for the info!!!@@mrsmacca126
Why weren't women aloud to read lines in this audiobook 😢
The 1st extreme violent movie
The story of Luca Brazzi's baby is really about legalizing abortion.
It shows how the Republicans think. They pretend to be outraged if a woman has an abortion, but have no problem tossing her baby into a furnace after he or she is born.
Tessio, Paulie, Fredo all knew better. Especially Tessio.

2 boys?? They had a boy and a girl!!
I always preferred Apollonia to Kay. The former would have been the perfect Sicilian wife. The latter became the typical annoying feminist American wife. 😐
