- This is the 3rd part in my series on building sample slicers in The Grid. In this video, I show a method for adding manual slices, that involves scanning slice information from one one grid patch, and sending it to a 2nd nested Grid patch. I will be showing alternate methods for manual slicing in the following videos as well. The method I focus on in this video can be used in other types of Grid patches as well.
amazing
That's so generous ! I would be curious to see comparisons between your main patch and this one while you're building it. I'm ready for the next part ! Hope we have a sampler + in Bitwig 5.3 with direct slicing mode, direct stretches / warp mode... How did you come up with the 2.4kHz of the LFO, does lower freqs. works well ? ...Like in Max., control rates are like 400Hz... Thanks again.
Thanks a lot. I'll be probably covering a couple other methods for getting manual slicing to work in the next video. Especially, since there was an issue that came up at the end with the timing. I might just switch the main playing slice to be receiving directly from the outer patch, instead of from the scanned values. Sometimes that method can cause problems. But, I find it to generally be a useful technique. It just requires a bit of troubleshooting. Either way, I hope that people will find it useful to see the troubleshooting process that goes with experimenting with different methods. If I put it at 2.4 khz, that might have been on accident. In my patch, I either had it running at 24k or 32k. It doesn't really matter. It just needs to be fast. Anyway, I will probably record the next video this weekend.
I got to about 45 minutes in the video. Everything was working fine I'm just not able to manually change the start and end point of the slices using the course/fine nobs. Do you know what the issue could be, otherwise I'll just have to go back and redo everything from the beginning 😅
And the values on the merge that comes after all the course/fine nobs don't show the right values that I've set on the nobs,I don't know if that gives you an idea as to what my issue is
Is the manual setup properly routed to the sampler. There might be something missing from the connection. Anyway, I plan to resume this series soon. I've been on a crunch to finish an album, so I stopped making videos. I plan to show a few different methods as well. because thy all have their pros and cons. I have had many times where something goes wrong in these setups, or I find a better way, and then rebuild it. Anyway, best of luck with it. I will resume this series this winter.
