Simply the BEST BACK video EVER. No BS. No fancy videos, no presentations, no meds, no subscriptions ... just straight to the point. Just a whiteboard and is so effective. You narrated my life story. I keep getting re-injured every time I try to push harder. Traditional PT definitely helps but it has never been able to help me get back into an active lifestyle. Last few months I was realizing that these stretches are just feel good and I need to do back strengthening exercises while not get re-injured, which I have so many times. Now I know what exercises I need to do.

I've found more value and strength in 3 months of your approach vs 6 years of "conventional" approaches.

I think I'm halfway through healing my chronic pain because I no longer feel any stifness or limitations in movement but still can't deadlift or squat heavy without feeling that shit sensation in the lower back. Since then a lot has improved for me just by your 2-3 40 second tiktok videos and now this yt video pops up for me, which really sets a path to success for me. Admittedly, the progressions in this video are interesting though and it’s possible standard PT training is incorrect. I’ll be trying some of this myself to see if us old people can do loaded flexion.

Thank you so much for this, I have just ordered my roman chair and I feel like there is finally a way to be free from this. In the past years, (I have had back pain since I can remember) I have actually gone through yoga/stretches, walking in nature and walking more in general and eased a lot of the pain I used to have, but its been like I cant really completely be rid of the difficulties! Great video! I'm massage therapist, dealing with posture problems since childhood. Nothing significant to get diagnosis, yet year after year mounting problems with R ankle and R wrist and whole hand. Dealing with backpain, struggling to lose weight (Hashimoto), having subconscious aversion to exercising. After unsatisfactory visits to physiotherapists I've started to experiment with my core stability. Making strong 'shield' for my internal organs with my front layers, hiking front of my pelvis up. At the same time focusing on relaxing highly tense lumbar spine, trying to consciously focus the protection and stabilization of my belly and intestines to lazy front muscles, not overworked lumbar sector muscles. Additionally I tried to work on elongating my spine and working on it's flexibility. After few months of this, accompanied with proper amounts of water intake, I saw a significant difference. My lazy abs activated probably for the first time in my life, my spine got flexible and stronger. I feel taller. And my weight started to drop naturally because of the different weight distribution in my body. And my endometriosis got better and eternal constipations lessened. My weak ankle still hurts but I can hold squats for much longer now.
The point is, what you're saying here is truly crucial. Not only for backpain and stability, but also for all plethora of modern health issues, including endometriosis, indigestions, breathing problems, cardiovascular system and everything that happens inside our core. It's not only spine and muscles 🙏
Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work please ❤

Great video. I am a PT of 30+ years and I agree with you. Stability is not the final goal. Strength through the entire ranges of the lumbar spine. Its common sense. You can make rehab as complicated as you want, and I believe some therapist do this deliberately. IMO

    • @lowbackability
      @lowbackability  13 дней назад

@ no I don’t think they are aware. I believe there is a massive gap of practical understanding of how the spine can decay or remodel over time. No study exists on the effect of 2+ years of a direct & progressive stimulus to the spine, because no one has ever been instructed to do so.
We have correctly observed that spinal flexion increases shear load. However we have falsely assumed this to be a bad thing.
It’s about the dosage, the steps, and ultimately the practical process that even the most sophisticated experts will miss because they have never been through the process themselves.
Textbooks will be change in the next decade from this movement. And it will be put into motion from practical innovation, created from wisdom of actual experience. Then the medical field will follow through the appropriate research.

Brendan, thank you for this! The missing link. I'm 59 years old. Between age 18-30, had recurring, chronic low back pain that would put me on the floor for two weeks, just from tying my shoe. I spent so much money on chiropractors! When that didn't work, I'd go to the ER- I couldn't sit in the waiting room. I had to lie on the floor. I was treated like a crazy person, and nothing they did helped. The episodic back pain eventually stopped, but not because of anything I did. Now I'm very interested in keeping as much bone, mobility and balance as possible to avoid the dreaded fates I've seen in some of my patients (I'm an RN) and friends. This is the way to go. You are literally changing lives for the better! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I had been suffering with low back pain for months. It would literally hurt to roll over to get out of bed. I was desperate for help. My chiropractor (who is awesome) assigned me the same stabilization exercises. The exercises weren't doing enough for me quickly enough. Then I came across your video and what you were saying made sense to me. I did a variation of the back extension on a machine at the gym with moderate. I have to say that the next day, I noticed a decrease in my low back pain. I have been doing the exercise for two weeks now and my low back pain is practically gone. I dreaded getting up in the morning because of some degree of pain. And, suddenly, the other day, I had made my way to the bathroom to get ready for my day when it occurred to me that it wasn't a struggle to get up that morning. My back feels amazing, and I feel as mobile as I was before. Thanks for the information.

That's a great story in the show notes! (Although I am of course very sorry you had back pain in the first place).
I have a similar story with my foot pain:
    - years of pain
    - Doctors tried to convince me surgery was the only option to get pain free, and I'd never play sport properly
    - But I had a hunch that there was a solution in making my whole body move better
    - I finally became pain free using exercises influenced by Knees over Toes Guy and others
    - BUT... It took hours and hours per day of study, developing plans, testing, adjusting. And I had to leave my job to focus on it 100%, which cost me everything. I'm glad I did it because I know I will be able to play sport again, but really it should not have required me to put my life on hold to find the solutions - why isn't standard physiotherapy more holistic??
Any way, I digress, thanks for your videos!

My pushup number is between 60-80, military form. And my back extension reps varies between 8-15. Thanks for the comparison.
I've watched many videos, learned many interpretations. I do my own myo-fascial release, and I have a friend who is an MAT practitioner. My tissue work relieves fascia tension, but never fixes the weaknesses. MAT seems to activate the muscles but only for a short period of time, minutes, hours, days. Then it goes away.
And I keep tweaking my lower back. After listening to you, I hear you saying things I haven't heard. Like the way we find this pain through our body protecting ourselves. This is intuitive in the experience. I am inclined to implement your routines, over others, because you seem to have what feels like the 'whole picture'.
Thanks for the focus and dedication you've put into this, and bringing it to youtube. I plan to come back in a few months when I've put your practices to work, and give some feedback.

Best advice I can give is.... Get off your backside and work....ie. keep your body moving. Stop eating junk foods.......ie. breads, sweets, cakes, crisps, sugar drinks, cola etc. tap water, white salt AND SUGAR! Eat honey instead. Stop eating food for enjoyment, food is there to keep you alive and healthy. Its not there for enjoyment. I'm 77, I can deep squat. No problem, dead hang 2 minutes+ sprint 100m no problems. Due to many years in construction including 4 years Hod carrying I had to have my back stretched in my 20's. I get back pains etc but that does not stop me from keeping active. Trust me, one day when you are 60 and older you will wish you had done the above. Great video, THANKS.

I was leaving my appointments in the same pain I came in with, but my SI was aligned according to her assessments. I told her this and she went thru the notes to confirm, questioned me extensively about my pain when I started vs now and said my SI WAS NOW HEALED. Back to square 1 after a week of depression and increasing pain, I promise myself NO SURGERY, KEEP LOOKING FOR THE REAL THING and here it is. I have also figured this out. Ruptured disc in my late 20s, I made the mistake of babying the injury for many years in my weight training, and kept hitting plateaus and getting reinjured, instead of progressively overloading the lower back like every other body part once it was healed. I no longer baby the lower back, I work the lower back just like any other muscle in my workouts. NOTE: you have to be properly healed first, then proceed to work lower back like any other muscle. It is psychologically difficult b/c of how painful of an injury it is and you instinctively want to try to avoid it ever happening again.

Sorry to hear about your back problems at such a young age . I'm 75 and have been exercising on a rowing machine for many years plus I'm a cyclist. So these two exercises keep me in pretty decent shape.. occasionally over my life I've had minor aches and pains if I neglect my exercises. But then when I get back to working out, I feel okay. Plus I use lite weights in moderation. So far so good. I have been exercising since my teenage years but in moderation without overdoing it

I've had back pain my entier life. I am now in my 50's and have worked as a carpenter for most of that time. I got to a point where I could not lift my arms without pain. I had to do something as the doctors said I was healthy and the chiropractor kept blaming me for hurting myself. I go t relief once crawling under a cottage insulating the floor for 2 days, but a fter a couple of days the pain came back and I was left bewildered as to what took the pain away. It felt like I was drapping around huge rocks and I felt very heavy. I have finally traced my injury back to high jumping in grade 8 and I overworked my obliques and they tightened up. 3 years ago I started working on my oliques and they took about a year to get the muscles to a point I could bend sideways. I then started working on my abs and this took away the lower back pain I was having. I now have a simple 30 minute routine and am not mostly pain free. I feel as light as a feather but am around 200 lbs. No one took the time to help me, I had to do it myself. The doctors diagnosed me with ankylosing sponidytis in my 20's. This inflamation was caused by the right muscles. I am now free of this inflamation and feel amazing. Others have told me I have a disease and damaged DNA, which is untrue. Mineral difficient and poisoned by what they spray crops with, but I have removed most of these problems from my diet. Lots of grass fed Red meat and eggs and vegetalbles and no more beer as hops are bad as they produce estrogen which is a big problem for men. There's more to my story, but its great you are sharing your experience with the "experts" and how much they really do not understand how the body works.

Dude this is the absolute best video about back pain and spine load that I have seen! I have been to a McGill seminar and got to meet the guy a few years ago. A great learning experience but to kinesiophobic for my taste. I was about your age at the time and had herniated many discs first with basketball and then finished them off with lifting while my form wasn’t ideal due to all the spasms you were talking about. And as you said i reinjured myself many times trying to get back into shape. This video and info gives so much hope compared to the traditional approach which i think is the most important part!
    Great video!
    Great value!
