  • hello everyone!
happy new year and happy 8k subscribers to us!
i would like to say thank you to all of you for sticking with me even if i have been MIA for the past few weeks. it's currently summer here in NZ and we decided to make the most out of the beautiful sunny weather by doing a lot of road trips and staying outdoors, hence not much time making a content. ☀︎
however, i just can't miss welcoming our new fam members who just got their BBE machine for Christmas. Congratulations! Here's a new video especially dedicated for you. I know it can be frustrating having a new machine but please take it easy. I hope this video will help you out on how to make better coffee at home.♡

Thanks for all your helpful videos your coffee looked amazing. One question - some channels start timing once the first drop comes out, rather than when the button is pressed. I'm confused which method to use.

This is very helpful! I'm curious what the reasoning behind adjusting the dose instead of the grind setting is. I am new to all of this and noticed a lot of people keeping the dose the same (~18g) and just changing the grind settings because they didn't want to change the 1:2 ratio. They also start out with 7 or 8, was curious if it is based on taste (long pull vs short etc).

Great video. Shouldn't the 25 sec be counted from the first drop, excluding preinfusion? So the total time would be around 35 sec.

Yea brevilles do a pre infusion which shouldn’t be counted.

Just bought a barista express. I have the internal grinder set to one and external setting to one. I get 36 gr out from 18gr in… in 14sec I should return my product right?

Kia ora! Love watching your espresso videos. Just got one yesterday and I'm dialing it in. Question on the time - when does it start? the moment you press the button or the moment it starts pouring on group head? Thanks!

Im weighing out my doses and putting them in the hopper each time i make coffee instead of storing the beans in the hopper. But im having an issue where lets say i have 17 grams of beans in, only 14 grams of ground beans comes out and i have to pound the hopper for it to come out. Do you, or anyone else have this issue and is there a solution? I cleaned the grinder completely and it did it right after on the next 17 grams of beans. It seems to be getting stuck in the bottom and not funneling through the hole. Maybe storing the beans in the hopper will solve this? Im not sure. Thanks

Why do you keep mentioning your Burr setting? Have you ever needed to change its default setting?

Hi Kat, first of all congrats on 8K.
I have another question. As you suggested I bought fresh beans from a local Café and I tried to dial in today.
As I can see from your video, you start the timer right when you press the button. But in many videos of other youtubers I can see that they start the timer when they see the first drip of espresso. So I am verrryyyy confused when to actually start the timer.
If I start the timer when I see the first drip, it only takes 10-15 sec. for a 36g espresso not matter how I set the grind size and I already wasted about 1 Kg of coffee beans.
Today with the fresh beans I tried to start the timer right when I press the button just as you did in the video and I can easily reach 25-30 sec. for a 36g espresso. So is that a success? Or am I doing everything wrong? I am so confused.

      Hi Gulnazar, thank you.
That’s what ive seen too from other people but to me and based from what ive read and saw from others as well, i do the timing as soon as i press the shot button. As you’ve mentioned it just doesn’t make sense pressing the timer only when the first drop starts. I say follow ur taste buds :)

U can also change the internal but grind setting.. the one you access after u remove the hopper

    • @kociarz46
      @kociarz46 2 года назад

I was also confused on timing until I made a bad shot and drank it and than I realized there has to be a better way of timing my shots instead of buying scales with timers
🤔 aha iPhones with clocks that have stopwatch and lap starts and OMG LIKE THE ANGELS FROM HEAVEN CAME DOWN LOL
Start your shot and timer on stopwatch at the same time and the orange arm is your pre infusion of 10 sec press than press lap that will be blue( that will be your extraction time
Then you have a print of lap 1 and lap 2 with exact time
      Hope it’s not confusing

It’s so worth it to get amazing espresso but you waste a lot of beans in the beginning
