I keep coming back to this video because I think this is my favorite guitar tone he has gotten. Chewy goodness.
I think those are Throbak pickups he's got in there. There's another video where he's playing the same guitar and they show some specs onscreen
Jimmy Johnson,spetacular musician
Allen Hinds is without peer. Pure tone, taste, skill, feel... AND he plays slide! complete player.
What a great playing
Greg King - Both Allen and I went to Berklee, but we met Jimmy at GIT. Jeff Buckley was there at the same time, too!
Agreed, why do so many people make music a competition? It's art there is no better or worse.
WHAT A SOUND.
So smooth, and 2:53 to the end was quite the hook.
I really like Allen on a Les Paul. Although he can play anything and sound amazing.
Allen, Jimmy and I were all at GIT (me, BIT) with Jeff Buckley, too.
Allen and I went to school with Jimmy Herring!
You must be blessed
CooL!!!
Not so sure about that bro. Both are amazing.
Mads Sørensen It's a conversion, I believe.
look at that alembic bass
whattttt! at 1:00 he plays a lick that makes it sound like he reversed his own lick
Whats the song name??
looks like a Blankenship 20 watt (marshall clone) head and a /13 combo
was this at Berklee? or GIT?
The sound is reminiscent of Jimmy Herring... I think.
I still would say their styles are completely different from each other. Allen uses his fingers a lot, and you really never see Jimmy do that at all
Awsome sound!! What kind of amp does he use here?
I know this comment is 9 years old but it looks like he’s using a Blankenship here into a Divided by 13 cab maybe.
The only person that has the same feel of nuance and subtly is Derek Trucks IMO
Allen has no qualms mixing and matching guitar parts - he does it constantly - although he wouldn't dismantle an all original guit.
that guitar can't be a 55 or a 54. beacouse there was not humbucker pickups until 1957, so if it is original it is a 1957.
Jimmy Herring couldn't touch the precision and slight of touch that Allen Hinds has with a 1000 foot pole...
Pprovo1 bullshit
