    Jay. Thank you for sharing your approach to The Maggio System which I tried a year ago and found problems that I could not get answers to. The system makes absolute sense to me. However, referencing the embrochure and the eye teeth, I have a question concerning mouthpiece placement and eye teeth when my embrochure is decidedly right-sided due to jaw lineup and tooth placement. Nothing drastic. But of all the systems I have experienced, this was my favorite for so many reasons and it was so disappointing when I hit a wall and there was no one to offer any suggestions.

      Hey Alan, thanks for your comment! If I remember, I'll try to address some of your points in my synopsis.
      How do you feel about the pedal register?

    • @CameronJay
      @CameronJay  2 года назад

      Also, I think the placement as described is the notes of the system is a little too specific to be of use to everyone and should be regarded as generalisation, this too for the top / bottom lip placement of the mouthpiece.
      I've a different video talking about basic setup and position, or at least my basic setup and position.
      I'll to get a video done to revisit this with Maggio in mind.

      @@CameronJay Sounds good. I already see improvement following what you shared. I am really happy to be back with the Maggio system. And grateful to have someone like yourself to explain. The Maggio System Book By Carlton MacBeth was done in 1968. I finally have someone in this century to refer to. Thanks again

      @@alandelmonte4335 hey Alan, that means a lot to me, thank you so much! I am by no means an expert, these videos are as much a walk through by my own experience of this system but yes, some modern terminology does add perspective. If you any suggestions on interpretation or execution of any of the material I'd be very interested hear it. Good luck with Maggio and I promise I'll get that synopsis up ASAP!

      @@CameronJay Thank you Cameron. I took a 30 year sabbatical from playing. I worked in the studios and clubs of NYC back in the 70’s and 80’s. When I became a Christian I decided to play again in church. And while I acquired ‘ marching band ‘ chops I became disenchanted and sought out teachers through youtube. I loved Maggio’s approach. Especially the reason for it. You re opened a door my horn playing friend. I look forward to future videos from you. Have a blessed holiday season.

    You are not doing this incorrectly. I study with Mis. Olivia as well as Carlton MacBeath as well as Claude.
    Gordon.
    You have to rest as much as you play in between each measure.
    You have a beautiful sound.

      Hey Eric, thank you for your message! Wow, I wish I'd had the chance to study with those guys and thanks for your comment on my sound. I think if I was to redo lesson I would include this information in the video, I've always felt that as long as I felt relaxed and in control throughout each Maggio lesson I'd carry on as shown, but yes, the balanced rest is important. 🙏

    how to study week one exercise or in a row?

    • @CameronJay
      @CameronJay  3 года назад

      Hello Yan! Thank you for your question, it's a very good question. I would suggest that you become familiar with the exercise to the point where you feel as though you're starting to benefit from the lesson. Initially, playing warmup A, followed by lesson 1 might be a daily routine but I suggest that you vary your practice, ensure good rest and start to look at Warm up B and lesson 2 once you feel it's time to move on, you're ready to be challenged more.
      I'm about to upload lesson 5 and also a short video relating to the question you just asked, I'll hopefully be able to go into a little more detail. I hope this helps and thank you again for you comment.

      ...however, at no point as far as I can see that "rest as often as you play" is given as a direct instruction. If playing by ourselves as in my demonstration then maintaining flow through rest and play with a metronome works fine, it probably is better to work with the "Buddy System" as Calton / Maggio suggests as this would enforce a play rest balance without even trying. I have no issues with resting balancing on playing. Also, I wasn't ever instructed by Calton or Maggio!
