This song is open to so much interpretation. I love how she pulls him from the depths of his mind as if to save him in the end... Obviously there is so much more to the song/video than just the one aspect at the end, but that moment hit the hardest for me. I'd love to hear the meaning behind the song - all of the songs really.
I initially interpreted the lyrics to mean that he wanted to save her, but the video gave way to a different interpretation - and yet - even my interpretation of his or her interpretation could be way off. That's what I love about a song though. It can be interpreted to mean different things for different people. 🖤

While I just found it that these two videos showed how both feel about their relationship (whether it's platonic or romantic). In Spiders, guy lets his fear take over his mind in which the first video ends (that's what I assume as he was watching those snippets and escapes from them). I too thought that Shadows would also be from guy's perspective b because of lyrics.
Whereas in Shadows, his friend holds him up and saves him (comforts him) by stopping to go into downward spiral and also, maybe telling that their relationship or friendship is not over and they still are together. That's what I can interpret. Like sometimes your mind is a bad thing
I'd be honestly excited about acoustic version of these two songs. They are really good to be on acoustic
There is something about your sound that makes me stop whatever I'm doing, close my eyes, and feel deeply. You're so consistent in baring your souls, and I just want to thank you for giving us pieces of you with every new release.
I've been struggling with mental health issues for years now. Several people that I love also struggle with mental health issues. This song makes me remember that it's OK to have shadows. The right people will always love you, and the shadows that walk beside you.for those of us that are suffering, we never suffer alone.
I know it's not what the song is specifically about. Though I encountered my soulmate when I was 22. I disregarded it as an extreme crush, it was something I was not capable of understanding at that time. She was a coworker. She was already in a committed relationship when we were seeing one another. I left for work in a different province, before leaving she jokingly suggested we get an apartment and stay instead. A few years pass, and I realize that if anything, that "crush" just had gotten worse. I managed to contact her, she explained how happy she was, still with the same guy, so I never brought things up. If it's one sided, it's one sided. 12 more years pass. Without contact. Thinking about her often. Life decided to go completely sideways for me one day, to the point where I was not sure if this would be it for me or not. So I decided to contact her again. The only woman I ever actually loved. She still remembered every detail from 13 almost 14 years ago. Same as myself. I decided to spill the beans when she asked, what harm could it do after this much time, her in another committed relationship. I was never going to actually tell her how I still felt. I just wanted to make sure she was doing well. She explains how she thought I was imaginary, and that she convinced herself of this in order to move on, because she feels the same way. She lied about the first relationship breaking down during our email exchange because she believed her feelings were one sided. We are not perfect people by any stretch, we both have some severe issues, though we are perfect for one another. So here we are now, old, still wildly confused, and myself still waiting. This song hits personal issues between us with a very eloquent, gigantic, rock. Thank you for creating it, regardless of my misinterpretation.
Such a poetic lyric! I love the part "i just need a moment to compose myself". in deed, to help our love ones, we must help ourself first. Although it truly is devastating, to see our love ones suffering from their private sadness alone, knowing that we couldn't do much to help them because of our own unfinished battle.

I guess I must have a cold heart. I love their musical a lot. but it doesn't make me cry. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I cried. Instead, it makes me more Introspective and contemplative.

I stumbled down a rabbit hole and found this, on a day that I am struggling deeply with my kid's diagnosis. This song manages to come on and I just let it ride in my headphones... Low and behold I find myself just blown away.
This song touched some emotions as it spoke almost to the T something I was going through with an ex who was hooked on drugs and how I was doing what I could to just navigate through that period of two years plus that I was dealing with that situation.

I lost one of my closest friends, this past September. I miss him fucking much, some days. Now, my wife and I are expecting a little one, and the can’t help but think of him even more. I wish he was here to meet my soon to be little one.
I lost my best friend to suicide on the 24th February. This song helped me through the aftermath. I would give it all back, if I could just find a way to help her out. The darkness found her, and we were too late.

Almost 20 years ago my dear friend lost his sister to a senseless violent murder, and the immediate resulting years were a tumultuous confusing time for everyone who knew her. You find the world pushes on while you're stuck in the moment hoping for answers, anything to make sense of the inexplicable. The messaging of this song and video is emblematic of trying to support someone through their worst moments, when nothing can quell the resulting heartache and anger.

Bumped into you in the street in Berlin 2019 before the first gig of the tour and didn't get a selfie ( an age thing ) and Amsterdam on the last night which was awesome . The post COVID Clapham Grand was enjoyable but strange for all . See you in Cologne in May under better circumstances ( we hope ) .
