I'm from Brazil and I'm in love with this band. The sound they bring us is incredible, the lyrics are incredible. Thank you for this work of art. Happy day to whoever is reading the comment!
Music doesnt usually effect me but this song means so much to me. My grandmother died of alzheimers and to watch a once strong sharp witted country woman fade away so quickly both physically and mentally broke my heart
I saw them play this song on a bright mondaymorning in April (and all the other songs from the upcomming album). I can tell you guys, IT'S GOING TO BE AMAZING!!!!
There's so much shit music forced upon us these days just complete meaningless crap, but once in a while a song comes along that hits you right in the guts, this is one of those songs, can't stop listening to it.
i never understand why great music like this is just pushed away from mainstream broadcasting, maybe they dont want people to just feel and become alive by hearing it, the music that is pushed down our throats day to day is just terrible and talentless.
this song is simply exquisite. I love everything about this song..the beautiful male vocals, the haunting melody and the hypnotic arrangement. where are these amazing performers from? the video is brilliant a true work of art. this needs to be a big hit and have more views!
I totally agree with Annick Kalff. I came across this song today and I've just put it on repeat. I can't get enough of it. Why have I never heard it before? Thank you Bear's Den for such a beautiful song.
this is definitely the best song iv hear in a good few years not only can it be listened to on a deep level but even just when chilling . one of a kind
Love this new sound from Bear's Den, as long as the album is a mix of the new and old style (don't ever forget your roots guys) then I'm certain we won't be disappointed. Great song
What a fantastic song. Musically pleasant and the lyrics are excellent! Using the mystery of the Auld Wives Lifts to talk about his memories before his Dad's dementia set in. "I see his face carved deep in the stone, another mind you have taken away". Genius.
Wow, this is really really good! Very impressive, the events in the video match with the song exactly, either musically or lyrically. And I like all the little details, lyrics of Red earth and pouring rain on fire (oh no!). Great job!
Got into them in error, though don't regret knowing of their music...this is a crack'in track.....so many more, so inspirational and uplifting.....thanks
Bear's Den have smashed it again! "spellbinding loveliness" . London duo are convincingly gut-wrenching on their second album - Red Earth & Pouring Rain (out 22nd July) . The band received two nominations at the UK Americana Awards in 2016, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for "Agape". __ #FolkRock #AlternativeRock
after sophie guys and when you break, i see this album, woooooooooow, followed you 2years ago and im happy cause you are the new great deal, well done, keep it up
I think the guys made a good decision to go to 2. There was a bit of a ruckus in Toronto when I saw them for the second time. The member that is no longer part of the band engaged in it inappropriately. I think the band is on a good course. Deep lyrics, huge volume. Which they have always been. Love.
Auld wives lifts Auld wives lifts How have you got here? Where do you come from? What do you tell? I see his face I see his face Carved deep in the stone Another mind you have taken away But I swam across the ocean to find your memory A trace of all you've left behind And the auld wives swore that you were born to die Without a child for to call out your name Now I call your name I call your name, but you can't hear me now No, you don't recognise my face Who are you? Who are you? And why do you call me that? How dare you call me that But I swam across the ocean to find your memory A trace of all you've left behind And the auld wives swore that you were born to die Without a child for to call out your name But I call your name I call your name I call your name I call your name But I swam across the ocean to find your memory A trace of all you've left behind And the auld wives swore that you were born to die Without a child for to call out your name
That moment you discover Bear's Den and don't want anything else anymore
So true
I swear to god, the exact thoughts of every fan of this band.
exactlyyyy
Yeah, they are special. Sadly I haven't see them live even they were in my country many times. 🙁
True...
I'm from Brazil and I'm in love with this band. The sound they bring us is incredible, the lyrics are incredible. Thank you for this work of art. Happy day to whoever is reading the comment!
Fuck yeah boys, cannot WAIT for the whole record.
Amazing Album hope u love it, same as me!
Incredible and haunting
Joseph Marcell is such a talented actor, and this song is so hauntingly beautiful.
Music doesnt usually effect me but this song means so much to me. My grandmother died of alzheimers and to watch a once strong sharp witted country woman fade away so quickly both physically and mentally broke my heart
I just kept turning this up and up and up.

That's what makes the discovery all the more precious.
You have to put in the work to find beauty in this ugly world.
This is the song that introduced me to Bear's Den. Now my new favourite band.

They are from England
Not Bearsden in Scotland?
@@danielflannelly9275 They took there name from there though, and Auld Wives Lifts rocks are only a few miles North West of Milngavie.
I don't know why, but I think it's MAGIC!
I'm glad I got into Bear's Den like 2 days ago, RIGHT IN TIME FOR THIS RELEASE
the song makes me feel cold for some reason, but it's awesome
It does feel cold! Because of the color grading (imo) :D
Still a wonderful tune after all this time 👍🦻
I totally agree with Annick Kalff. I came across this song today and I've just put it on repeat. I can't get enough of it. Why have I never heard it before? Thank you Bear's Den for such a beautiful song.

Joseph Marcell or may i say Geoffrey Butler, a great comedian and actor, fits perfectly in this amazing video.

Love this new sound from Bear's Den, as long as the album is a mix of the new and old style (don't ever forget your roots guys) then I'm certain we won't be disappointed. Great song
