Terminal is not an issue, it's THE feature! :) I love that it doesn't depend on a specific IDE; that's a great plus for me.

One of the things I like about Aider is how easy it is to switch providers. I would be good if this composer nd cline have possibility to define provider profiles which can be saved and switched easily

What FREE model do you recommand actueally (for coding) for using now together with Aider Composer?
Thanks a lot for your answer.
    Have a nice day.

Going to give this a go. I like Aider but dislike doing it via the terminal hence why I mostly use Cursor and Cline. Thanks for the video

The real advantage of Aider compared to Cursor or Winsurf is that it is a termainl Ai so you could use other ides beside vscode. Ides like Intellij or Eclipse. This is kind of going backward.

I'm still using windsurf, and still haven't finished my trial, its okay, but sonnet 3.5 gets stuck a lot, I guess AI is not ready yet for creating large scale programs, as soon as the program gets bigger then 10 files it starts making hallucination and errors, it always tries to re create files even though they exist, memory issues, it forgets all its work after the 10th file and starts analyzing files but sometimes it doesn't even look for files it just makes one up, in my peoject it ended up creating 3 types of servers for the back end, sql, mongoDB, and sqllite, then it said "ohh i see the problem, there are multiple back end server sources, lets delete 2 and use one" then it cycles back and re creates the 2 deleted.😂😂😂😂
Its good for web design though, however app design and complex ideas are very hard on it.

I find small stories go a long way. I would do the same for a junior dev.

I also add a subdir that is not in Git that has a punchlist.md, intructions.md, and maybe a requirements.md. I keep telling it to review this subdir and do the punchlist one thing at a time very deliberatly. This tends to keep it from going crazy and forgetting or rewriting stuff, which is very frustrating. After finishing a chunk of work, i ask it to update the files based on our efforts. Lather, rinse, repeat. This seems to help with the big issue of these systems kind of losing the forest in the trees.

    • @DemocracyDecoded
      @DemocracyDecoded 5 минут назад

@@JohnKruse i see, let me try that today, might be a good idea, i also have something that helped me along the way a bit, after each command i tell it to design a test for it and implement the test, then it finds errors in its code and fixes them.
Actually i put the prompt into chatGPT and tell it to design me a prompt for sonnet 3.5 to design and test XYZ app... i also tell it to break the prompts into 10 sub prompts at least if the project is too big.
It helps but not a lot, it still takes a lot of back and fourth until it gets it all right but most of the time it fails and i abandon the project.

So which LLM is best for coding? I always use Sonnet 3.5 but I see lots of ppl using that Lama model.

There are a bunch of providers which gives you access to Models for free like GLHF, Groq, Cerebras, Sambanova, Github Models and much more.

      ?
There are lots of free ones now if you look.
Google AI Studio has, but they are not as strong as Claude Sonnet 3.5 for coding.
