The REO Brothers, pronounced Rio, are real brothers from the Philippines. They are known for their Beatles covers, even as far as England, where they played in the famous Cavern, where the Beatles played. They cover music from the 50's, 60's and 70's, such as the Bee Gees, The Eagles and many more. They try and stay true to the original as much as possible. I'm from Houston, Texas and been here for 45 years. I love the Beatles but never heard of a cover band like the REO BROTHERS. I listened to a lot of american cover band but a bit short.
RE: the guitar - It's a "cello bass". Look at some of the old Beatles vids, you'll see McCartney playing something very similar. Might be that because it is a symmetrical shape, it's easier to re-string and play for a lefty like McCartney. Or maybe Paul just thought it looks cool. I'm not gonna second-guess one of the best singer-songwriters in the history of popular music when it comes to instrument choice!

Thanks for your great reaction to these fantastic musicians. They cover so many artists it would be difficult to choose a favourite. Their most recent video is Mr blue sky by ELO but their covers of bee gees, America, eagles, alan parsons are just awesome.
The bass is a Hoffner bass , the same exact one that Paul McCartney uses and has used since his early Beatle days . You should hear them do some of Simon and Garfunkels music .

In the early days, Paul McCartney used a Hofner bass, a German brand. As you have noticed, it's shape is very distinctive, being closer to violin than most electric guitars. I am uncertain whether the bass in this video of REO Brothers is a copy or the real thing. Either way, it is certainly indicative of how the group strive to be as close to the original as possible.
The Beatles and Elvis presley are legends. There was a band called eraserhead back in the early 90s that sounded closer to Beatles although it was originally filipino band. I called them the Beatles of the Philippines back when I was a kid.
