I've never had cheese fondue and I don't know of anyone else who's had it. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but for me, fondue is dipping raw chunks of meat in boiling hot fat until the meat is edible. My family does this for every New Year's Eve.
I so want to try cheese fondue though, as well as chocolate fondue, which my friend told me about!

Actually, for the traditional Swiss fondue we dip bread into the cheese, not meat
In my area if switzerland, we call the dipping of meat into souplike water "fondue chinoise" (chinese fondue). for us, the "real" fondue is dipping bread (or sometimes apples) into that warm cheese mix. chocolate fondue is great too; i love it :)
