Thank you for an amazing job of sharing the benefits of personal writing! You are so right on every point. I did the same thing in college and it was the only thing that kept me sane. I learned that ink is a wonderful memory cement when it comes in contact with paper, and when life gets weird and you need to sort things out there's no greater (or less expensive) therapist in the world than a pen and blank page. On another site, I read the account of an enlisted Russian language specialist who had a rough time learning the language at the Defense Language Institute. Things got better for him when he accidently dropped his flash cards into a deep rain puddle, soaking most of them. He bought a stack of index cards and started transcribing the old to the new. In the 70's we had summary punishments called Extra Drills (ED) at Duntroon. You could do them in the morning at 0600 or in the evening at 1700. More serious penalties included SOL (Stoppage of Leave): no sport, no booze, no leave. You did ED's in the morning and the evening plus Check Parades in Blues Patrol at 1000, 1300, 1900 and 2200. I understand, you must manage time management and discipline as well as accepting the fact that West Point is a prestigious opportunity that you must be grateful for. However I think there's a difference between punishment and purposely making one's life unnecessary difficult just for the sake of "tradition".
It doesn't really seem that that form of punishment is setting any long term mentally productive traits in cadets but rather lowering their self esteem and making them feel resentful
But hey I plan on going there too so I guess I should shut up
why were those soldiers walking about. how long do they have to do that
Probably skipped class or something and a few hours
I'm from lewisville Arkansas that flag go hard bro
Actually, one of my BEST memories of Woops is walking the Area one day when a guy put his speakers out his window and started playing "Walkin' Man." It was perfect...and not just because of the song's title, either!
David Wiggins there’s an entire “hours” playlist with only songs that talk about walking
I like your uniform
I'm an 8th grader taking high school honors classes, going to be a section leader, and I have a leadership role in my martial arts school. However, I have a small stutter. I can talk pretty much fluent, but I may say a letter like two times. Will this small problem lower my chances of getting in?
Cheesestar Not at all man. Just keep your grades up, stay out of trouble, and do lots of community service.
Dylan Disher Great to hear. Thank you for telling me!
Cheesestar Enjoy highschool. Looking so far ahead so soon isn't smart. Just have fun, get good grades with some decent courses and start thinking about it when your sophmore year rolls around.
Cheesestar I never knew you could choose classes in 8th grade.
This was me four years ago. To anyone who stumbles on this comment, I am at West Point, almost done with my Plebe year.
Those uniforms are super odd
This is… actually very surprising for West Point.
This is what I thought West Point would punish cadets but 10 times worse: ruclips.net/video/kwQPJu228Kg/видео.html
What I got here: 0:57
Also why isn’t West Point or most military academies like this? ruclips.net/video/bHrSoxGoSSk/видео.html they’re training officers, so they should get more brutal training than the enlisted training to earn that higher power
That’s not the case. I did medical coverage for CST, and their “Basic” is laughable compared to regular Basic.
How tf is that hair and tattoos in regs? Inch and a quarter bulk, and that hair is like 4 in
Dom Andriacchi it’s West Point, a drill instructor would’ve ripped him several new asses.
wait, you’re from Arkansas!?
ye
What’s the policy with lower arm tattoos?
Nothing "offensive" and nothing that would show in a long sleeve shirt
What's your major?
NAVEE RUEANGSOMBAT GIS I talk about it more in my more recent video
OH Thank you
Can you link music?
Not him but it's an instrumental of Awoo by Lim Kim
Fellow Arkansan here
Why are there 50+ cadets doing walking tours
Please, spare me. When I was in the Core, back in '37, we didn't have fancy things like... a wall!!! "Wall is boring," he says. Well, let me tell you something, when I first came to Montana in '22 we didn't have walls, we were POOR!!! Anyway, I just got a GREAT coupon from Famro Joe, for $17!!! Says I can buy anything but toilet tissue. No shit!!!!
How are you still alive
Love the Arkansas flag lol
Nice flag in the background! ;-)
thanks my mom bought it for me
Ok the tittle says punishment and you spoke more about your notebook/journal than actual punishments
i was just excepted into STEM program at west point
Gabriel Miller accepted?
Gabriel Miller, How, you can't even write.
Gabriel Miller Somehow I doubt that
@@otakamerd1220 Maybe he means he didn't get in, he was "excepted"...
Sunray Major Lol 😆
what are the academic requirements for west point?
1. Good grades
2. Don't have bad grades
@@Justin_Taylor if i currently go to a military school will it increase my chances of getting accepted?
Shit!!! Ohhh the warfighter veterans got to salute this new officers maybe it will feel awkward....
Are you from Arkansas
Mmhmm
@@Justin_Taylor me too😁
@@Justin_Taylor did you hear about what happened last night at War Memorial?
Are you from arkansas?
yup
@@Justin_Taylor my dad went to west point, and he is from Arkansas. Where I'm Arkansas?
aye arkansas
I have the same watch
Arkansas, Wooooooo Pig Soooooie! Also GO NAVY!
LOL I’m surprised it’s called punishment because in the Army, you can’t call it punishment any more, you have to call it corrective training or corrective action. You will have JAG all over you if have the word punish/ punishment is in your counselings or even say it. Even the terms getting smoked or smoked
