Nico Padden is a NY-based, one-woman folk-rock riot. Ben Folds said she has “a big voice, gorgeous voice,” and that her song Pirate Queen is “original and classic at the same time.” Her 2022 album of the same title received positive reviews from Americana Highways, Glide Magazine, Guitar Girl magazine, and frequently made the NACC top 30. She has performed at John Platt’s On Your Radar, Folk Music Society of Huntington, Voices in the Heights Brooklyn, Rockwood Music Hall, and the New York Songwriters Circle. She was a 2019 Folk DJ’s choice at NERFA. She is the recipient of a scholarship to the 2023 New England Songwriting Retreat, selected by Ellis Paul.
Her music is Americana, pop/rock, and folk, and celebrates the strength of fierce women. Pirate Queen, the title of her most recent album, is the nickname given to Padden by her fans, and it defines who she is- musical leader, outspoken feminist, lover/protector of those around her. Her music is both tender and fierce, laden with harmonies, powerful choruses, and catchy hooks.
