I've been following Ellen for about a year, and as super talented as she is, it's the smile and the giggles that always get me. She loves what she does and it shows just how much she enjoys it.
Her and YOYOKA just released a version of Hysteria with an all-kid group and they all killed it, individually and collectively. It just came out two weeks ago and it's posted on her YT and Yoyaka's YT as well
I’m a musician and her timing is impeccable
At 11yo Ellen is already a ROCK GODDESS but those giggles only indears her. I only hope I am still around to see her "IN CONCERT"!!!❤🙏

@@clintonshepard6107 LOL! I often feel that way. Started playing the bass 2 years ago at age 67. I just play along with RUclips videos and take online courses. For me it's like singing in the shower. Nobody gets to hear how bad it sounds but I get to play rock star alongside some of my favorite artists.

It's funny. This song is basically a 3 minutes 47 seconds constant bass solo with a song layered on the top of it. Insanely cool.
Ellen has been playing for a few years. Even the 3/4 size bass was taller than her. Her cover of Rush’s Tom Sawyer is excellent! She was nine when I ran across one of her videos. Hovac, her father, teaches her, and you’re correct that he is an amazing guitarist. Ellen’s smile is so contagious! Ellen is also a vocalist and an artist. There is a video of her where she says who her favorite bassists are and she was brought up on classic rock, but also likes funk.

Check out her amazing collaborations with Yoyoka (drums) and other kid musicians. Led Zeppelin - The Ocean, full cover of Muse - Hysteria, Boston - Peace of Mind. The Beatles are her favorite band but she is learning rock, funk and jazz bass classics.
I've been following little Ellen for a couple of years, and I've seen her play harder, more technically challenging bass lines than this. She seems to have an incredibly close relationship with her dad, who clearly makes this fun for her as opposed to the overbearing parenting we often see with talented youngsters. She always has a beaming smile, and I hope she has a lifetime of joy from playing bass. Well done Dad!
Actually I'm a bit envy about theirs relationship even if I have a good one with my son who lives in Dublin and I in the UK. I think she's gonna be a huge musician composer. Everything points there.

When Ellen is playing this bassline it seems to be that easy to nail this...but believe me - it's NOT easy! Woooooow - what a talented young girl!!! Keep on rocking! 😍
She has a wonderful father who has been working with her ever since she started playing. Just an amazing bassist. You should hear her play a fret less bass. It’ll knock your socks off!
She always ends with that signature smile! Not her most impressive performance musical IMHO, but awesome demonstration of strength in her ability to be playing with that intensity non-stop for nearly 4 minutes.
Thanks for taking time to react to this one guys. You made some great observations. She does mute the strings with the right thumb by "floating" her thumb across the strings as needed. And she mutes strings with her left hand when appropriate. It just happens fast. She also has videos showing her amazing slap bass technique. BP2, I haven't tackled this one yet. I've been playing for about 2 1/1 years now using online courses. At my age, the fingers lag behind a bit. But it's still fun. Thanks again for a top notch reaction.- Hawk

It is pretty amazing to be able to see all these youngsters now, where we would not have had the opportunity before YT

Knowing all too well what an amount of work goes into playing covers even on a just 'decent' level .. it almost makes me wanna cry of joy and appreciation watching her play and i'm a full grown man. Seen a few of her videos and it strikes me how tight, articulate and flawless she is playing at that age.
What a sweet, little impressive lady, i hope she makes a dent in the music world as she grows up. I'll be looking out.

Yeah. I can't wait to see what she's doing 5 years from now. My hands are small, but not that small and I still struggle with some bass lines. She's a joy to watch and that smile says it all.

Site mutes the first string cause her fingers aren't yet long enough to reach the high E xD And if you were paying attention any time that she had to use the deep E her fingers are on the magnets where most of us adult bassists hold our fingers remember that she is 11 years old and she has a lot more time to grow than us who picked up the instrument when we were 15-16 ;)
Fun little update, she was part of a "Kids Rock for Kids" where she played this with 5 other teens, including Yoyoka Soma on drums. You definitely should do a reaction to that rendition, as well.

LMAO! She sings as well. Check out Ellen Alaverdyan - Penny Lane (Bass & Vocal Cover) I don't mean she -you know- sings a bit! She has excellent pitch, and nails the lower register (which is very difficult for young girls especially).

If your family is that into music, you would expect talent. I'm guessing bass playing the frets is easier on the fingers than a standard guitar. Still it must be tough on young tender fingers.

I know she can learn bass lines, but I question her creativity, and I have seen where her father has given her lessons in improvisation, but that is also different from being able to create bass lines on her own. She is fantastic, especially for 11, but I’m left asking who is Ellen, I want to see her style and creativity, her artistry. I’m sure that day is coming. For reference you should look at Kanade Sato, who also started playing drums at 2, she was playing with professional musicians on stage at 6, she won “Hit Like a Girl” at 12, and now at 21, plays jazz fusion like no other drummer, her ability to create rhythms with complex syncopation is unbelievable, and you have no trouble recognizing her artistry, which is what I’m waiting for from Ellen.
