Very good summary and comparaison of top bodybuilders. Your video is definitely a reference. Could you please make an update in order to take into account the number of wins from Olympia for Phil Heath and also Dexter Jackson? Thanks
personally i'd place Arnold at #1. You cant really compare them physique wise when there's 3 decades in between. You can't judge Arnold physique wise when Ronnie had tons of better and more steroids. Arnold did so much more for the sport and inspired so many more people, which should be taken much higher in account. He is the best ambassador for the sport, he even has his own bodybuilding contest which also is the second biggest/most important contest today. That alone says alot about how important Arnold was to the sport. and considering that he was only 23 when winning his first sandow and the fact that he was only beaten by sergio and zane because he was not out of the oven yet and very very young says alot about how great he was. Like you said, had he not jumped into hollywood he would've been mr O till samir bannout. Arnold is imo by far the Greatest Of All Time
An excellent summary! Hard to argue with any of it if we're being objective. As you say, it would be a different list if we were just talking personal preference, where a lot of us would put Zane top 10, for example.
If you consider everything. Not just the physique or the amount of muscle alone. Then there's literally no way Anyone would top Arnold. Ronnie is a strong 2nd.
Fuuuuuck that intro killlllllllls me. Ty for retiring it lol. I watch these when I'm going to sleep and hang that ridiculous nose out of no where destroys me!
Come on, Arnold is the greatest of all time. I don't think it is even that close. First, the bodybuilding sport would not be close in it's relative popularity without Arnold. He's been the main spokesman throughout it's history even when he did not compete and his visibility as an actor and governor enhanced bodybuildings popularity. The Arnold Classic Sports festival is bigger by far than any other bodybuilder whose has his name attached to it. Most importantly, there has never been a bodybuilder that's had the aesthetics, symmetry and muscular development combined in one package. Further, if he was doing that same stuff that Dorian started in the 90's and the continued evolving more massive competitors, no one could have beat him, even Ronnie who is right behind Arnold as the greatest.
I disagree strongly. While what he did for the sport is completely unmatched, I don’t think his influence should make him the GOAT. The GOAT should be the one who actually had the best physique and he just doesn’t. His physique is great with the best chest of all time imo, but his legs are absoloutely embarrassing compared to others on this list.
Completely agree with this list. Too bad it wasn’t a top 20 because there are so many great names that don’t make the cut. One honorable mention that seemed to be missing was Vince Taylor. Granted, no Mr. Olympias and I believe only one Arnold Classic but he had the record for most wins for quite some time. Didn’t have the impact some of these other guys did, however, so I can see how he might not get a mention.
Yeah Vince would be top 20. Some others off the top of my head would include Kai, Ray, Labrada, Zane, Bannout, probably Franco and Scott since they each won two, then maybe Gaspari and Cormier
that some sick 'get to the choppa' quote in arnie's voice at the start. top shit man. i was just about to go off to sleep and that quote jolted me awake and couldn't stop laughing. i got to stop eating the peyote , makes me hallucinate.
Critics are good, but people shouldnt trash your work. As for me you did a good job. And wish we could be polite in pointing loop holes or making our own suggestion.
It's hard because there are so many guys who had great builds but Bill Pearl, Steve Reeves, John Grimek, Larry Scott, Drave draper, Reg Parks, Bertil Fox, Franco Columbo, Tom Platz, Mike Mentzer, Samir Bannout and Lou Ferrigno come to mind.
I agree. I also think that the host should have mentioned the amount of steroids these guys were inhaling throughout the years of competition. I like natural more than the humongous, almost ugly physiques of many of these guys. Also, we should remember how many of the monsters of the sport died at very early ages, mostly attributable to their high and incessant intake of very powerful and dangerous steroids that resulted in heart attacks.
True! Coleman was a product of insulin, and he has detailed that he took every drug made throughout his career, which explains why he is a walking dead man today.
bodybuilding was great until ronnie came and ruined the sports forever.... after 2000 he brought the worst looking phisique... which was carried forward by phil the gut heath....happy to see rhoden winning in 2018... best bb were - Arnold , haney , dorian , shawn ray , kevin levrone , flex wheeler
His physique is so good which inspires people to go to gym. Many of us become bodybuilder because of him. There's something very special about his physique that no other bodybuilder had. The Number 2 position is quite lower for him if you ask me.
@@mohammadsufian7890 I guess i appreciate your comment but I do not see the relevance it has to my first comment? I was just stating that having a qualifier of "how many people did they inspire" is only there to as a way to justify Arnold placing as high as possible. If you judge the best best body builders, but leave that one qualifying statement out, Arnold would not be able to reasonably rank ahead of some of the other biggest names like Lee Haney and Dorian Yates. Arnold is the only Mr. O where you HAVE TO place some caveats on his wins. Crazy almost all of these guys were in the same era
Fantastic list I agree completely
Gotta add cbum now
Fuuuuuck that intro killlllllllls me. Ty for retiring it lol. I watch these when I'm going to sleep and hang that ridiculous nose out of no where destroys me!
Guys, #1 could potentially be you. Keep grinding kings 🤴
I agree Ronnie is and will always be a beast
Bro it sounded like he said the n word in the beginning
All is best but Arnold is beast 🔥🔥🔥😍😍
Jay Culter is my number 1 just because of the sheer perseverance he had, as well as the longevity of his physic even into his 50s
My Top Ten List would not contain one Bodybuilder since the 00s.
I am not Hating. In my Opinion there are not more asthetic. The very early 90s are the last few Years you can really enjoy.
@my name is DRAKE
28. Is just my Opinion Dude. Modern Days Bodybuilder looks not good. 70s and 80s are the best physiques.
We think the rock is big but if he stays next to Ronnie...
Flex lewis? Unless this is only a open bodybuilding list
I want to look like Frank Zane or Arnold than most of the guys on this list.
Add Chuck Sipes.
Nailed it
Arnold has a special place in my heart and influenced me more than ronnie so he is still at the top for me
Don’t cry
Ronnie the biggest, hardest MASSbuilder of all time. Arnold the BEST BODYbuilder of all time. There is some difference.
True! Coleman was a product of insulin, and he has detailed that he took every drug made throughout his career, which explains why he is a walking dead man today.
For me Arnold's the best I search from google love the video by the way
bodybuilding was great until ronnie came and ruined the sports forever.... after 2000 he brought the worst looking phisique... which was carried forward by phil the gut heath....happy to see rhoden winning in 2018...
best bb were - Arnold , haney , dorian , shawn ray , kevin levrone , flex wheeler
Tom Platz should’ve at least gotten an honorable mention
"How many people did they inspire" is basically a qualifier to further justify a high placement for ol A Schwarzenegger... an i wrong? 🙃
That statement literally changes no ones placement except Arnold. This dude is extremely biased to Arnold, if you don't agree with that you're either biased as well or new to this channel and have not seen enough of his content.
@@mohammadsufian7890 you can only put Arnold #2 if you rank it based on "people they inspire." If you drop that, like every other list, Arnold should realistically rank around #5.
Making a video like this is very challenging. I think you did a good job as always. I could add others but I won't.... who was better Larry bird or magic Johnson ?
How could Arnold Schwarzenegger be number two with two of his wins are fake and given to him so he really has four or five Olympia's. Right???
Your intro is so enoying...but your content is so good and i like how you speak.
Buta Dan
Your grammar is *annoying
Good list. But like you said it’s completely objective and geared more towards what physique you like. I’d bump kevin levrone for Zane.
I would have dorian Yates before lee haney just because of the greats dorian not just beat but dominated. And he also changed the game big time
You should not include the HGH, insulin, big gut types. Which is what bodybuilding became after Haney.
Thank you. Bodybuilding died after Lee Haney years ago
Arnold is the only Mr. O where you HAVE TO place some caveats on his wins. He won one Olympia where he was the only contestant because others were disqualified due to politics and his comeback win in the 1980 is the most controversial Olympia victory in the history of the competition by a country mile. On top of all the well-known known circumstances and shenanigans of that show, he was and still is the only bodybuilder ever to compete at the Olmypia and be one of the organizers behind the scenes.
Granted, you clearly stated the criteria and you value impact/legacy and nobody comes close to Arnie there. However, in terms of pure bodybuilding (physique and accomplishments) he is definitely not in top 3, maybe even top 5.
Totally agreed what you said.
