Personally I'd prefer keeping the shiny finish so instead of the heating continue polishing with a buffing wheel till it gets a mirror finish. Stainless steel nuts won't rust so blackening/bluing is pointless Or electroplate it with Silver or nickel
@@mufon59 it's been a while huh. Also now that I look at it, does look like a nickel plate nut. I'd personally use Stainless due to all the benefits, especially because you do not want to heat even small amounts of nickel to black
@@mufon59 nah not harder, just take longer.. & stainless can still turn colors & or rust if its not good stainless.. titanium nut would be great to use.. that would be hard to grind might even want better grinding wheels
The trick is to heat it up until it just starts to glow some people say "until it becomes a cherry red" and then dip it in Canola oil until it cools down and it will give you a rust proof and black finish
now propose to someone to prove that it works
propose to your mom

Thank you Mr. Nicholas Dettman
It looks like a cybertruck

Nickel is a common Allergan
ik pretty sure that's not stainless steel

“The cybertruck of rings”
that “propose to your mom” comeback is insane
Thank you kind sir for teaching me the way 🙏🏼
Lol I love the music
I actually wear the same exact ring but unmodified because my finger is so small
I used the inside of a bearing it works well
Now all you gotta do is make another 3 and weld them together to make a 4 finger ring.
I would suggest springing the extra dollar and use stainless steel because it won't give you a rusty finger 😅
I tried heating it right after cleaning it with rubbing alcohol, don't make the same mistake...
How you made it look black?

@@CamdenBowen ohh okay. Thanks!
@@CamdenBowen isn't the process called bluing?
Or put it in a lathe Idk how to spell it but you’re project is 😎 cool
Are you Canadian by chance?
The only thing women recognize in this video is canola oil.
You make air engines
Next video: how to make a ring out of a washer
How did u measure it for your finger size
I measured the largest part of my knuckle
what are the measurements of the nut used by you
M8 hex nurs I believe they were
@@CamdenBowen M8? More like M14 or M16. M8 is really small
@@EddSjohe widened it at the start
Does it rust?
I believe he dipped it in the oil to solve that issue
Naw it’s the cyber ring
Simple?
You could also round off all but one face
Ouch?
Don't let your wife know this 😳
wait til it starts rusting
