This defense this year is loaded, 3 or 4 1st round player and another 2-3 2nd to 3rd round players on the starting roster.
Not only that but all the coaches learning the defense underneath him. They are installing the system from the source.

If our defense doesn't miss a beat and plays like last fall, look out. The offense is going to have to find itself in the first game or two (if they have time to do that with the schedule they have). A great defense like last year's will help tremendously. Go Blue!

We don't have time this year for our offense to find itself, we play Texas in game 2
I believe our defense shows out against Texas. I also believe Michigan’s offense will surprise everyone by being explosive, with have a dominate run game.
If Orji (wins QB battle) can read defenses, their run game will be scary. My guess is teams will have to play with a robber or continue to load the box, like they been doing for the last 3 seasons.
Tuttle could be the guy. He can do it all. But he’s gonna miss spring bc of surgery.
Be nice to have a huge running QB (Orji) Just demoralizing defenses whenever he sees day light.

Some great points about Lamar and BJ, both think like coordinators. Also, Lamar was personally recommended by Jesse Minter to work in this system that Wink designed. I'm feeling good about this year's defense. There will not be a large dropoff, if any at all.

Why change what is working. The defense under MacDonald and Minter was excellent. We don't need the aggressive blitzes. If that's true, I think the defense will regress and give up too many explosive plays.
Going to be HARD to replace everything Jesse Minter brings - youth, energy, his own coaching style. Would have rather Harbaugh poach someone else but here we are.
Once again this coming year, i wouldn't want to be the offensive team. Good luck to'em...Go Blue and kick ass again again and again..

Wink wasn't fired. The Giants fired special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey and offensive line coach Bobby Johnson. Then they fired outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins and defensive assistant Kevin Wilkins. That pissed Wink off so he cursed out Daboll, left, and resigned. The defense was the best unit the Giants had and tied for 1st in the NFL in turnovers created.
