- Winter Honey Lip Salve - flavored with honey, mint, and orange
Ingredients:
1/2 up olive oil (or other oil of your choosing)
1/2 ounce of beeswax
small scoop of coconut oil (this can be omitted)
a good pinch of mint and orange (you are welcome to experiment with other flavor combinations as well
2 teaspoons of honey

To clean the wax off the jar is very easy : just pour boiling water in it.
The wax will melt, then float to the top of the jar. Let the water cool down and the wax harden, then take the wax off. Voilà ! You can now wash the jar normally.
And bonus, you can also reuse the wax 👍
(This is how I clean my candle containers.)
This is also my favorite way to clean candle containers! I've found it works best if you have enough wax to make like a half inch thick disc.
Another easy way to get the wax out is putting the glass in the freezer for around half an hour to an hour. The wax will shrink a bit, so it is very easy to get it out. Sometimes you need to loosen it a bit around the corners with a butter knife, then it will simply fall out. 😊

Handheld torch from the outside of glass melts the wax and allows for continued pouring.
Also heating the glass with a torch before pouring helps all the wax pour rather than cooling on the sides of glass.
Genius! Bee keepers use this method when rendering wax.

Calendula would also be a lovely herb to infuse! It's perfect for dry chapped skin (calendula infused sweet almond oil is the base of nearly all my lip balms)

Whatever negativity is thrown at you, it seems to be the way of internet that when creative loving souls take up the challenge of sharing their art and wisdom online they get so badly attacked by sick souls. The gift of sensitivity which makes these videos so authentic and powerful, is also a vulnerability. But being vulnerable should never be equated with being weak or flawed (so often other people try to make one feel that way). It's simply another way of being and needs to be felt and expressed. I believe that making powerful art/craft, whatever your art/craft is, requires opening up to the universe in some profound mysterious way. I sometimes wonder if the attackers are in perpetual rage that they can't seem find nor feel what joyful people have, that sense of being connected to something larger than themselves. That at the heart of a bully is an extreme loneliness and dire lack of connection. Sadly there's no comfort in knowing that those attacks aren't really about you, (even as your attackers try to make it so). It's about the bullies' own black hole of neediness, and everybody (especially women) seems to get sucked in for destruction. I just hope you carry on doing what you love to do, and keep yourself grounded in the reality of both the tangible and ephemeral beauty of nature all around you, always there to hold you as soon as the false reality of the computer is turned off by the simple click of button. But then you already know that. Many blessings to you and your family.

Hello again :-) I tried your lip balm with roses instead of orange and mint and used shea butter instead of coconut oil as this is what i had on hand. How long have you had your maidenhair fern and what is your watering amd fertilizing routine? I recently got one and though I think she's doing well and happy,I would love any tips or advice to better care for her.

An herbal salve or something to reduce acne would really help me out too. I'm doing my best to keep my skin clean and wash my bedding very often because I have oily skin but my acne is still just as bad.
I feel like it would be difficult to make something universal because everybody's skin is different 😕
Is it ok to offer suggestions? I've been an Herbalist for almost 30 years and maybe I can help. Herbs for the liver, like burdock really seem to help with acne. You would take this internally to help nourish and cleanse the liver. I've seen this work really well for SO many people. You don't want to dry out your skin with astringent topical products, that causes your skin to think it then has to produce more oil and that often makes things worse.

I want to learn how to make my own salves, and at the end of March I get my first ever pay, so I can finally start getting materials to learn and eventually experiment with. But I have to ask, where did you get that beautiful glass funnel. It's so pretty and I love the stand it's on too. I would guess Etsy, but I can't find the stand there. Just a couple of funnels.

Firstly, congrats on the impending move to Seattle!! I've had friends live in the area saying they love it! Secondly, quick curiosity: does it matter the type of honey? Would manuka honey be pretty beneficial in this for say severe chapping? Or would it be better to use local honey and maybe add in some vitamin e oil?
