The Time Kansas Scored 76 Points Against Nebraska (2007)

  • On November 3, 2007 the Kansas Jayhawks demolished the Nebraska Cornhuskers, defeating them 76-39. Nebraska had no answer for an explosive Jayhawks offense led by QB Todd Reesing who threw for 354 yards and 6 touchdowns. With the win, Kansas improved to 9-0 on the season, while Nebraska fell to 4-6. This was one of the weirder blowouts in College Football history because Kansas does not have much football history, while Nebraska is one of the most historically dominant teams in College Football. Yes I know Nebraska fans say all the time that Bo Pelini was very rude and mean and said a lot of rude comments to people but in the end that doesn’t matter because in the end all that matters is if you win or lose the football game and Bo Pelini won at least 9 games in every season he was there at Nebraska so in my opinion Nebraska’s biggest mistake is firing Bo Pelini because now they have a terrible power head coach Scott Frost.

So, imagine this, a person went into a coma in the beginning of the 2007 to 2011 season, and it's your Job to explain to them what happened since 2007? Don't worry, I got you covered
2007: Michigan lost to Appalachian St, the top 5 rankings changed basically every week, Cal, Kansas, and Mizzou were all ranked in the top 4, Mizzou was #1 at one point
2008: Texas Tech at #2, Tim Tebow with John 3:16, Utah 2, at 2, Alabama good again?
2009: TCU really good? I'm sure we won't see them again, Also Boise State is #4? Alabama won it all? We surely won't see them again
2010: Ok, some on gotta take control, TCU at three, but probably should've been #2. Auburn Goes and wins. Arkansas at #8
2011: 5 teams, went to go, Nebraska, Colorado, BYU, Utah, Boise St. #1 LSU vs #2 Alabama. Then, they fought again? Ok

    • @JonesDylan874

To add to 2007: Stanford beat USC as a 41-point underdog, West Virginia lost to Pitt when it mattered most (a win would've sent WVU to the national championship game), the #2 team in the country went 2-7 at one stretch of the season, and LSU won the national title as a 2-loss team.

This is what happens when you have a really bad Nebraska team that finished with a losing record and a good (by Big 12 standards) Kansas team. In the long run, this is a team that has been the Big 12 doormat for the Big 12 for over a decade. The Jayhawks are just 11-102 in Big 12 play since this great season with four of those eleven wins coming the following season. Since, KU has failed to win more than 1 Big 12 game for 12 consecutive seasons! The Big 12 is just the 5th best conference in college football and will be about 7th after the departure of Oklahoma and Texas. I'd like to say KU may fair better among those 8 teams, but the Jayhawks can't even compete with them. Could you imagine if Kansas got an SEC invite? They couldn't even contain Vanderbilt on a regular basis! While a Kentucky vs Kansas matchup would be nice in basketball, the Wildcats would beat KU in football as if they were an FCS opponent and win by about 40-50 points regularly. Then, if they played someone like Alabama, the Tide could push 80-90 points per game on this club. I hope for the sake of the KU fanbase, Kansas can join something like the American Athletic Conference. I'm sure they'd love to have Kansas, plus the Jayhawks could actually compete with Tulane, South Florida, Temple and East Carolina and finish at least near middle of the pack in that conference.
