As an Anthropologist and history enthusiast the abandoned servants' quarters are what excite me excites ne the most. I love the parts that haven't been touched.
It is just so unbelievable how big and massive these properties are, and what it took to run them. Love seeing all the old things left behind. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us
You are such a great host, Denise. The guestroom with champagne and macarons looked so special for your friends. Hooray for the kitchens to be delivered. Once they are installed, the apartments will become a real home. The restored chandelier looks fabulous with that ceiling rose.
You are doing an amazing job in such a short period of time. Can't wait to see the servants' quarters restored, or better, totally renovated to what they've never been. Beautiful. What a treasure in old forgotten things. Some can't be used and will have to be stored carefully. Others will be amazing pieces after some care. That chandelier should never have been stored. It should have been on display anywhere in the chateau...
Those flannel baby clothes - so adorable ❤ My mother put me in clothes like that (60s baby) The wallpaper looks interesting - I would high res scan, and then you can look at using/ manipulate the colours etc. Save some and either frame/ put together for fabric. The Pethericks bought an C18th convent and found C18th wallpaper in a hidden room. V fragile so needs conserving before being scanned. Chinoiserie and flower wallpaper, hand blocked, traced in gold - magnificent! Your chandelier is lovely with the ceiling rose. Love those abstract flower lights ❤
I absolutely loved this episode, it was so fun seeing the servant's floor and the artifacts! Also, the chandelier looks beautiful! Everything is coming along so well.
Denise, the editing of this episode was excellent! The photography and music was perfect. Fascinating tour of the servants’ quarters and the attic. So many interesting things left behind that give us an idea of how they lived. The restored chandelier looks wonderful now in your treatment room. The church vestments are so well preserved! ❤️
Being a semi commercial project I‘m convinced you follow and finish your dream but for me I‘ve seen enough, thank you for sharing your chateau with us and good luck with everything, greetings from Western Australia
If only the chateau could tell us the stories of what went on in the chateau. We only could imagine!! I just love that chateau. You all are doing a great job. Lots of love from Tennessee!!
While the servants quarters may give us a somewhat grim look at their frugal lifestyles, they may have all just been so grateful for a roof over their heads in the winter and free meals. I hope their employer was kind to them. What are your plans for these rooms? I see hot and cold water has already been piped in for bathrooms, I would guess. Please get the moth resistant hanging bags and put the priests' vestments in them asap. What a lovely find. Thank you.
You are so lucky that the family kept so much stuff and left it at the chateau. What a treasure and document of history. It’s lovely to see that you are reusing things from the attic.
@@NATALIE_W_ a lot of chateaus had to sell things, including wall paneling, to pay bills. This place seems to have been able to keep their belongings and sell them all with the chateau.
Denise, ma'am the chateau is glorious! Very sweet to see Saint Joseph even without his head protecting the home from the attic garret! Incredible statue nice to find his head. The Mass vestments are so well preserved and incredible workmanship. Wonder if the women of the chateau did the needlework or Camelite nuns? If you need advice for the paper, textiles etc I have a friend that worked with me at the museum. She has been restoring our battle flags for about 25 years! She is an incredible resource person! You would love her! Some time could you talk about the Knight memorial? Who is he? Why was it erected? Just love the chateau and your dogs! God bless. Take care! Ty.
The tour of the old servant's qtrs is very bittersweet isn't it? The partition walls are so thin, and no fireplaces for warmth. Felt sorry for the children living there... hope it's not haunted 😯 Your attic finds are so interesting, Denise. The chandelier looks like it belonged right there in your treatment room, and love the modern 'papier mache' shades in the new guest room! Happy Sunday 💛
Wow! What incredible history that has been left behind..& in good hands! Looking forward to seeing the kitchen progress next week too. You are so organised and not wasting a minute in being ready for opening. Loving everything you do!
Loved that child’s bed left in the servants quarters. The place is beautifully coming to life again. But what i am most amazed in is all the work you put in designing each room. Choosing the wall colors, the wall paper, the lighting, the flooring, and 3 kitchen’s. Oh my! That took alot of work & study. Denise, you amaze me. But it is how you treat the workers & guest that come that tells me you two are going to have great success in your ventures. God bless.
❤ The Chandelier looks stunning up in your Treatment room, it's great u are bringing back to life treasures u found . Exciting times with the new Kitchens going in that make such a big difference. So many antiques to be found , the shoes 1800s u dont see many of them around now , and all the trims and fabric lovely colours . And Priests clothes amazing . Thank u for the update . ❤❤
Pieces of the story of the Chateau Begin to show up and they count the story beyond time. It's sooooo BEAUTIFUL and it evokes a time that is gone back in time. Loving to take part in this challenge and wonderous aventure!!! 🫅👸🏰⌛️⏳️🪄👑💎🪞⚔️🛡🏹
Love the untouched staff accomodation. So much history in your chateau.❤It is almost tempting to just leave it as it is..as though time stands still.Beautiful guys❤
Bonjour Denise and Brett, let me start with the servant's quarters. I felt such a sadness when you were in the baby's room, if those walls could talk, they would have a lot to say. I wonder what century the wallpaper is from, also the furniture. Those shoes and the baby jacket what a find. I can't believe how well the Vestments look. They should be preserved. All the treasure your amazing Castle holds, and what's left to be discovered. I love the chandelier and your ceiling Medallion looks beautiful. Looking forward to seeing the kitchens go in. Well done to the team. Love from N.Y.
I wonder when servants last lived in those quarters? So interesting. And the priests' vestments are a rare find. I can't believe they were left behind. Such a treasure. The baby clothes are so sweet. The chandelier in the treatment room looks lovely. Lots of activity going on.
You've both taken on a huge and exciting project. It would be wonderful to sometime hear a little more about how your interior design style is being sympathetic to the history of this most beautiful chateau including some more of the Chateau's stories. Best wishes.
Love seeing both old and new parts. So many treasures, hopefully the beautiful baby linen can be on display somewhere, behind glass maybe. Nice to see there is a pram ready for when you need one, 😜😂💖 love what you did with the ceiling rose, blends beautifully with the chandelier! xx
Maybe those outfits for the chapel could be displayed there in the future, in big frames whether under glass or plastic to protect them. Just a thought. They seem so beautifully made that it is a shame not to show them. Best wishes.
Your chateau is stunning all the treasures you have found could be turned into a little museum for you guests. The upper rooms could be turned into a wonder fairy tale space for children to come and experience an extraudenary 18th century holiday. Just an idea. Regards from South Africa.
🍃🌳. All so fascinating! Lucky you will have these videos for posterity. If you find out any more information about these servant’s quarters,(last occupied, wallpapered, etc), let us know! Love all the help, professional and otherwise, to help the progress move along so quickly….i hate watching paint dry, ha!🍃
The servants rooms are interesting and full of character.I love the Laundry the most. Its symmetrical. I would rurn it into bedroom and sleep up there.
I love the pram I wonder if it were dusted off how it would look. Could you look again at the fabric in the corner 13-13min and see if it has a print on the edge of design maker. The baby clothing could be placed beside the pram in an area for history. I saw a lot more treasures in the video that could be added. You have a cheerful working environment.Cheers everyone.
The gifts just keep coming (all those delightful treasures left in the house). Look at the old costumes. In such great condition and colour retention. Lovely. It is such a treat for us all to go through these with you :)😊❤

Thank You for the tour of servants quarters. Interesting artifacts. Your Chateau is magnificent. Love all your additions. Venus mural perfect!
I love to see those old forgotten rooms with all their small treasures in it. Everyday items from decades gone by.
It is good that you kept the historical portion of the Cheteau just as it in truthful History.

Just looking at the first couple of minutes, I have to wonder how on earth do you even wash all those floors? A mundane thought, but reality!
What you call the laundry room is probably not a laundry room ( no water, no wringer ..) which was usualy either on the ground floor or the basement, but rather a sawing room. Where linens were ironed, startched, where clothes ans anything textile was taken care of, including drapes, carpets etc.

renovating them and using them in the future for private living quarters for the family
You are an hour and a half from me in France. I hadn't realised that.
I believe they are called "vestments.""
You said Laundry room but to me it's more sewing. I saw no vats for water nor removal of said water. Perhaps laundry brought up to drip dry.? wouldn't that have damaged floor year after year? looks like wood not tile.
Quite right, there are old laundry facilities in the out buildings!
Boiler, well and wash troughs !
We will have to explore that in another episode!
They certainly used the room to iron and mend clothes as well as dry
The infants wing. Servants would not have had such quality wall paper in their rooms, the children would be kept close to the laundry until they were potty trained. Have you been able to read any of the housekeeping books yet?
All of the books are in the old managers office in the main outbuilding which is hard to access !
We will though
