    12 frets sound so good. I like this guitar it's very crisp and balanced. I just ordered an AP66shb but would love this to go along with it.

    I have a Yairi DYMR70SB, it's this same model, but completely hand made in Kani, in the hills north of Nagoya Japan , at Yairi's shop. It's made with East Indian rosewood that has been aged for 15 years, before being used. It is a 12 fret, with ebony bridge pins, ebony(Direct Coupled) bridge, ebony fretboard, and Gotoh 510 open gear tuners, with ebony buttons and a slotted headstock. I've owned A LOT of high end acoustic guitars. THIS guitar is my number 1 acoustic. The tone, the overtones, the projection, the balance and the sustain, the note separation, are better then ANY other guitar I've ever played or owned.

    Hi Ben, I love listening to your playing. I drove up from Cornwall to buy this guitar on Thursday. I am absolutely thrilled with the tone of this guitar. My favorite guitar is my Yamaha A3R. I have a bad shoulder to I tend to play my Yamaha CSF3M most of the time. This is so comfortable to play and I have to admit that I prefer the tone of this guitar over my Yamaha, which I never thought I would do. I bought this on the strength of you playing on the Anderton RUclips, so I'm sorry I didn't use your link. Kind regards Terry. You're a great player. 👍

      I'm aching to get one of these also and this vid probably pushed me over the edge. Unfortunately I cannot try first hand and would like to compare this to the 14 fret dreadnought version. But the gas for this particular one is great. I just may pull the trigger.

      @@powell.christopher It's a great Dreadnaught for sure! This is probably my favourite of their range, apart from possibly the more expensive Laureate range, but it's
      close. ;-)

    Beautifully played, I just received mine 8 days ago and I am astounded by the craftsmanship. It is an amazing instrument I’m 68 started playing at 12 so I’ve played and owned a few great guitars in my time and this guitar is overall the best guitar I now own. Please do a deeper dive at some point unless you already have.

    That opening drop-d piece was beautiful, the peaceful sigh at the end was exactly how I was feeling. I found this because I'm looking at this guitar and the DYMR70SB Alvarez Yairi version of it and trying to decide if the Yairi is worth 3 times the price. The jury is still out, but after listening to your video, I'm leaning toward the MDR70SB.

    • @bensmithguitar
      @bensmithguitar  2 года назад +2

      Thanks! The thing that makes the biggest difference with comfort is the 12th fret neck join, as it brings the fretboard a little further into the body, so it's not so much of a stretch!

    Oh no!!! Another demo of an Alvarez guitar done in open tuning. Drop D, this time... Doesn't anyone play these in standard tuning? ANY guitar sounds better in open tuning. I guess I didn't wait long enough. Did you notice the difference?

    • @bobaldo2339
      @bobaldo2339 Год назад +1

      Yes, any guitar sounds better in open tuning, or with a capo up the neck. It's hard to take any such "demo" of the particular guitar seriously - unless you are looking for a guitar to use in that same open tuning.

    Nice video Ben, great sounding guitar. I just picked up a second-hand Alvarez Blues51 12-fret, which would be the parlor version of this, albeit with laminate rosewood back and sides. Been looking for one for ages. Would love a Martin 00-15sm 12-fret but bloody hell they're pricey! Nice Auden guitar btw too

    • @deejay.s
      @deejay.s 2 года назад +1

      Usually, Alvarez guitars with a "Y" in the name are Yairi. Those are handmade in Japan, no compromise. This one, MDR70SB, is made in China/Indonesia. Hope that helps!
