Great video! I'm a wood worker that recently got burned by the Fusion360 changes. I'm done with proprietary software so switched to FreeCAD. These tutorials are exactly what I was looking for! A couple of minor nits that gave me pause 1. To rotate the view, hold middle mouse and left or right mouse button and slide. 2. When selecting objects for the cut step, you must ctrl click each object, not shift click them. If you shift click, cut is greyed out.
bro, plz you continue video tutorial on Freecad, i am also a freecad user and have started learning Freecad. It will bettter if you make video on every workbench specifically. Thanks for your efforts. God bless
@@WayofWood yes, i have watched your other video in the video playlist, i thing you are doing well us. Plz try to make video tutorial on the fundamental Knowledge of every workbench tools. Actually i am familiar with part design workbench but not more with other workbench. Thanks
When designing furniture, it becomes necessary to install fittings for subsequent marking of the additive. Make a video about where to get ready-made models of fittings or how to make them yourself, and how to put fittings in a parametric model?
Hi, first of all thank you for this excellent tutorial. Even though you didn't ask for feedback, I'll provide some after following along the tutorial ;-) 1. Sometimes you say "and we do thing X", but it is not clear if this is up to me to figure out what to do, or if this happens if I press the same buttons you do 2. Sometimes the progress is too fast, you rotate the view, etc... but do not explain what you are doing or what basics I need to understand what you are doing (reference to previous videos?) 3. I re-watched the part with the rods for structural integrity 5 or 6 times and had problems spotting what you did. Did you modify the position off-screen? I got the position from pausing the video at the right spot and applying the position settings you showed Thanks again for this tutorial series, I'm a hobby woodworker and linux enthusiast (for home use and professional use) and very happy that I finally got an idea how to draw my plans in open source software.
Josef Seibl Thanks for the feedback. The cad file is also available at Thingiverse so you can open my version of the model and compare it with yours. For the structural elements it might be that they are too low in the version shown in the video. I have to double check.
Great video. I however did not quite reach the complete nirvana, as for me the Fusion action created a group of cylinders that still look distinct, not merged ;/
Thanks, you have a different approach for design than the books by Tutorial Books. (Their Learn by Doing book is ok, but the Basics is just rote recipes with no explanations and a bunch of errors). Hope you cover carpentry methods such as a simple doghouse or even birdhouse.
Great tutorial ! I saw you have titled this video n°1 ... i presume you will make a serie about free cad then? I would love it since i'd like to learn an alternative to fusion for when they will change their users policy again ..... I wanted to ask you for some time now if there is any way i could support you and ur channel since you haven't a patreon page .... let me know ;)
ItSeemsDark Yes there will be a series covering different aspects of FreeCAD. It will take a while to create the different tutorials as I also want to post some build videos in between. Also thanks a lot for offering support - at the moment providing feedback and constructive criticism is what helps me the most. 😏

Very good tutorial. I found it easy to follow. Thank you.

Have a look at the other tutorial and let me know what would be most interesting for you.

Good question. But I don't think there is a ready-to-use fitting library. If you model them yourself it's just another part to add to your assembly.

Go to edit - clipping plane to have a look inside the part to see if the fusion worked.
