  • Children-students were bought 1.5 bedding for their dorm. Fabric - calico, soft, high quality, 100% cotton. Now they don’t need it, they brought home 2 duvet covers, a sheet and 3 pillowcases 70x70. All that's left.
Don't let the goodness go to waste, I'll make a double set of bed linen from all this.
    1) First, I ripped apart two duvet covers. It turned out 4 canvases.
    2) I sewed a sheet measuring 190 x 250 cm from 2 parts. This is for a bed with a mattress 140 x 200 cm.
190 cm on the sheets is the width. It will descend from 2 sides of the bed by 25 cm.
250 cm is the length of the sheet. 25 cm will be tucked under the mattress.
    3) For the blanket I sewed 2 parts of the duvet cover. I cut out the top part of the blanket measuring 205 x 175 cm. For the bottom part I used white calico from my supplies.
    4) I placed a padding polyester in the middle. It is 150 cm wide; I sewed on the missing centimeters by hand.
    5) All 3 layers straightened. I drew parallel lines diagonally every 20 cm. I used a pen that disappears under the influence of temperature, as soon as you bring the iron to the line it immediately disappears.
    6) I basted each line. Some needlewomen pin the seams with pins, but I can’t do that, everything moves. It’s better to spend an hour sweeping, but everything will be smooth.
    7) I set up a large decorative zigzag stitch on the machine.
Important! Sew all lines in the same direction. If you start stitching diagonally from top to bottom, continue until the end. When you sew the last lines, the blanket must be rolled up well so that it fits inside the machine.
    8) I sewed the lines that go across. There is no need to sweep here, just draw lines.
    9) I used a sheet to finish the edges of the blanket. I cut strips 7 cm wide, placed them on the back side of the blanket, stitched them and turned them right side out.
    Corners.
    10) In the corner, the strip was bent at an angle of 45 degrees and stitched to this diagonal. I interrupted the line. I folded the strip again this way.
    11) Continued the line on the other side of the blanket, from the place where the first line ended.
When you then turn the strip inside out, you get a neat corner on the front side.
    The blanket is ready.
    12) Pillowcases 70x70 cm were altered to 50x70 cm.
The result is a new double set. The children came and took him back.
    All the best!
