Was lucky enough to see this band 3 times. First time in 1976 opening for Johnny Winter at one of the great unknown venues in SoCal, the Starlight Amphitheater( saw Jeff Beck there also ) and two nights in a row at the Roxy in 1979. Roxy shows sat right in front of Colin Cooper and his balls out tenor sax. Aah, great memories !!!!

Fuck yes... pure funk, rhythm and class.. Haycock was always criminally underrated.. I'm 37 now (2023) since I was 10 I've always known CBB was something special.. and I will always promote them to whoever asks me my taste.. il say "have you met the climax blues band, then it's about time" 🙏❤️

Saw them in 1975 when I was in college. Stamp Album tour, and they were opening for Bachman Turner Overdrive. Had never heard of them before - like most of the crowd I was there to see BTO - and they absolutely blew me away. Were called back on stage for two encores - they were the opening act, mind you - and these were not the planned encores where a band doesn't play a crowd favorite in the main set. They played "Going to New York", and then seemed a bit surprised but very happy when the audience just wouldn't let them leave.

It's great to find more CBB fans like me. Thanks for posting this video. I once did a podcast about the Real to Reel album, one of my favorites. In the OGWT part they're dubbing, right?

It's the best of them. "Standing by a river" is my favorite funky song by them. I would love to see a video of them playing it live.

Great band; too bad they sold out in '81 with "I Love You."

Hey John, friend of Derek's here, "I love you" wasn't a sell out, just a song Derek came up with at the time and it hit the charts. Nothing more, nothing less. As he tells the story, he wasn't "trying" or being "told" by management to write a pop hit, it just happened.

And, it's a great song! My Mimi always told me; "if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all."! She gave that first one to you for free. The next one, she washed your mouth out with soap. "I Love You" was, and is, a terrific song. And I if it's not for you, turn the volume or tuner knob. The simplest thing ever!
