Now THIS is the kind of tutorial I was looking for! Too many tutorials are made for those who are already familiar with digital soundboards and for old school techs, like myself, it was all gibberish. When you explain what these features do, it makes it MUCH easier to learn, especially when you're dealing with analytical minds where if something is missing, nothing makes sense. THANK YOU!!!
Huge fan of your, I learned about yamaha mg 20xu mixer and successfully handled many large events. Now I am also moving to digital. I know and trust you that even if you teach me heart surgery I can learn that, I have never seen such good teacher like you . Hearty thank you sir you are great you teach each and everything so clearly that straightly set in my mind. Thank alot. For doing this.
Thank you! I just joined a church that has purchased this board, a few months ago, and no one knows how to use it. I'm like Paul - used to an analog board. Today, I was able to help with the EQ, to help stop feedback and get things to sound a bit better because all of the EQs were flat-lined, at zero. The retailer made a sale and gave no assistance in calibrating the system - just installed it. I think it was a set up, because any visits, after a certain time has passed, usually means a "paid service call!" Finding your videos will help me appear to look smarter than I am about this board! You guys are also - Hilarious!
That sounds like a bad situation - however remember that the onus is on the customer to ensure that they are getting what they need in terms of training, system tuning etc. It will cost more for sure but it needs to be part of every good installation job.
The Pastor made the purchase and placed a member in charge, technically. Both are less than novice to realize that proper training and tuning should have taken place.
Thanks for posting this video. I had a setup gig for a school musical last week. They wanted me to come in an program the new Soundcraft SI Performer which I had never used before. I watched the first 15 minutes of this video and that paired with my knowledge of other digital mixers Midas, Avid, Yamaha etc I managed to program the 47 cues for the show with no problem. Since I am a Midas Pro 2 guy it took me a couple of minutes to get the different levels for storing, but once over that bridge nothing to it thanks to your video. Thank You again for making it. Yes I am an old analog guy who grew up in the 70's with Yamaha, Allen & Heath and Soundcraft. How times of changed.
I've watched a good chunk of your videos and I just gotta tell you I am so glad that you've been making content. I've learned so much and it's helping me for my own knowledge and my career. Keep it up Bruno!!!!
This exactly the same we are using in the church. I really find the gain sensitivity unusual. Its not that sensitive from minimum up until you get to 12o clock. Then the next click up its a really big of db. The gain can really be fully open like 3 o clock sometimes and can get a decent signal.
Yes this is where it is really useful to have an actual numerical readout of the gain in dB so that you can match settings from one channel to the next.
Andreev Andrei You're welcome, thanks for watching. It's getting to the point now where the user interface on digital consoles is beginning to standardise, although there are still major visual differences between manufacturers.

@@GLBProductions Now that would be frustrating indeed. Also on the topic of the Si series, I heard it is nearing end of life. Do you think Soundcraft will release a new Si board?
Thanks a bunch for your very educational video on the Compact. My school has just received the newer Impact and for someone who has only run analog your video has been extremely helpful. I hope you can help with what I'm sure is a very simple question. I'm running a theatrical production using backing tracks and want to control the volume going to the monitors...can't figure how to isolate this one thing. The Impact seems very close to your Compact but has even less dials and buttons...thanks!
+Richard Mynderup Hello Richard, thanks for getting in touch. Monitors should be controlled the same way as on the mixer in the video: press the appropriate bus button and then use the channel faders and on/off buttons to choose which channels are routed to that monitor. Have you tried this?
hoang tieu Thanks - when it comes to XLR cables there is no difference between mic and line level cabling, and they are interchangeable. On some very old loudspeaker systems they used XLR connectors for speaker cabling, but those are obsolete today.
Hi there. We are planning to get an SI Impact console for my church and i'm the person operates the sound there, can yu do a tutorial on the Si impact please? We are getting our board maybe nextweek
If you are buying a new mixer get the company who is selling it to you to arrange a training session with one of their product specialists - this type of learning is much better done in person with a real trainer.
+dreferd silveira You're welcome, glad the videos have been helpful. Please watch this video on the Presonus ACP88 for more info on how a gate works: ruclips.net/video/jMajPBeAGbw/видео.html
wooooooooooooooow it's really so so so nice and i like that i hope u make anther Training in this maxir again it's have more think it's not learning it :) good job and keep going man :)
Amazing video Bruno. Was audio being passed through the console when this training took place? I'm asking because I saw the channel meters light up a couple times. Thank you for this amazing piece of information.
MinecraftReviews1 Thanks for getting in touch. The majority of the audio was recorded with the on-camera microphone, but there was a mic plugged into the console which was used several times, especially while I was demonstrating the EQ section.
+Nunya It depends on who you speak to - for actors it refers to the area where the audience sits, for sound engineers to mix front of house is as distinct from mixing monitors. Paul however started doing sound in the UK in the 1980s so his understanding of these terms is different again ;)
Sir mixer is good your training best but I am one Doug's :- mgp 32 sound recording detect clear sound pen drive in recorded but sound craft digital mixer not direct record midi card I am kanfuse please tell me what I am?
How different is the Soundcraft Si compact from the newer Soundcraft Si Expression 1? Question two is are there parts of the training videos that are "interchangeable?" Hope this question makes sense. I guess I'm asking since the Compact isn't made anymore, can any of the training video be helpful in addition to the training video for the Si 1?
Hi Bruno, how are you doing, may i ask you quick question, microphone and line cable what is different. Can i use microphone cable hook up to line. Also i have canare cable xlr it is fine to hook up to active speaker to my mixer. thanks against.
I have one wireless mic and every Sunday I have different solo singer using it. they have different gain and EQ setup. sometimes we have to change solo unexpected. we don't have lot of time before mass. I'm using Soundcraft MFi and I really like it. I'm looking for a mixer can remember setting for each singer so any time one singer sing I just chose setting for that singer. can this Mixer can do that? Thanks
+Trực Chính You cannot recall settings for just one channel - you would need to create one scene or preset for each singer and recall that scene when the singer goes up. This would also affect all the other channels on the mixer unless you made them recall safe.
+Robins Live That stands for sidechain Low and High pass filters - it's a way to adjust the frequency response of the gate so that it is only sensitive to certain frequencies. For example if you are gating a high hat you can use these filters to tune the gate such that it ignores the lower frequency sounds from the snare drum and only reacts to the higher frequencies from the high hat.
Ok sir George I will see. But in that mixer giving lexicon effects with bank a and bank b these effects I not understand during live program so that's why I am operating my old Studio master mixer if you will about that lexicon processor I will a great thanksfull to you.
Sure, just press the mix button, then go to the layer that has your effects returns (these are on layer B by default) and then raise the fader for the effect return that you want to send to that mix. The effects returns have blue fader glow to show you which ones they are.

Funny how some of the sound techs I've met are also colorblind like Paul, and lighting techs are often hard of hearing!
As long as it's not the other way around!
@@GLBProductions Now that would be frustrating indeed. Also on the topic of the Si series, I heard it is nearing end of life. Do you think Soundcraft will release a new Si board?

Hello Bruno, great video. Please do you have any video that talks one through the master section of the analogue Sound craft Spirit Live 4/2 mixer?

Is there a side chain compression option in Si Impact or expression? For say I need to side chain the bass with kick!
There probably is but I no longer have access to this mixer to confirm that.
I can only assume that Front of House (FOH) has a different meaning in your country than it does in the professional audio world of the US?
