The NOSE is a very special and desired part of KG's I felt like every detail was done EXCEPT the nose. Just glanced over the black tape or whatever inside i just would've liked magnets out front and a level on the nose to see if its original.

I own a 1970 KG Vert also. The owner purchased car new, but was drafted to Nam,and dealer took it back. The 2nd owner was a Dentist's wife in Erie, PA, Because her husband had some type of 2 seater. She only drove the car in the summer on sunny days, and was garage kept every day. Was not her primary car at all. Sad to say she passed away from cancer, and her Husband wanted the car gone. I prchased it and has been in my climate controlled building for past 12 years. The engine was stolen from a VW repair shop in Nashville, so I'm replacing with the best rebuilt engine possible. It will all be first class as it gets. Love the car but will sell it after a while of driving. Have 20 other cars I've restored and can not keep them all. Great car. Love the VW and this one is the best IMO.

69 1st year for the IRS which made it nice , last year for the small tailights and bullet front turn signals . I think this is the best year for the Karmann Ghia . I have owned three of them I used to work on them in a V W shop and would like to have another one now . I have been looking . This car looks to be a nice one .

You would be better served if an actual classic VW owner/expert did this appraisal. This is a standard form that applies to every vehicle from a visual perspective in detail. Detail. One example is I doubt the handles of a car can be determined by visual look of the outside if OE or replacements. There are a lot of assumptions made as to previous work techniques.
Reminds me of a home inspection made for a 60 year old brick Tutor home I was purchasing. Every area inspected from roof to HVAC was checked as Replacement AGE.

The undercoating to the pans was done a while back--since it did not adhere well, moisture and dirt got under it and rust has begun. Note also, that the wheel wells, which should be painted the color of the vehicle, are freshly undercoated. What's being covered-up there? I never recommend undercoatings. They are a nightmare waiting to happen--or they cover poor repairs and/or rust.

You did an excellent technical evaluation- thank you and I have subscribed on that basis. But if I were the prospective buyer, I'd have had you put the car through its paces. You drove it remarkably tenderly. You never went over 45 nor take it on the highway. How does the car behave at speed? And how strong does the engine feel to you? And how are the brakes at realistic speeds- and how do they react in an emergency? For safety's sake, that should be a given. The K.G. is a sports car that fails on power, not handling: so, how does it corner other than at stop signs and red lights? You never really took a corner. Seriously- you can't certify this a safe car. It really was not driven. I very much respect your technical work and hope there are no surprises for the guy who buys it.

Rockers have bondo repaired rust. the bottom edge is too thick and the spot welds are covered. Dead give-away are the two vertical seams below the door, bounding the rocker panel. You can easily see where the filler has been cut and feathered. Indicative of rust repair.

Excellent inspection review. I watched it from end to end. Just wish you would have announced the asking price or appraised value. Looks like $10,000 to me, possibly $12,000.

is the potential buyer willing to post what the car appraised for? I am also a collector of rust free,, undamaged Karmann ghia convertibles . My strategy is to allow the classic car market recover from the past 7 years, then begin to increase in value. Coulld be wrong, they are not making any more of them. Not the cars that have been kept rust free.

Excellent technical evaluation- but if I were the buyer, I'd have asked you to put the car through its paces. How do you know that the brakes could stop it at real-life speeds? You never went over 45 or take it on a highway. You didn't test the brakes for how they would respond at speed or in an emergency. You did not perform a single tight radius turn. This is a sports car- K.G.'s fail on power, not handling. How can you certify it safe if you never actually cornered it other than at a stop light? But your technical evaluation(except for your not going into the wild wiring) was excellent. I'd bring my MR2 to you to examine- but you need to drive this baby, or you can expect to be hearing from a surprised owner's mouthpiece.

A revived rust-bucket. Generator instead of alternator (gee, thanks). All the outer glam will never undo the lurking rust.
