This is a prime example of her musicianship. She took control from the beginning and wanted her "B flat!". I am so glad that these performances are around for us to see.
When the Queen says b flat she means b flat dang!!! People that don’t sing don’t realize when those musicians don’t act right it pisses you all the way off 😭
A natural born singer!!! It’s always great to come upon hidden treasures like this of The Queen!!! Aretha’s voice is without peer. Long live the legacy of The Queen of Soul!!👸🏽
Wow! She was always so confident and so competent in front of that microphone. I don't think I've ever heard her sound nervous or intimidated while singing.
Greatest of all time. It has never been in question. It's the TIMING! How she's jamming along, her own way, and phrasing her finish without even the slightest effort to find her spot. That's what leaves the others behind. The musicality is unmatched. Ella is her only peer
Is that Mike Douglas back there jamming to the Queen and said in the beginning, “Tear it up, Aretha, tear it up”? Didn’t know Mike was hip like that! 🤣
I hope somehow somewhere there are at least audio recordings of her performing in concert somewhere. Aretha spent 7 years with Columbia. It would be a treat to hear Columbia Aretha in concert.
She gained control immediately and my gooodness. This don’t make no sense. I am floored. Years ago, i heard Tina Marie talk about Aretha’s voice and she described her as “ that voice” in the most reverential way showing extreme admiration.
Aretha was the best pre-Respect. I LOVE her earlier songs, especially the Columbia years. Songs like I can't wait until i see my baby's face / Losing You / Running out of Fools / I surrender, dear. These were beautiful soul songs. Don't get me wrong Respect is a great song and made her a global icon, but personally the older songs do it for me more.

The piano player had the song in the wrong key. She wanted it in B flat. I'm sure the piano player knew that in advance but just did not do it. She still maintained her composure and nailed the song..
@@vm7497 , Yep the piano player was in the wrong key and you could see the frustration on Aretha`s face while she kept repeating "B flat B flat "....and she still totally nailed the song .

Yes!
Because she is the Queen of soul.
She was singing in front of an audience since she was a Child so she was yet used to do it.
A girl of 22 and such a voice out of this Earth - Super star
Lady not a girl cause Ms Franklin is past 16
But I understand what you mena

its cute but she was trying to establish the rhythm and he was snapping out of time
This is an example of why she was the Queen. Still love her!
Yes.
Always fascinating to see live footage of the Queen in the Columbia era.

Aretha can sing the ABC'S why don't you!!! Almost took Bill Bailey to church!!!
The Columbia records era is elite. Vocally top tier! Not one bad album.
True. sadly they stuck her with poor material. she knew better they didn't listen
And the Queen Of Soul, is still and always will be, the Queen Of Soul.
I held my breath the whole time …. Aretha is a miracle worker
Don't make no sense. She was taking it to CHUUUUUUUUUUUCCCHH 😁
That's why we have an Aretha Franklin Expressway where I live. Composer Hughie Cannon is also a Detroit native!
SANG, gurl!
Is the queen directing the band in the beginning? 😂
Mama said B-Flat, B FLAT, B FLAT!!! 😂 She wasn't playing with them
Ouch this is too good. She is in her element here. Love always for this Queen.
B flat B flat she always been a perfectionist I love everything about this she was born ready
That was incredible, what a vocal gift ... Nobody can duplicate the sound of Aretha !
I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!! She came in how she wanted it....
Natural talented Aretha, pre-cursor to her Atlantic fame. She had the gift.
Love Aretha Franklin ❤️ love to hear her sing jazz❤❤😊

Ladies and gentlemen the queen of music Ms. Aretha Louise Franklin !
Only the Queen 👸 🙏 RIP 🌹 💐 🏵
She tore that up!!!
Wow!!! She nailed it:)
LORD have mercy; she was a star before she was a star. IF only she had stopped smoking so much she would have stayed fine and a great singer.
Even though Pearl Bailey sings, sings, sings this song the best to me🥰Aretha sang it😉🥰❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚
Thank you Mike Douglas for hosting the young queen.
PURE ! UNADULTERATED…. IT DOESNT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT

Those guys trying to clap on the ones and threes
Influenced by the Bobby Darin's version ?
Aretha Franklin at the start was sayin B-Flat what does that mean?
It's the key she wanted for the song. A singer has to chose the right key for the song otherwise he/she may not be able to reach the notes.
sis meant that! they won’t playing fast enough, nor in the right key 😂
