This is what the Apple Vision Pro can do in your music studio. I tested screen mirroring, the new Moog synth, iPad apps that run on Vision Pro, and other tools that make the Apple Vision Pro useful around your studio. In this video I talk about the pros and cons of the Vision Pro in music production today and what promises it may bring in the future.

I’ll stick to using my 40” flat screen as a monitor, it cost far less isn’t reliant on updates, and isn’t at risk of becoming obsolete when a newer shinier version is released in the future!
Precisely!.. cause if they going to release one a year or biyearly, it won't be worth the price, as it will be old, before you know it.
I feel all of this is a kind of distraction and you are more attracted to gear not music
Totally, but you gotta remember this channel is dedicated to advertising for new gear.
@@AlchemicalAudio yeah i know that and i love new gear is just things like these are way overkill that it just take away something from the art and also Sanjay and Dharti are some of my favourite people/youtubers they are just so fun and entertaining
Definitely you are right 😢
What is distraction to you is Focus for someone else. We all are different and we don’t look at things the same way. You can only say it is a distraction for you but not for others because you and nobody share the same experiences. I have the Vision Pro and it is a complete focus for me. I love it. I can’t wait for more developers to come up with some great apps.
@@APU658 yeah we are not same i agree
Love this. Thank you Sanjay C for being on top of this new tech and taking it to the musician brain. You really show the promise nad hte speed bumps. 👏
You bring us the latest and best! Thank you for the demo of the Apple Vision Pro, Sanjay C. That was awesome! What a ride!
Looks interesting, It's still early days with actual Minority Report gestures.
Hey Clive! Yes, and honestly, I didn't really feel much like Tom Cruise wearing this thing.
@@SanjayC I’m sure Dharti would disagree, You’d make a much better Tom Cruise in Minority Report 2 , wearing version 2 of Apple Vision Pro😁
@@SanjayC 😂😂
What a great rundown on the possibilities Sanjay! Thanks for covering this 🔥
Yesssss. Been waiting for someone to do this
When it's a tenth of the price, half the weight, 5x the battery life and works cross platform...then I'm interested
Same!
@@SanjayC Behringer FTW ! Just watch...
The Meta Quest 3 came out a few months ago and does the same. I used the remote desktop in the Steam Link app (no pass-through but you can control the mouse) and Meta's remote app (works with pass-through but just as with the Vision Pro you have no control). Personally I did not yet try that app, but I think the best app for it right now would be Virtual Desktop. I just checked and it looks like it runs on Windows and Mac and it has pass-through AND control over the desktop.
It's not a tenth but at least just a seventh of the price.
I don't think it's half the weight but it's a lot lighter.
It's battery life is also very short but there are still some advantages. The battery doesn't dangle around on a cable and is inside of the device. There's also a third-party headstrap (BoboVR S3/M3 Pro) that has an additional battery on the back of your head you can replace on-the-fly for virtually infinite battery life. Of course that adds more weight but it's less weight to begin with. You could also just use an external power bank and connect it to the charging port and do it Vision Pro style. But I think you can also connect a power bank to the Vision Pro's battery which then can be replaced without turning off the Vision Pro. But then you're walking around with two batteries in your pocket.
I think in the end, the Vision Pro will be the best marketing campaign for the Meta Quest. A lot of people only learn about it thanks to Apple releasing something that basically just does the same thing but costs much more.
I was waiting for this review. Thank you. I will pass it for now.
Fun demo. Thanks, Sanjay!
I am currently watching this on the Apple Vision Pro
Haha!! That’s the best way to do it!
Only Sanjay C can do this for us music producers around the world! We're thankful for this content Sanjay🙌
Can't
I appreciate that. It was fun to give it a try with music for sure
@rionvalet I totally agree.👍🏾
There’s an app for the Quest called Immersed that allows remote controlling a Mac and creating multiple virtual monitors. And Immersed is releasing their own headset as well. There’s pros and cons to them all, but for me… I think I’m keeping my Quest for gaming, and I’ll probably get the Immersed headset for productivity with my Mac. Then I expect I’ll get a future iteration of the Vision once it is more mature.
Funny! I was wondering about the potential of adding AR in studio, today! Then you release this video! Great! Thanks! Best from Belgium!
This is so the hotness. Appreciate the clarification for producers.
Pretty compelling demo, SC. wondering if making screen huge then working with multiple windows within limitations-ie-Ableton vert and horz modes sonde by side / plugin windows etc? Is the landscape of the open window scalable to accommodate more windows in apps like Ableton or premier?
I actually used mine last week to make an educational recording for one of my students connecting to my MacBook running Logic Pro with forScore displaying my sheet music on the MacBook screen as well. I also used the Logic Remote on my phone. It was crazy reading the music and running Logic Pro on a 6 foot tall screen. The workflow was a little slower since I wasn’t used to it yet. The depth perception when I tried putting my saxophone mouthpiece in my mouth was funky. I ended up jabbing myself in the lower lip with it. I’m hoping for more hand gestures and, yes, controlling my laptop screen with eye tracking and gestures.
this is cool i want to see what they will do in the future especially for music producers
Positioning windows above things, while still having a view of the space, was already very possible to do before the AVP came along with the Meta Quest 3, which also allows you to have several open windows at the same time.
Nice futuristic studio Sanjay
Haha! We are trying!
Hi Sanjay C pls I just started music production and I have no idea of playing the keyboard do I go for an ordinary keyboard for learning or the one for music production?
Awesome & Thanks :)
What iPad holder are you using on the Osmose
Thanks for the review/demo. I agree, I don't think this is it, for music production...yet
Cool. Will obviously improve with time
if the ios controller app is available on apple vision, then maybe you can use the controller app in the vision pro and use the gestures for recording etc.
Thank you so much for this! I'm very interested in using Vision Pro as part of my mobile rig. I score fast moving action cartoons in Pro Tools and need pretty spot on playback. . Do you see latency being an issue using Vision Pro? Thank you and great video.......!!
I didn't notice any latency when I did the same for 1/7 of the price with the Meta Quest 3.
Imagine running real time karaoke with the headset when singing or playing songs that you are not too familiar with the chord changes
I like that...they just need to make them look like sunglasses...then I'll do the next song!
Sad as it may be, this is the most inspirational video I’ve seen in 2024. Music, dialogue, production - so well done.
4:00 what a jam
Very cool. I'll get the next version
Exactly! :-) Thanks for the Super Thanks, my friend!
Just thinking about the spatial computing aspect... what if with your hardware gear you could simply touch a knob or slider and the Vision Pro screen will give you a tip on what it's for (when getting used to a synth) or the current value, or secondary function etc.
Another instance could be gear that normally contains lots of menu diving actually gets flattened out on a screen that you lock directly above the gear in question... almost like having a monitor dedicated to that one piece of gear... and you can setup multiple sets of these screens above every bit of gear you have, that stays there always.
it would make sense to use the ableton push3 controller to control ableton.... afterall it has full integration surely
Can you use the mirroring with a mac pro or studio computer? Or only with a Mac book?
I think something that isn’t realized yet will be object based sound placement in Dolby Atmos. Having a virtual space realized with the ability to drag an object marker around in a virtual room space translate to object based placement and movement in a mix would be incredibly useful. You could change the angle of the view in the room so you can truly get the best placement and then have that track sound in your Atmos set up while you are working on it in VR or AR so you can really hear the changes in realtime. You could zoom in and out of the virtual room so get more fine placement or more general placement and then run your track and see all the object markers in your mix move around the room so you can see how “Active” your mix is. Could translate to movie mixing techniques as well. Or vise versa.
Hope they make a Logic Vision Pro and add undockable screens and spatial controllers. On another note also the ability to stream the audio from your macbook into the headset, right now you have to pair airpods to your macbook or just keep using your studio monitors.
Great video , question , how did you play guitar without triggering the scroll gesture ? Apparently, how I hold my pick is exactly how I scroll 😂
Hellow, where did you get your desk?
Good to know and sad to know can’t wait to see how far they improve the interaction
Can’t you use that controller app that you have running on your iPad running native on the Vision Pro as an ‘iPad’ app in a window? Or are there no currently compatible apps? Although I thought you could run most iPad apps on the Vision Pro?
This is so good that I cant wait for a video using an actually good daw (FL)
LOL 😂
You can't use the AVP eye navigation on the mirrored Mac screen because the design conventions for MacOS don't produce touch targets large enough to consistently resolve with eye tracking. It's the same reason that you can't use touch control on a Mac screen that's mirrored to your iPad using Sidecar - but you *can* use an Apple Pencil, which is fine enough to resolve adequately for MacOS. Apple is pretty clear that different OSes are fundamentally tied to their input paradigms, and they're rigorous about not crossing over.
Would be cool if you could overlay different virtual controllers onto standard 49, 61 or 88 keybeds
Hey sanjay! Can u share the link to the app of dock station? I can't find it lol
What is that mount for the iPad?
Did you try using the logic remote/ableton remote ipad app in the headset?
That may or may not be better than having the real ipad...
Great video Sanjay!! (I've been wondering about it, using them with my DAW; AVP seems its still on diapers)
3:53 Let Sanjay C, the C stands for cook🔥🔥🔥
If amything, I would use it if there were virtual control rooms, where you can mix and master in, by using your hands and fingers to move faders, knobs, etc... of course the sound would need pro headphones.
Also, spatial mixing could be a nice thing. Having the instruments as color blobs, you can form in any dimension.
how are the built in headphones of the vision pro ?
Vision Pro is so cool!
Yeah for sure..especially that dinosaur!
@@SanjayChaha yessssss! 😮
What happened to your S88 mk3?
Look forward to Logic gaining gestures with Vision Pro sort of in parallel with Keyboard commands. I would be highly surprised if Apple haven't already been working on this. Other DAWs will follow suit if this method of interaction catches on.
Of course this is dependent on the price of the Vision Pro. or subsequent versions becoming more affordable.
I would go for this in a heartbeat, if i could justify the expense of the VP setup. But I can't.
Yet!
you could have bought a Nord piano 5 or a Juno 60 or around 10 to 15 small 27b key synthesizer instead of that thing cause just buy the meta quest 3 as it is lighter and cheap and can connect with pc and windows and has built in games so yeah and also what about bengaluru?
Not a good purchase
I guess he's an "Apple ecosystem person" (aka fanboy) and doesn't even know the Quest exists. At least that would explain why he thinks this wasn't possible before. And if you know the Quest is a thing, checking if the Quest can do this too should be part of the pre-production research for this video.
It's the same thing again as when people thought Apple invented the concept of the smartphone or multitouch. Both existed before but Apple manages to brainwash people into believing it didn't.
Absolutely right@@juschu85
Hey, hey! I just noticed you are rockin' different monitors back there. Which ones are those?
Hi it is the 600 dollar worthless apple monitor that is the pro version
@@SrishanthIyer I’m talking studio monitors, no computer monitor.
The yamaha hs8i Its clearly visible bro
Imagine a pultec or la2a plugin on your desk!! or even serum
Notification Squad💚
Squad is here! What do you think, Shiv? Anything interest you about the Vision Pro?
@@SanjayC dude it's the craziest thing I've ever seen
I’m legally blind, so I pull my 32” monitor pretty close on a monitor arm. I currently don’t use speakers, but I will be soon I hope. My computer monitor will most likely block some sound from my speakers. I hope to use something like this as monitor someday.
It’s truly a pity we can’t at least air-click the transport controls at least.
This video came at a timely moment for me. I travel for a living and I LOVE working on my 48” monitor at home so I’m seriously considering VR as a portable solution.
Immersed should be available for the Vision Pro soon and that should allow for multiple monitors. I’m astonished that the Vision Pro doesn’t support it natively, but it may not be possible wirelessly…too much bandwidth required.
Thanks for the video!
GOING TO ULTRA MIAMI WITH THESE GOING TO BE 🔥🔥🔥🔥
What's the point?

"Moving screen anywhere we want"
Liked this feature 👍
But Not ready to buy that expensive device
Yeah, not ready for prime time I think
i want multimonitor support within Vision so i can have both Abelton windows open (mixer/arrangement views) and all my VST windows open at once. But 1 screen only? I'll pass..
Hai sanjay...i am sreejith from Kerala, india. a big fan of yours. Could you please recommend to me some of free plugins. I have watched your recent video about this topic. what to chose for (pop, rock music) in Ableton 11 lite (windows) using with scarlet 2i2 and rode nt1a. mainly For these categories
EQ, compressor, reverb, for boosting and smoothing vocals, for boosting drums. 😊
Hi Sreejith. Thanks for the Super Thanks, first! For free plugins I highly recommend that you check out Analog Obsession plugins which are great freebies analogobsession.com/. He has created EQs, compressors, etc. For boosting vocals and drums, a compressor will do a lot. That's your best bet. Smoothing vocals can mean a lot of things...and many times, harshness can be tamed with EQ. My fav plugin for "smoothing" vocals for me is Smooth Operator by Baby Audio (its not free tho). Hope my advice helped you!
@@SanjayC thank you so much...really helpful.I gonna definitely try these.
RipX for Vision Pro is about to change the game for immersive music production... check that one out
this is so cool, for all 5 people :P
If this was like a few hundred bucks, it would be great to have your screen wherever you need it in AR.
not yet...
I can't even wear sunglasses for an extended period of time.
u need a plugin to unblur plugins
Asio4all is making glitches and delays with all Ableton instruments.. how can I solve it .. this is Asia 2.15
Korg Gadget is out of this world! SAMSUNG had the virtual glasses a very long time!
10 years later, Apple releases this crap... Lol
I’d rather get the iPad Logic on AVP. Meanwhile Geert at Moog is kicking ass with native AVP music app development.
Imagine jamming with other musicians, each one in their own room with their headset. Or seeing the virtual audience in a virtual gig…
Why when you can donit for real..ffs
SkyNet and/or The Matrix, here we come! 😉
In my opinion, it's a bit chaotic. I do acknowledge its potential benefits for the visually impaired. Privacy use case is valid too, although they might not apply to everyone. I believe this technology has the potential to evolve into something compelling eventually, but it's not quite there yet.
Remember how big flat plasma screens were and how expensive. These goggles will evolve into light weight glasses or even contacts …
The apple we all know wants us to have a laptop and a Vision Pro. The way they they have configured the device with low storage and no way to connect external devices leads me to believe that they believe that developers will make apps that extend the control of their existing apps on the Mac. Using 3D controls to interface with the timeline and plugins. Allow you to control your session from where you are recording. Porting a music app doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You can't connect audio devices do it. Companies don't seem to be too keen about selling their products for iPad prices so making cheaper add on products that can't be duplicated on any other type of device seems to make sense to me. If the Vision Pro is used that way even buying the current model would be fine. You are not going to need extra power to perform these kinds of tasks. Since this is what I am hoping for, I will wait and see if this comes to pass and there is a less expensive (and lighter) product in the future but I am really exited about what developers will come up with to take advantage of this new way of computing.
Great video! Nice to see an iPad DAW running in the AVP. You're the only one I've seen do anything like that. I did the 30-minute demo but I'm not willing to take the plunge yet. I see that FL Mobile and Caustic show "Vision OS" on the web-based app store, but do they show up in the AVP's App Store? As far as I know, the AVP iPad support is limited to two touches (as opposed to a hardware iPad's ten) but that still might be okay for plunking on an on-screen keyboard or drum pads, possibly placing the window on a table for tactile feedback. (I have PSVR1 and Quest 2 so I'm definitely all-in on VR as the future, and the AVP demo was *very* impressive.)
2:40 This actually was possible before. The Vision Pro is not even out yet here in Germany, but I can already do the same with my Meta Quest 3, which came out a few months ago and costs 7 times less.
You know what's the problem with being an "Apple ecosystem person" as you call it or fanboy as I would call it? You don't look left and right, so you don't notice when something already exists and you don't have to wait until Apple does the same thing. Apparently it didn't even came to your mind to at least watch a review for the Quest, so you don't say something like this. Something like that should be part of the pre-production research.
Another thing which is a good example for this whole problem. Before the iPhone, there already were smartphones. But still a lot of people still think Apple invented the whole concept of the smartphone. There also already were products from other companies with multitouch and one year before the iPhone there even was a TED talk where someone from (I think) the MIT demonstrated a big Minority-Report-like (multi)touchscreen with gestures like pinch-to-zoom. But Steve Jobs still claimed at the keynote of the first iPhone (word by word) "we invented a new technology called multitouch". Well, that was a lie. He didn't just bend reality a little bit. It was just a plain lie he felt comfortable to make because barely anyone knew multitouch at that point.
And now it happens again. Apple manages to make people believe they did something that wasn't there before. And "Apple ecosystem people" are happy to help them unconsciously because they don't leave their Apple bubble and don't know what's happening outside of it. They breeded themselves a perfect customer base.
Awesome! But if you change screen position you lost the center of the monitor speaker, so this gear is pointless😲
That vision pro video is making me dizzy and I don't even have the headset on.
The Dino and me are good friends! Maybe I should do my version of a review😂 🎉
Write music as you wrote it a year ago ..The classics do not become obsolete ..
this is all pampering and nothing more.
this was my dream but i see now that it is not really that good , i have tried this with quest and a few other headsets ,, in the end the pc mouse/ keyboard + usb controllers are better
......push2/3 , a laptop+ a 50 inch 4k lcd is more than enough ..
APV is just another gadget like midi rings or the roland dimension beam . cool but unnecessary
Sanjay!!! Great video🔥
Here to shoot my shot. Would you gift me with something from your studio?! Headphones or something 🤣
Lol if I see one more person showcase the vision pro by just zooming in and out moving the screen around 😂
Ya we would all have loved to “air click” on the screen- but Apple loves to make money of that feature so - be sure I’ll have to pay again for this simple feature - 😅
so you please keep using vision pro honestly for atleast two hours everyday.😀
Can people who wear glasses use the Apple Vision without taking their glasses off ?
Namaste! This is not useful but fun. Then you for the video, Sunjay!
Now we need an emulator for the MacBook pro to work on it
Pathetic is the only word that comes to my mind
Looks like a solution looking for a problem to solve 😂
Thanks for the review, but IMO you're leaving out the elephant in the room: It's NOT usable for full music production, no matter how many apps come out for it, for a simple reason: It has NO functional USB port. The USB port on the battery is only for power. Meaning you can't plug in a simple audio interface. You can't plug in a simple microphone (that doesn't have giant latency through Bluetooth).
That means until Apple makes a hardware change (like making the developer strap available for the general public, and much cheaper), the VP absolutely cannot replace your PC, it can only act as a big screen. This also means Ableton and others have no incentive for developing for the VP. Sad.
Expensive gimmick tbh
This guy right here lmao
