Happy Easter everyone, hope you all have a fantastic break if you’re off ❤
Maybe a silly question but why are the sinks sent out without a 35mm hole already there……. Is it so the product doesn’t crack in transit? Genuine question?
@gavinbiard3745 different sizes of tap available not all are 35mm
@@gavinbiard3745 it’s so you can use it as either a right handed or left handed sink, the bowl either right or left hand side.
Those sinks only need silicone to fix them. A great kitchen fitter told me that, mine dropped in, never to move again. Love plumbing videos, yours are up there with the best. Peace and goodwill.
Thank you very much for the advice, Martin. And your kind words.
You’re right up there with the big RUclipsrs bro, brilliant videos bro from 🇮🇪
Cheers brother. Really appreciate that!
I did the exact same sink. Those clips and waste kit were shocking. Many swear words were said.
Haha I just don’t understand the logic behind them. It’s like they’ve purposely made it hard work. 😂
Another good un Dan. You got there in the end. ❤
Cheers Paul 🙏🏽
@@Heatking 😀 ❤️
Mate, I can honestly say that your channel is brilliant. I used to watch plumberparts regularly, but the guy started to irritate me and his content wasn’t nearly as varied as yours is. I subscribed a while ago and whilst I haven’t thumbs up your vids, that’s only because I watched every single one back to back! Each was brilliant. You’re not doing anything wrong mate. The length of vids are good 20 mins plus (linger the better personally) and content is nicely varied 👍🏻
Thanks mate. This is just the type of feedback I need :)
I’m not sure if thumbs upping videos helps anyway, who knows with RUclips! Appreciate the support mate. 🙏🏽
Plumber parts is an absolute balloon. He’s as funny as diarrhoea
Them waste fittings supplied with the sink are awful😂. Made the best of a compromised situation❤. Good job dam
Thanks mate, yeh they where a strange design 😂😂😂
Back after a while away glad to see ya still going pal
Long time no see Paul. Hope you’re well! Where have you been! Haha
You did well , considering with what you where working with.
I think I would have gone and got another waste kit and just charged the customer.
But well done 🧐😎😁
Haha cheers mate. Yeh I probably should have gone an got a better waste kit, but thankfully made it work 🙏🏽
Loving the content pal. Keep at it. Edit, just realised I wasnt subscribed! I am now!!
Haha thank you mate! You’re the 3rd one that’s said that. Just proves, mentioning it every so often reminds people haha.
Gave our cut work top edge where the sink slots in 2 coats of clear yacht varnish , is still rock solid & bone dry 30+ years on ! 👍🏻
Good shout that. Might have to get some of that varnish!!
@@Heatking , deffo mate !👌🏻, silicone just does the usual especially with the transferred heat of the water especially with a stainless sink , drys out and just flakes away 🥴, don’t get me wrong the kitchen units are still rock solid but looking a little outdated ! after 30+ years 🥴🤦🏻♂️🤣 time for a facelift and modernization me finks 🤔, Base & Wall cabinets still solid !
Can get away with some modern lookin doors/ drawer fronts, pelmets & cornices , kick boards & newer’er worktops to bring it back to the 21st century 🙈🤣, another top tip !! 👍🏻I did was,
With the poxy angle brackets you get to secure the base units to the wall , was to mount them further in on the side panels then fit some either 3x1 or 4x1 timber to the brackets, flush with the back of the cabinet sides !, across the film width of the back of the cabinets, then you’ve got a bigger area to guarantee a solid fixing to the wall at any point!! 👌🏻
Content is great bud I genuinely think your one of the better channels out there, the 5k will come 👌
Cheers Aaron, appreciate that mate, hopefully soon 👍🏼🙏🏽♥️
The content is perfect for me buddy, ive just become a maintenance manager so appreciate all the tips.. I've always done my own plumbing but now have the responsibility of 180 bedroom sinks 30 w/c's 7 kitchens and 10 assisted 😅 bathrooms.😅😅
Thanks for the support mate!
Glad the tips help mate. 180 rooms though, 😬😬😂😂
You are now my No1 goto plumbing channel.Have recently retired from being a maintenance engineer and still need to get a fix now and again you and your content deserve to hit the 5k
@@Bob-lj4mp haha thanks very much mate! I see that as an achievement ♥️♥️
You did a good job , you went above and beyond to make it better 👍🏻👌🏻
Thanks Dan. Appreciate that. And the best name ;) 😂😂😂
@@Heatking the best plumbers are called Dan lol 😂
Keep it up mate as you said it takes time to build up a following..Great vid but i would have liked to see you remove the fixings for the old sink.
Cheers Tim! I’ll bare that in mind for the next one 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
great video as usual.i always say to the customer that i wont use any supplied fittings and use mcalpine strainer and traps from the van.wire wool is to keep the mice out,it cuts there gums!
Cheers Alan, learned something new with the wire wool and mice haha! Yeh you’re doing the right thing with only using macalpine. Its really good stuff and proven quality 🙏🏽🙏🏽
That sink replacement looked like a right ball ache from the start good on you for sticking at it and getting it done 👍
Thanks Martin, they’re just irritating jobs really. 😂😂😂
Just life takes over pal quit the plumbing game,my knees love me for it
Oh bloody hell mate. Sorry to hear that, but hopefully it’s for the best for you and your knees haha.
Still do the odd small jobs few beer tokens tho no full house pipe bashing 1st/2nd fixing lol
Interaction in the comments also helps to drive up your numbers.
Cheers mate. I do try to respond to
Every comment :)
Wire wool she’s scared of mice 🐁 getting in 😂. Your channel is one of best ones around mate. A lot of them have gone a bit Hollywood and just do walk around so boring
Thank you for the feedback Paul. Really appreciate that. Didn’t realise the wire wool was to deter mice ha ha. It’s a fine line between knowing what the viewer wants and making it entertaining at the same time.
Wirewool to keep the vermin out Dan
Cheers Keith! I’ve learnt something new!
keep going with it mate. make titles more job orientated for the algorithm. if you make videos that are training orientated you will find that the views continue until the job changes. must be 10,000 trainee uk plumbers a year
I get that mate, to target the trainee plumbers, I’ve been trying titles to target more than the plumbing community, but not sure it’s working haha.
@@Heatking might sound daft but I’m pretty sure the algorithm doesn’t like words like hate in a title 👍
Another brilliant video!
I’m pretty sure you’ve nothing to worry about regarding your videos, as your presentation and content are both exceptionally good.
My impression (rightly or wrongly) is that RUclips subscriptions to a channel don’t increase linearly but tend to follow an sigmoidal curve - increasing slowly for a while, then a period of faster growth, followed by a levelling off.
Hopefully, you’ll be on phase two soon - your channel certainly deserves it!
Hope you’re having a great Easter Dan, a bit dull and wet here today in Northumberland😟
Thanks very much Steve. I
Hope you’re right too mate! Yeh the weather here is grim
Too :( hope you had a nice break none the less!!
Excellent video, lucky that new thing fitted.. another job well done 👍
Thanks mate. Really appreciate the support 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks mate appreciate that 👍
Another good video, still couldn’t do your job, with what I saw hanging out, 🤢. Happy Easter Dan. ❤
Hahaha, you get used to it Paul. However the smell was horrendous on this one 😂
I’ve just subscribed! I honestly thought I already was as your vids always come up on my home page
Haha cheers mate. Youre the 2nd one what’s said this 😂😂
Just changed my own kitchen sink and tap. Going from a black composite quartz to stainless steel. Only been in a couple of years but the sink seems to stain and goes white around the plug hole just by looking sideways at it, never had any chemicals or cleaners any where near it. The new tap did the same as yours a couple of vids ago, leaking from between the swivel and base. I contact the company I bought it from who contacted the manufacturer. They sent me two new O rings and some silicone grease,. Problem solved.
Cheers mate, yeh I have black at home and do not reccomend! But the customers always right 😂😂
I keep watching you and never subscribed. I’m gas apprentice and enjoy watching your videos. Good stuff lad. (I’ve subscribed now🤣)
😂😂 maybe I need to remind people more! Thanks for being honest though!! And welcome mate!
I’m enjoying your content mate. Keep doing what your doing👍
Cheers Andrew. Appreciate the support mate 🙏🏽
Nice job, I’m only a diy guy but I’ve changed a few sinks. I tend to use the mcalpine stuff as you mentioned. Different if the customer supplies or doesn’t want to pay I guess.
Those clips for the sinks always just fall out on me so I use the silicone as glue !
My silicone game improved dramatically when I used those no nonsense tools from Screwfix.
Good to see you thinking about water getting in the worktop and not wanting to fill the cupboard with waste pipes. Details like that make the difference pal
Oh and the last sink I did, the wife wanted one of those taps with the pull out thing and had a weight underneath . Omg what a pain , the weight still catches on things underneath the sink!
Thanks pal! The pull out taps are absolutely awful 😂😂 because you’re right, the weight catches on just about everything and isn’t really heavy enough to pull the tap head in 🤦🏽♂️
Great job Dan. Looked great in the end.
Thanks Mac! As always matey 🙏🏽
Great video fella. I really enjoy your content. Keep it up. Out of interest how long did you allocate to do the job versus it taking with needing to renew the waste etc?
Cheers Richard, appreciate the support mate, to be honest I allocated half a day for this one, and it took just that. Was hoping to get away a bit earlier but you never know haha.
Nice job mate.
Thank you Terry ♥️
Well done mate.
Nice job.
Thanks buddy 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Good job
Thank you Tom! 🙏🏽
Happy Easter mate
And you Mark 🙏🏽
You highlighted all the ins and outs of sink changes, rarely simple swaps!
Tap knockouts are designed for centre punch and hammer, that's why they're called knockouts!
You'd never drill a ceramic basin or sink, so next time duct tape over the knockout to reduce spalling, centre punch placed in hole centre and sharp whack with the hammer!
Gently enlarging the hole with the hammer head and your done, it never fails and once you've done one you'll never think twice!
Keep plugging away as you are and the subscribers will come.
Cheers John, I’ve knocked out one before and it made me nervous wreck haha. And with ceramic I actually use the diamond cores to knock them out. Never thought of duct tape before! Thanks mate
@@Heatking Just go for it next time, you can't rely on the manufacturers
marking dead centre, so drilling with ANY bit is a bad idea!
Just use hammer and CENRE punch, not flat head punch and whack it!
@@johnward5006 ill give it a shot 😂😂
You need tile drills for that stone sink Dan iv got a set for that
I’ve got a set of them but didn’t even think 🤦🏽♂️
Happy Easter Stacey, I mean Dan (inside joke 😝) another great video just keep doing what you’re doing!
Haha cheers mate. And thanks for the support as always 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Wire wool and silver foil keeps mice at bay
I never knew this 😖😂😂
Keep at it, you will get there with the subs I'm sure. 🤞 I've been in the game since probably before you were about, so know good from bad and you do deserve more subs for your excellent content. 👍👍👍
Cheers Julian, appreciate it matey!! Hopefully they’ll come! Eventually 😂😂😂
Thanks
Thank you so bloody much Alex 🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@Heatking I wish it was £200 🤓
Totally loved this episode!! Happy Easter buddy !!
Had me dying when I heard “always go in with a rubber it’s safer that way “ 😂
Also did you notice how close that cabinet door hinge was to the sink ?
Good luck on the poor dude who’s gonna change that some day
Thanks mate. Yeh I did see the cabinet door hinge trying to disappear behind the sink, but thankfully could still get to the screws. Thanks for the support mate, and have a great Easter!!
Tidy job Dan, those wastes that come with the sink are usually crap. Im like you some times i make do with them other times its in the bin and buy a mcalpine😁👍🏼
To be honest, in the end they went that bad. Other than the trap haha. However,,, if I’d of had a macalpine kit on the van… 😂😂😂
Another great video, I'm not a plumber but have done a couple of my own sinks, it's such an uncomfortable job
Thank you mate. It’s just an irritating job, just seems to take forever 🤦🏽♂️
Very nicely done. Changed my 90s plastic sink for a SS one. Could never find consistently good reviews for those composite ones but black is probably the easiest to live with for staining.
I don't think any sink swap is easy. Predict a lot of grovelling about got edited out there 😉
Haha yeh it did Tom you’re right haha. And the problem with the black ones, is they scratch. I’ve got one at home :(
@@Heatking yeah I read so much not so good about them. Got a Rangemaster one and I think the steel quality is great.
Fair play to the customer for getting the size right. Job could have been even more difficult otherwise.
Great video for us diyers.
"Great video! Keep up the excellent work, and I'm sure the subscription will come."
Cheers buddy. Much appreciated ♥️
Those clips are a bl***y nightmare to fix. They either wont grip the wood or fall apart. As long as the sink cant move I've often just fixed the sink with silicone.
Yeh I do like to
Try my best with the clips, but ultimately silicone when gone off will work perfectly fine :) you’re right.
People seem to love disasters. Maybe burn another house down get it in on video :) Am sure I found you when you commented on another RUclips plumbing channel and now I see you on a fair few like that off the job with the heatgeek you popped up on the live chat :) Just keep doing what you do and you are going to grow your channel am sure.
Thanks mate. Good to know where you found me too! I might have to burn another down you’re right 😂😂
with the wipes, store them upside down, you'll find they'll be a bit more moist ;)
Gotta love a little kitchen sink swap
Those wastes are a absolute nightmare I always go armed with strainers and mcalpine bowl and half kit cause you know full well if you don't you'll need it
I should have gone armed with them you’re right mate, just so much better. 😂 is the lid on the wonder wipe’s definitely water tight?😂😂
@@Heatking I use big wipes which are, but no idea on the wonder wipes 🤣 try it in the sink or basin at home to test first 🤣👌
Yeah those waste kits are questionable, similar to the B&q space saver ones 🤣 get in the bin
@killerbean9911 😂😂 I don’t want to loose all the magic juice 😂😂😂😂
@@Heatking put them upside down in a plumb tub? Then pour the magic juice back in if it does leak
@@killerbean9911 I’ll hold
You responsible if this fails haha
Very nice neat job 100%
Thank you 🙏🏽♥️🙏🏽♥️
Why do kitchen sinks always go to 💩 not my favourite job but great result mate 👍 the good old wire wool to keep the rats at bay, they won’t chew through it gets stuck in there teeth…keep up the content mate your step further down the road with every video 👊🙌
Thanks mate. I didn’t know about the wire wool being to prevent mice. 😬
Ive a sink to do on Friday coming, what did you charge out of interest Dan? ty
£260 including plumbing materials for this mate.
I've only ever done 1 kitchen sink lol gimme boilers all day long 😂
Haha you do right mate! 🙏🏽
What type of measuring tape do u have
Haha it’s actually off tiktok shop 🤦🏽♂️😂😂
Bin the waste kit and go McAlpine all the way
They’re probably the best 🙏🏽
I just bin them waste kits everytime do what you said get mcalpine
Thankfully managed it in the end. Should have really, but couldn’t be bothered driving 20mins to the merchants hahah
Forgot to mention that the steel wool was to prevent mice
Thanks Paul! I’ve learnt something new today haha.
What did you charge for the job mate if ya dont mind me asking?
£260
Inc plumbing materials mate
@@Heatking 🤑
The steel wool is to deter rats and mice
Never heard of that before but thanks for the info matey!
@@Heatking it cuts their mouths when they try chewing through it
I've fitted one of these, them waste fittings are a joke 🙈
Haha who’s make are they,do you know?
No idea I just remember having a nightmare with them
Never go in without a rubber 🫡😂
😂😂😂 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The wire wool might be to keep mice out as the furry little shits hate it. I use Protek ESP to seal edges btw, aint cheap but it goes a long way. Happy Easter matey.
Thanks matey, the customer said it was to stop drafts haha. Never heard of that stuff. Will have a google! Happy Easter to you to mate!
🤘😎🤘🫖☕️🍪
Cheers Wayne 🙏🏽
Talk about glass half empty! How many potential problems can you think up? I only got a minute into the video and thought it would end in tears. It’s plumbing not heart surgery. Down tools and go to the pub.
Unfortunately if I titled the video… nice easy sink swap.. or something along those lines, nobody would watch. So got to dramatise it up a bit 🙏🏽
Dont bother with them clips on composite sinks ,waste of time just bond it in they are really flat and heavy so seal in lovely
I agree mate, but thought I best try! 😂
Plumbers and the phrase " I hate these jobs " go together like cheese and onion , can all the plumber's on RUclips start doing videos on jobs they like ..if there are any.
😂😂 I’m not sure what jobs I enjoy anymore! 😂😂
@Heatking look on the bright side any job that doesn't end up with you being sprayed with shite is a good un 👍
@@leedaniels1468 haha true that to be honest mate! Got to be negative on RUclips to get people to
Watch haha
I like the bit when iam finishd and driving home lol
Don't get this the wrong way, I like your videos and you as a person, you explain things nicely. I watched a 23 minute video of a sink replacement. I don't have time for a 30 minute sink video. I appreciate various jobs, edited out a bit more, don't need to show the entire process of scraping the old silicone out and wiping for example. I personally come here for extra knowledge and honestly, this video just played in the background while I did other things as I had nothing to take from it. Hope you take this as constructive criticism which what it is, not an insult.
No no this is the type of feedback I need mate. It’s a fine line with trying to make a video for the experienced and the novices, I appreciate all feedback mate, it’s the only way I know what the viewer wants! Haha.
Thanks for understanding mate. What I was trying to say was to trim the videos down a bit more and add different jobs in the video, especially if its 1 video a week.@@Heatking
@@MagicDoughnut yeh I get that mate, I’ve got a few one job episodes coming up, but after that I’ll take your feedback into account 🙏🏽
Hi the content is great. I was going to say the content is great but thets no help is it lol...i feel your pain i watch you and plumb like tom and i dont understand why others have more subs when the content is geeat and real on both channels . I noticed the one with larger subs are maybe pushing more products ?? Or maybe its a north south type thing ? People like people from their own area like supporting a football team? Im from Merseyside so your pretty local to me. However when channels get too pushybwith the priducts i alaways unsubscrire as they become sales based rather than info based.have you seen dereton 33 hes an older retired plumber with hundreds of 1000s of subs. Just a nice guy who does really basic plumbing vids which a lot of diy/ homeowners will like. Maybe do the odd tutorial on really basic stuff that a diyer could tackle and raise subs that way. Rather than just aim at the pro plumber crowd. Just some ideas mate. Keep it up and have a great weekend
Thanks mate, this type of feedback is just what I was after! I did wonder if it was area dependent, and yeh I understand why they end up pushing products, but I believe there’s a certain way to push the product so it doesn’t annoy the viewer, currently if I mention a product, it’s because I like it haha. I unfortunately dont have a channel sponsor like the big boys 😂😂😂have a good weekend mate.
End result looked great. Its so tiresome changing sinks, always takes twice as long as you think its going to. More great content though, you get a lot of likes relative to your number of views so people who watch the videos must like them, just keep going. It seems like really highly edited snappier videos, often with no voiceover at all, seem to generate more subscribers, maybe they appeal more to non-plumbers which is obviously where the bigger pool is, it's hard to say.
Cheers Martin, you could be right there to be honest, yeh I do get plenty of likes to be honest which is much appreciated. Just wondering how to get the channel to gain some proper growth. Kitchens sinks I find a real tedious job :( like you say. Takes ages! For a little end result.
