Best game of Age of Mythology: Retold I have seen yet. AC made one critical error by not supporting his Titan to capture the Plenty Vaults, which I felt like was the turning point in the game but his adaptation and swinging his offensive around at every turn was insane. Victor's persistence was also crazy good and able to survive the onslaught til he was able to find breathing room to push a Titan for the win. Amazing Commentary to a Legendary game. Thanks for this!

Can confirm to anyone who wants to play but hasnt bought it, its very fun. Was well worth buying tbh especially if you want s game you can relax and have fun for like an hour

Regarding your question at 4:08 about hotkeys to switch between map visibility, there's actually three called: Move Up Map Visibility (default shift+ctrl+PageUp) Move Down Map Visibility (default shift+ctrl+PageDown) Toggle through Map Visibility (default unassigned) They are under Spectator Mode Hotkeys. Not the most intuitive of hotkeys, I would have preferred if there was one for full visibility, one for player visibility and another for explored. Anyway, I suggest you change them to something easier to reach considering you're doing a lot of casting. P.S. While you're at it, Ctrl+1 changes player to 1, and Ctrl+2 changes player to 2.
Goes to show how busted Greek favor generation is in retold, they could just spam multiple god powers over the course of the game to heal and curse and 3 plenty vaults allowing him to not lose much on overall resources. Meanwhile after 5 minutes of favor saved up the Egyptian could barely get some ancestors out that died immediately.

I always thought that Set had very weak bonuses. The converted animals have almost no attack, and if you send them to the enemy base, you grant your enemy food. Increased speed to barracks units is nice... but only 5%, that sounds just symbolic. But after watching this match, I think that the -25% gold on Barracks, Siege Works and Migdol saved him tons and tons and tons of gold. When I play, I usually never build so many of these buildings. But in this match, it was building after building after building.

Wonder age is a 4v4 compromise and/or newbie meme. You can't spend this much resources in 1v1 competitive game and hold the line for the time needed. Even the a titan many times is too expensive. I think if the devs want titan to come into pro games it should be cheaper.
@@30Salmao Nah titan is well the way it is. It is destined for late games, where it isn't that expensive actually, and could be up to 1000 res. It is seen enough in pro games, you probably never watched them before.
I feel like AC could've used his titan a lot better though. Destroying tc's is nice for the temporary popcap, but not much economic damage was done and al greek hero's were trailing it, draining it's hp fast. If he kept it at the frontline with the army, micro the hero's down he might have reached the vault at which point it's gg. Hindsight 20/20 I know, but I've seen a lot of solo titan running and I feel it only works if you're already ahead.
Indeed. Titans are best used to spearhead an attack, reinforced with myth units or infantry while it annihilates buildings. I believe that Titans are best used on defense, however. It has that "going nuclear factor, they can hold ground incredibly well there aren't many armies you can send to overwhelm a titan without allowing for a counterattack.

i wish civs other than greeks had a way to gain more favor. like going all in with favor gathering. we got all these cool myth units and powers but only greeks have the proper way to use them excessively
@@latbat58 it would be nice but then again only Greeks have a limited number of heroes so their favour going to myth units won't be doing much comparatively as enemy heros can shred their myths. The big advantage though is the Greeks can spam god powers

Yeah, it would be difficult, cause the enemy would know what he was doing and in the core of his base, there would be a huge resistance. Also he could keep putting pressure on the right side of the map. But I think that if Egyptian sacrificed the right side of the map acquiring the Vaults and building his base there, it would probably be worth it. Not only he'd gain additional resources, but his enemy who has spent his god power twice on it would lose it.

I have a sugestion if you don't mind: if we watch the game with fog of war on we can unveil the information with the players, we also can focus and alternate between both players vision of the game. The game with fog of war is much more intense and also imersive. If you see the way pro casters always did with many RTSs casts: SC2, W3, AoE2 and others, they always showed the game with fog of war on and alternate between the players, leting this rithm envolve the audience. It's a cool way to host the show. Hope you can do this way of casting work, if you might. Sorry for my bad english, it is not my 1st language.

Surely building priests to counter those nemean lions would have let him win some of those earlier fights? And idk if the seige towers were the best counter tothe archers, as you said they soaked up the damage but didnt do much in return.
Never played this game but why is neither person trying to disrupt the trade routes? Seems like thats a good way to remove a gold advantage but may be easier said than done.
Yeah Im not sure about pro players. I mean they were doing a lot of macroing, attacking and defending on multiple sides. But both players were so bad at choosing units to counter the other army. I felt like both players had multiple easy opportunities to end the game. Why did red bother to defend much of top side, when all he had to to was to push through with all he got, together with his titan, at bottom main base. That would give him both vaults and gg. So weird to me. Very fun match none the less!
7:50 Worst oversight by developers is, that Achilles in Trojan War campaign is technically against you for Troy. Since Troy plays Hades in some missions. And in no mission you get to see him fighting for you. He only comes in Titans campaign to fight Kronos, which is like as if Abraham Lincoln was fighting in WW1 type of mistake. I love AoM because childhood, but i also hate it because it's not accurate to mythology as it should be. Also Prometheus being evil, but he's noble and fought AGAINST Kronos. Chiron death didn't occur as they described. etc.

All the workers getting favor are not getting resources while the max pop is capped.

Wonder Age is cool and all but the Wonder takes too much time to build. It's very risky in 1v1 games.
